I think you should stay more low profile on ERA in the future. Don't wanna see you getting perm'd.

€: Oh lol ey Lashley

It is insane how thin-skinned the ERA Admins are
Ah. I didn't even realize I got banned. Man, if you go through my post-history again, I don't really know how much more low-profile I can get.

Just gonna have to lurk I guess. Most of my posts today were anime nonsense lmao.

It is insane how thin-skinned the ERA Admins are almost every human being on the planet is.

Which is why almost every moderated discussion forum ends up having some kinds of moderation issues, because people inevitably get defensive, cliquish, or apathetic.

I lost some faith in ERA when they sanctioned posts yesterday with the message "Villifying Media outlet"

I expect that from some authoritarian places but not from era. This is some 1984 shit.
Like someone said, Fox News threads would be a graveyard. I've shit on FN several times, unsanctioned.

Downunder.
Looks like I missed the anime talk. But I'll be watching Yu-No soon when I had my fill of gaming for the day.

https://www.funimation.com/shows/yu-no-a-girl-who-chants-love-at-the-bound-of-this-world/

It looks really cool and I wanna get it, but now I'm temporarily poor after just moving and buying a big shiny new TV
The game is cool. Great artstyle combined with creepy imagery and a dungeon crawler-lite mechanic.

Ah. I didn't even realize I got banned.
Got banned for speaking the truth again? :wd_rain:

lol. It was either that or the smug anime face.

Things that Era mods dislike:
  • Directly linking to their stupidity
  • Reacting to their stupidity with smug anime girls

Reminder that my dramatized "Long history of hostility" is literally the last incident and one other that I actually got unbanned in short-order and worked it out with the admin over PM's afterwards. Guess that part was never noted. (I critcized the first Era theme remake too hard and wanted to know why they didn't bother to test it on browsers other than Chrome.)

Not sure if or when it's coming to other platforms, but just saw a quick look on Mechstermination Force, it looks neat:

They're warning people for saying an EGS exclusive is coming out in 2020. It's like they're just inventing problems to have with us.

What's funny is to me is that the PC community of Era/GAF has always been the kindest. Always willing to offer suggestions or solutions for problems, or good recommendations for games that may have gone under the radar. Our threads are always open for new members. It's just weird that we're treated like this.

"history of similar behavior" is a reason you have to take their word for. because you can't check it yourself or if the history has even anything to do with the reason for the current ban.

Case in point, I got warned 15 months ago because I (tried) to argue that women and not men decide at which point they feel threatened or don't want to get flirted on in a bar. For one woman she will never be at ease with some random person flirting with her and for some they won't care at all. Ididn't argue that point clearly in my first post and got more in-depth in the following 10 posts or so. I got warned for the first post.
When I PM'ed the mod that I was baffled that I got warned for defending women rights,
Fast-forward 2 weeks or so, I got a 3-day ban in a ban-bait "we want to be better, you can talk about the moderation here" thread with the reason of history of similar behavior.

Oh, and this wasn't even the worst part. They also threatened me with a perma-ban if i was hostile (aka just criticising) again. Which was absolutely insane.

The craziest thing? They did that exact same threat to ListeningGarden (which lead her to leave ERA for a while). Like, at least me I get somewhat, i can be a piece of work sometimes. But her? She's a great poster and i don't think she ever gave anyone any trouble or was ever out of line.
Yet she got the same exact threat of a perma-ban for daring to criticise their handling of the SteamERA blowup.

UPDATE:

It appears this leak is fake. Yesterday, the same 4chan user claimed that Super Mario Odyssey would be coming on the PC and that it would be exclusive to the Epic Games Store. Nintendo has not released any of its first-party games on the PC so this “leak” does not make any sense at all. Not only that, but the Super Mario Odyssey story reads exactly like the Red Dead Redemption 2 story so it’s safe to assume that they are both fake.

Damn, is amazing. I bought it when it was on Early Access, but didn't get to start it back then. Launched it today and it's really impressive.
I'll have to give the game a try soon!

I see everyone praising and recommending it, and I already own it (bought it when it was one of the daily deals at Chrono.gg), but never even launched it once. :giggle:

How many awesome games do we have "lost" in our libraries, that we never even played once?

It is a tough one - don't get it show you don't support the conditions it's made under
don't buy it and those staff get let go because it didn't do well. Though I would put the chances around 10% of the pc version being done inhouse so we'd be harming an outsource/port studio more than Rockstar

I know I must have a ton :D I don't remember if I saw someone here recommending it or on Twitter, but following that recommendation was a great idea, it's truly a great experience.

I played it and got bored out of my mind about halfway through thanks at least in part to what I felt was some extraordinarily bad ludonarrative dissonance. I might get back to it someday, but still.

As always, my advice is to consider offsetting your purchase with a donation. If an issue like a game's working conditions bother you and you still want to play it, donate some money to Game Workers Unite or something similar.

I wont be surprised when in any moment the EGS/Steam talk becomes political, some "influencers" are already pushing the narrative in that direction, then it will be taboo to talk about it.

Fine fine... I'm buying Supraland. It looks interesting and the peer pressure got to me :D

we'll see
Given how many accusations are already popping up trying to derail the discussions, it is clear something some people are trying to do. Claiming the Chinese angle is one of the most important things to the people against EGS, trying to lump criticism of the awful coverage with Gamergate, and so on. It is an obvious attempt to shutdown the discussion, but I can really see the moderation in several places using that to not have to deal with all the mess anymore.

To clarify, I don’t think GWU has gotten their non-profit status yet, which means they’re not taking donations yet. But they applied so they should have a donation page up soon.

But as I’ve said, the basic principle applies to other situations. Buy the game used, buy it on sale, spend an equivalent amount on a donation, etc.

Hmm... Era.

Anyway, I can see why the Namcops ported the Super Dragon Ball Heroes game to PC now. It's just a glorified trading card game that you can play online with others. They knew what they were doing when they ported it. Either that or it cost two bucks and a sandwich to port.

Yeah, what the hell? Sixty bucks? There's also two anime music packs for fifteen each. It's cool that they're bringing more arcade only games to PC at least. They can get away with sixty on the switch because ... I say so. On the PC we constantly have FighterZ and Xenoverse on sale for like... twenty. It could have been a neat, little fanservice TCG with that expensive music DLC to make up for a cheap base price.

It's not a bad game, but when you have stuff like the phoenix wright collection coming out for half the price in the same month? Hell, you have MK11 coming out for the same price, if not less because WB games are always cheap as hell.

Someone suggested while True: learn() back around the last Steam Seal I believe, and I've finally been playing a little bit.

I'm pretty sure the "programming" here actually isn't that great, but what I've played has been pretty charming. The aesthetic is cozy, the little history lessons about machine learning/AI are mildly interesting and the overall "programming" stuff works as solid puzzles.

Dunno if I'll actually finish it, but maybe finishing it would inspire me to go play some actual programming games.

Phoenix Wright is like $23 on GMG actually, so it's kind of cheap. I'd get it... if I didn't have it on my 3DS and iPad. The Dragon Ball game is grossly overpriced, yeah. I mean there is a metric ton of great fighting games available for much much cheaper... even with Dragon Ball as the theme.

I was just going by the price on Steam. There's definitely a plethora of places that have it cheaper. I pre-ordered it on GMG myself and am waiting for that sweet key.

I was just mentioning the other two because there's plenty of Dragon Ball fan service on Steam in general for much cheaper. If you care about only the TCG aspect, then... maybe Magic the Gathering could be a free alternative? I don't know what others TCGs there are.

BenjiUS claimed on Era that pre-orders for BL3 are incredibly high. Not sure he has access to EGS data, but I'm afraid he's right that the pc version will sell millions anyway. I miss the times that pc gamers voted with their wallets against GFWL.
I'm pretty certain he doesn't have access to PC data and even if he did it'd likely be US only. Very few seem to be able to get numbers on digital PC games unless a company gives them out. He likely just means it's tracking incredibly high on ps4/xb1.

Which would make sense since it was supposed to be 4A's The Witcher 3 moment (which it wasn't, but still a huge improvement).

The new db game is a card game, not a fighting game.
