He seems to be hinting to either XVI news (or something that I can't really think about) on Friday. Although the fact that he says years is throwing me off
Man, Raphael Colantonio name-dropping both Dishonored and Prey in reference to this has me unreasonably excited. There's no way I won't be disappointed by whatever they actually end up revealing lmao. My expectations are now way too high.
Good, get this out of the way then I might get to play Rebirth before 2027

The only games they had for this period was that Saga game and the steam KH ports. In order for there to be profit you have to release something new that generates a lot or sell older stuff but as has been stated already jrpgs tend to have next to 0 legs. This isn't exclusive to rebirth or yakuza or any one jrpg series it covers nearly all of them. So the profit would have to come from something new releasing and I'm going to guess the majority of the ~0.5% profit they generated was the KH ports.Everyone piling on Dex in otherforum, accusing him of reading the report wrong, while the "defenders" of square read the report "wrong"
What has the out-of-launch-period to do with the profitability of a company?
Shouldn't the profitability be UP outside of the Launch? Wouldn't that be the period where your investment in single-player games is DOWN and your profit would be UP because you sell an already finished product without much costs?
Your 99% argument is nonsense, that would mean, in the launch period that the single player segment had 99 times more revenue than the MMO segment.
I'm not sure Y8 is as low budget as most people seem to think. It had a significantly higher marketing push than any past yakuza game, even doing commercials with celebrities, and the end result was it selling pretty much the same as all the other multiplat yakuzas. They do a pretty good job keeping their budgets in line (and honestly their reuse of every minigame for like 10 games now has gotten painful) but that's still a higher budget than 7 for roughly the same result. Not really sure what youre trying to drive at here. Yakuza 8 is certainly a much lower budget game than Rebirth was; if they only sell "a few million" as far as we know, across three different platforms, how does it make any sense at all to keep investing a much larger budget into games that sell 3 mil at launch then fall off a cliff sales wise?
I love JRPGs, but I also accepted a long time ago that their time as a viable "AAA budget" genre has long since passed. There's great new output still at the AA and indie level, and I'm totally OK with that.
Eh... I'm not sure about that. Maybe on consoles is still like this but nowadays back catalogue sales on Steam are very common even for Japanese RPGs. Look at Sega's financials, the Persona series got an extra 790k sales from April 1st to June 30th and those are all back catalogues sales. Yakuza also seems to haveno issue getting extra sales even without new releases. Obviously those happen during big sales, but well money is money, and the more games you have the more money you can get in the long runIn order for there to be profit you have to release something new that generates a lot or sell older stuff but as has been stated already jrpgs tend to have next to 0 legs. I want to point out that one of the reasons why SE games don't have so many catalog sales on pc (at least) is because their games don't get so many deep discounts they rarely go below 50% (it's not KT levels of bad but still not deep enough for older games).Eh... Yeah, no. Your gripe is entirely about graphics.this isn't just visuals it's also about game depth too. There's only so far you can take things when you're so severely restricted by budget or tech and you end up just retreading old ground constantly. That's just stagnation.
And because they are literally dumb enough to remove perfectly working JRPG PC versions from sale because they are releasing a cash-grab port of them exclusively on another platform.I want to point out that one of the reasons why SE games don't have so many catalog sales on pc (at least) is because their games don't get so many deep discounts they rarely go below 50% (it's not KT levels of bad but still not deep enough for older games).
It's the least stuttery UE5 game I've played, so that's a plus.EDIT: Also out now, initial reviews seem to be fine but nothing special, opencritic average of 78:

Yeah, so they can get fired twiceMeta says that Ready at Dawn employees are encouraged to apply to other studios within the Oculus Studios umbrella.
Tell me you didn't play Chained Echoes without telling me you didn't play Chained Echoes. And yeah unfortunately it seems like this genre has a pretty hard cap on its sales which limits what it can do but I don't think I can ever come to terms with that. Indie jrpgs like sea of stars and chained echoes while good for what they are, are still chasing SNES era games which is far too much regression for me. Meanwhile many publisher backed games (even from atlus whose last game sold like 7m copies) still seem like they're targeting the ps3 and this isn't just visuals it's also about game depth too. There's only so far you can take things when you're so severely restricted by budget or tech and you end up just retreading old ground constantly. That's just stagnation.
If it had a good launch discount on Steam I'll grab it and replay it. I really liked it when I played it on PS5.Ubisoft started promoting Steam Deck?
The game was updated to fix the locale issue.
Out now, but checking the comments in the community hub, the game shows incorrect backgrounds or sprites if the system locale is not set to japanese.
Good job, new unpaid intern at ubisoft!Heyyy, they actually did it.
Does it have magical power of love (Semen)?

The new game by Radical Fish Design, the same team that made CrossCode. The screenshots aren't doing it any favours, but in motion it's looking pretty interesting.
