yeah, exactly! That's a very good blog post and why I don't always hate the concept of exclusivity. The goodwill generated by being upfront with customers is priceless.
it was, yes ... while the stream was deadWas it announced in the EGS Show ?
Open beta is EGSexclusive, 1.0 is also on Steam.
Free Beta on EGS on March 23.
Was it announced in the EGS Show ?
What kind of game is it? Hack-n-slash?

Would be weird if not on Steam, since Perfect World is the one running Steam in China.Open beta is EGSexclusive, 1.0 is also on Steam.
Yeah it's a honest and respectful post. I really don't blame him for taking Epic's money, but that doesn't mean I'm not disappointed that another one of my favorite devs joins Epic's moneyhatting spree. As usual, I will spend my money on other games instead.[UWSL]also - the blog post he wrote about the egsclusivity is REALLY good[/UWSL]

That's the problem with moneyhats: when you take every other option away for some of the most popular content, you don't have to bother to offer a good service since people have no choice but using it. It's the most anti-consumer and anti-competitive way to compete. The contrast between the amount of effort Epic puts in its other endeavors versus EGS is rather stark. Epic constantly updates and improves Unreal Engine and it constantly pumps out new content for Fortnite, yet development on EGS moves at a glacial pace. I think this shows that Epic has not yet fully committed to the future of the store and is still assessing its potential.
ResetEra doesn't necessarily represent the PC gaming populace and isn't weighted in any meaningful way. For all we know, a bunch of console fanboys who have never gamed on PC could've voted to inflate numbers one way or another. That's the problem with moneyhats: when you take every other option away for some of the most popular content, you don't have to bother to offer a good service since people have no choice but using it. Therefore I'm extremely disappointed that so many pc gamers decided to support Epic anyway. Yesterdays poll on Era shows that more than 40% of the voters spend their money on EGS, most of them for buying moneyhatted content.
To be honest I was super happy with that poll. The narrative was that people would "go where the games are" and that the protesters were a tiny minority. 60% not paying a single cent after more than two years of EGS presence in the market and more than 100 moneyhats is a truly excellent result in my opinion. Something like 85% of those who voted, on a heavily console-oriented forum no less, have spent less than a full game's worth of money in the store in the 28 months since its launch. I am thrilled by these results. That's the problem with moneyhats: when you take every other option away for some of the most popular content, you don't have to bother to offer a good service since people have no choice but using it. You're both right. I guess I'm still disappointed because people on Era are mostly 18+ gaming enthousiasts, spending lots of their time and money on gaming. I expected that enthousiasts in particular would not be happy with Epic introducing money hatting for pc gaming. On social media, it's rather the younger and casual crowd that seems to be supportive to Epic.I don't see the point of "worrying" about a console-centric forum like ERA are using money on EGS when we have official numbers from Epic themself showing how bad the store is doing.
In that definition Im also part of the "support of Epic" crowd as I also enjoy free games and play Fortnite at times. But like with the casual crowd, I don't use money on EGS.You're both right. People who frequently play on various platforms are logically more accustomed to exclusivity bullshit. I have no way of filtering those results but I assume that a similar poll among those who play primarily/only on PC would produce even more lopsided results in favor of the 0$ option. You're both right. Anyway, as long as EGS growth is slower than other stores, there's no need to worry.
Why are some gaming journalists so obtuse...
It's incredible. Only thing missing here is Nathan Grayson claiming it's because of Steam's greedy 30% cut that it took so long before Kingdom Hearts came to pc. Many articles on the biggest game sites are borderline shilling for capitalistic companies in the games industry.Gaming journalism is largely a lost cause.
I won't pretend I was sorry that Epic had a poor showing, but honestly it was so fucking awful from start to finish I was almost conflicted on how to feel about it when everything was said and done. That's it? Axiom Verge 2 and a bunch of seriously overpriced Kingdom Hearts games? What a joke after Epic's claims that they will have more exclusives incoming than ever.
Thanks a lot !Epic hired lobbyist Lacee Bjork Anderoson to find someone (ended up being Kyle Davison, state senator) to introduce app store law Epic had written. (so Apple must allow Epic Games Store on IOS and Apple's AppStore / and Valve must allow Epic Games Store on Steam without paying Apple/Steam any cut, conveniently excludes game consoles)
Originally it was applying in North Dakota only, but it was amended to also affect any one makin over $10m with customers (or developers) from North Dakota.
What about the other way around ? Allowing Steam to sell EGS Exclusive games without Epic getting a cut ?Doesn't that also open up to force EGS to sell Steam games without Epic getting a cut?
Maybe distributing Steam, yeah.Doesn't that also open up to force EGS to sell Steam games without Epic getting a cut?
Especially considering Sony has heavy investment in Epic.I doubt the big 3 gave them a deal, it's probably more Tim knowing not to shit where he eats.
Yes it did. ^^A local tech site posted an article that Starbreeze is still desperately looking for a financial deal for Payday 3. I don't understand why Epic hasn't grabbed it yet, especially since the game is using the Unreal Engine. Didn't Payday 2 sell millions on Steam?
Is Payday 3 gonna use unreal engine?A local tech site posted an article that Starbreeze is still desperately looking for a financial deal for Payday 3. I don't understand why Epic hasn't grabbed it yet, especially since the game is using the Unreal Engine. Didn't Payday 2 sell millions on Steam?
So, what's keeping them? I never played Payday, but I thought it was still very popular...Yes it did. ^^
Yep!Is Payday 3 gonna use unreal engine?
That... I don't knowSo, what's keeping them? I never played Payday, but I thought it was still very popular...
I hope it's going to be better than their failed Walking Dead gameSo, what's keeping them? I never played Payday, but I thought it was still very popular...
Yep!
