Wait so FF7 is first exclusive by Sony moneyhat and next it will be exclusive by Timmy moneyhat?

Square so desperate for moneyhats lmao

We don't know whether it is exclusive to EGS. It could be a multi-store release.

However, it is clear that it will be on EGS. And it will use Epic Online Services (EOS).

The exclusivity thing we are telling some of us to you because we know for a fact.

Someone pointed out that there is a Remastered version of Alan Wake in EGS' database. It looks like it could replace the page of the current game when it is released. Like what Epic did with the store page of Just Cause 4: it was overwritten by the store page of Just Cause 4 Reloaded. I don't expect a free upgrade.

Except for this specific case, I don't think I missed any potential leak. :evilblob:

The FF7 info appeared in the EGS database between February 17 and March 19.

Regarding Blade Strangers, the info appeared there between March 10 and April 28.

As for Alan Wake, the piece of info appeared there between July 4, 2020 and June 17, 2021:

It puts things in perspective with regards to the articles calling these pieces of information new.
It could be correct for Alan Wake Remastered, but not for FF VII Remake: the info has been there for at least 3 months.

Epic Games now has over 500 million accounts with 2.7 billion friend connections across Fortnite, Rocket League, and the Epic Games Store. All of this is supported by Epic Online Services, a set of online services originally built for Fortnite and now available to all creators for free so they can easily launch, operate, and scale their games using any engine, store or platform of their choice.

In addition, Epic Online Services today is launching two highly-anticipated free services: Voice and Easy Anti-Cheat. These new free tools will further establish Epic Online Services as an industry-leader in backend services for game developers.

Operating voice communications and anti-cheat in a popular online game can cost millions of dollars. By offering these online services to everyone for free, Epic aims to empower more developers to build cross-platform games, connect their player communities, grow the games industry, and realize the vision of the Metaverse, together.

500 million accounts across Fortnite, Rocket League and EGS? Fortnite had 350 million accounts in May 2020 and EGS had 160 million accounts in December 2020. Since that adds up to 510 million, it's safe to assume an account that uses both EGS and Fortnite is considered one entity. Sadly I don't think it's possible to guesstimate how many EGS accounts there are now.

Keep in mind that Epic Achievements are an additional aspect of the Achievements interface, but are not the same.

EOS Game Achievements

Epic Online Services (EOS) Game Achievements (Achievements interface) are designed to be a "white label" service that developers can use on any platform, and tie to a variety of account systems. EOS allows sharing of achievement progress across platforms, or focused on specific platforms, as the developer sees fit. EOS Game Achievements can either be based on EOS Stats, or simply unlocked via API call. EOS Game Achievements are not intrinsically linked to the achievements of any platform, but they could be used as a back end solution to drive platform-based achievement unlocking.

Epic Achievements

Epic Achievements are built on top of EOS Game Achievements, and leverage the same SDK and Developer Portal for configuration. A base EOS Game Achievement is required in order to create and link the associated Epic Achievement. Epic Achievements add Epic ecosystem-specific functionality, such as XP (experience points), and are tracked at the Epic player level. Epic Achievements display on a game's details page in the Epic Games Launcher. If Epic Achievements are enabled for your game, these will show on the game details page, as well as its associated achievement details page (ADP).

These will also show up in the players' in-game social overlay. In this case, the EOS Game Achievements will not show. Developers are still free to use EOS Game Achievements APIs and build their own UI/UX around them, but in the case that both exist, Epic Achievements will be shown in the in-game overlay.

XP (Experience Points) Rules

  • Each game must have exactly 1000 total XP, regardless of how many achievements are included. You will not be able to push from dev to stage if you have more or less than 1000 XP. You can always see the XP total in your main Epic Achievements tab above the achievements table on the right.
  • XP for each achievement is set in multiples of 5 points (5, 10, 15… 100, 110, 200, etc.). There are XP ranges for bronze (5-45 points), silver (50-95) and gold (100-200) XP for each achievement.
  • The minimum XP for a single achievement is 5, and the maximum is 200.
  • If you attempt to add more or less than 1000 XP for a game, you will see an error message. You'll need to adjust the XP to fit within the amount of XP left for that game.
  • Once an achievement is live, it cannot be removed or have XP adjusted. In order to change the text or images, follow the normal publishing flow. If it is necessary to delete an achievement, contact Epic Games support to have an existing live achievement removed.

Avatar Rewards

Another feature being added with achievements is the concept of earning Avatars. Avatars will not be initially visible to players, but in the future a player will be able to unlock avatars from the games they own by earning XP within that game. Developers are required to submit 3 avatars before they can submit Epic Achievements for review and moderation. Initially, there will be 3 levels of Avatars (based on XP amounts), with one image each, and text can be localized (images cannot). The approval of these avatars and names will be required through the same review and moderation flow as new achievements. The moderation will seek to eliminate the addition of profanity, asset flips, and mature content, and any Avatars or names containing questionable content will be rejected.

It reminds me of what happened to Conan Exiles:

So how does that work for Funcom? Arent the devs of freebies given a small chunk of change? Would they need to give it back? Also, those Tim-in-film gifs are nightmare fuel, Wok.

It reminds me of what happened to Conan Exiles:

Conan Exiles has still yet to release on EGS. It is on Game Pass though which makes me wonder if Microsoft swooped in at the last moment to cut a deal, especially with that slide from the Apple trial where Epic said one of the Game Pass PC leaders doesn't like what EGS is doing.

Among Us devs react to Fortnite's shameless 'Imposter' mode rip off
Jez Corden

In the latest act of self-immolation, Epic Games has revealed its utter hypocrisy with a total and utter rip-off of InnerSloth's Among Us. The new Among Us-style Fortnite game mode sports an eerily familiar map, as well as "imposters," mimicking the hit title's social deduction gameplay.

In a move that will surely do nothing to quell claims of Epic Games' shameless plagiarism, the company has taken to Twitter to defend the rip-off, arguing that, "it's okay to rip off a game as long as you put your own spin on it."

In an official company statement, Epic Games stated that "We are all huge fans of Among Us, and we're sorry if we caused the devs any stress, but we're going to keep working on this mode anyway until it's good enough to release."

According to the studio, it is "looking forward" to releasing an Among Us-inspired mode for Fortnite: Battle Royale that will "improve on the Among Us formula, and make the game a lot better." "We will be adding a bunch of new features that will add to the experience," the company continued, "so even if you don't like the base idea, we're sure the mode will be totally worth trying out."

We reached out to InnerSloth Studios, developers of Among the Sleep , for a comment, and they gave us this exclusive statement: "Thanks for reaching out to us! We are so glad to see how passionate the Fortnite team is about our game. We'd love to play Fortnite, and we're sure that the game will be even better with the improvements they plan to make to the mode. We're sorry, though, that it's not being called Among Us: Fortnite Edition, but we hope everyone will still be able to enjoy it!"

We'll be sure to keep you updated on Among Us-inspired Fortnite: Battle Royale as the story develops.
