It's not something that's only happening in the gaming industry.
It's happening everywhere, that's the point.
Yeah. Same with indie devs feeling entitled to the whole world supporting them if their game doesn't sell. No one cares when a restaurant closes after three months due to being unsuccessful, but for some reason when it's gaming-related, it's supposed to be always newsworthy.

Also, this just shows how irrelevant store cut is unless you're self-published. Look at how much CP2077 made with the majority of sales coming from PC, including GOG where CDP gets 100% of sales. How did that translate to developers' salaries?

Arcana Heart 3 LOVEMAX SISTARS!!! got updated to XTEND.
The two kickstarted DLC characters are available to purchase and free to backers

The free update includes widescreen mode and two new stages.
This is awesome, but without rollback, I wonder how successful it can be at this point. I know ASW has expressed interest in adding it to more of their old titles, so hopefully this could get the treatment. Game's probably going to be dead as fuck, even with the new content.

For anyone who has never played AH3, it looks like waifu-bait garbage, but is actually an amazing fighter. The arcana system allows it to have a ton of character variety while still being pretty balanced. If you like fighting games and it ever gets rollback, you should give it a chance. Unless you play grapplers, then please never play it. I don't need to be thrown by the girl swimming in the animated water ball ever again.

Bad practices in the industry should be called out. It's especially galling after reports of crunch/mismanagement and the poor state that the game launched in.
It was a sarcastic jab at the whole socio-economic system we live in and how sick and unbalanced it is.
And the sad reality is, those devs should be happy they got any bonus at all at the end of this, most get zero compensation and are kicked out after a couple of months.

Yeah but at the same time that's not really a reason to throw our arms up in the air and become apathetic. I know it's widespread and I find the crusade Shreier has against this company dodgy, in my opinion, but it's still a positive thing to call out.

Maybe jus maybe he should call it out more across the board instead of doing few months of month of R* (until game released to Universal accalima ) and forget, whole month on ND and forget and now half a year on CDP and keep banging on 9nly on this until reddit and twitters stop caring or another one comes in.

Like call it out consistently across the board instead of just picking a target and forgetting about the previous targets to bang on the zeitgeist. (as in not stopping if the game dev in question gets universal acclaim not to piss of fanboys, but well i know its easier to ride on anger of redditors and twatters)

Also he should stop with them stupit hottakes on tw that go often much against his "holy mission to help poor devs"

I was going through the lawsuit and for that complaint their source seems to be Tim Sweeny's tweet which mentions Steam have price veto power. This is also mentioned in the other lawsuit earlier this year as the "Most Favoured Nations" provision but it looks like the complaint holds no water as noted in this write-up. Is Steam really conspiring to price fix?

I'm not sure why they're using Tim's tweet as source of information when they can use the Steam Distribution Agreement. Of course further in the thread Tim does backtrack a little bit so not exactly a reliable source of information. Shoutout to CommodoreKong for calling him out.

,
Tim has responded to several of my tweets and it's always surprising when he does. I actually turned off Twitter notifications on my phone the first time because I was getting way too many notifications and it was really annoying.

I'm too old and jaded at this point in my life but what's newsworthy here? Admins and chairmen getting stupidly high bonuses? The people down the ladder getting only a fraction of the ones at the top get?
Agreed, I can't get angry at this stuff anymore.
I have to worry about this exact shit with my own job, let alone worrying about it in and around my hobbies

Monopoly is good if it's the company I like, I'm sure it won't backfire :grimacing-face:
yeah .... honestly - acquisitions suck no matter who does it

but epic have been particularly bad about this in the past few months ... they've been buying up dev tools left and right

The deluxe edition costs more than the game and the dlcs together :astonished-face:
No it doesn't. Deluxe Edition includes the Stage Pass which isn't listed.

The Digital Deluxe Edition contains the full game and the R-Type Final 2 Stage Pass, which includes DLC Set 1, 2, and 3. Altogether they consist of a variety of new stages.

R-Type Final 2's PC version seems great. Supports high resolutions and framerates, along with key remapping. The game looks and sounds wonderful too, with some really good art direction. As for the gameplay, the shooting feels good, but I suck at R-Type-style memorizers, so I can't comment very deeply on it. Definitely feels like a release worthy of the premium price tag though. I hope it ends up being successful.

Paradox DLC are nosediving in quality lately, and I say that with thousands of hours played across all their grand strategy games. Lately the DLC are super overpriced and this one in particular just breaks the game, economy is broken (you can get virtually infinite money) and balance is an issue, you can colonize an entire continent in a short span and even the most remote indigenous tribe has more city development than Paris or Vienna,

Honestly i really don't like this whole consolidation thing and companies buying studios and tools/middleware. That is how monopolies are starting. Soon Epic will own all major tools/middlewares and making Unreal Engine more-less only viable engine out there.

that's absolutely their goal ... but i guess no one cares since i haven't seen big devs or journalists saying anything beyond "wow, that's so cool"

Good news for Shadow (a priori)! Shadow/Blade belong to OVHcloud now.

IIRC they wanted to pivot onto B2B, which made me decide to finally buy a new laptop. I'm out, honestly, pretty much most buyers were awful.

I'll sound like an ass but 30% 20% 10% it doesn't seemingly matter I still get nothing on my end as the one paying for the fucking thing regardless of what storefront it is bought from. So it's like okay, win me over why I should give a shit? Games are still 60+ at launch on stores with lower revenue splits.
Devs get more money

Well, I guess I'll finally give this game a try. The dev also wants to put RTX in Six Inch Under. Don't know what that is, but I'm guessing it's a DLC/Expansion? :minos_thonking:
you should ... it's seriously great!

Selling 14 million copies is now considered a flop. Nothing is sustainable in this industry anymore.

Everyone is so money hungry I expect all game prices to rise in the next 4-5 years.

30 will be the new 20
45 will bet he new 30
60 will be the new 45
90 will be the new 70

Gamers get nothing out of it in the end. Basically pay more and shut up.
