CDPR was like what if we throwaway all the good will away like other fan favorite companies but even faster. Like, look where they were 1 week ago. In a position where they could do nothing wrong for many people despite all the marketing shit for Cyberpunk. And now they take every opportunity to show their asses with pleasure it seems like.

Anyway, in other news I finished Gears 5.
Played it in coop.
Maybe wouldn't have finished when I played it on my own.
It's fine. I like it. Gears is always pretty good because at the end of the day it is Gears. Which is why it is also "one of those"
Liked a lot of the story stuff they did, driving around with the skiff was fun, it looked absolutely great. The use of the colour palette in the final act is maybe one of my favorites in videogames so far. And it isn't even something outlandish.
In the main series I would still rank it behind 3 and 4 though because for me those two had better encounter design through it. Or maybe I would rank it above 4 because while the encounters are really tight after the first act it also features sections that are just the horde mode and I don't like them.

I guess they wanted to speedrun it. This must be some world record in ruinning your reputation.

Pretty cool!

Also I understand the whole Solidarity thing with Skatebird but maybe they should focus on making their game not suck ass first before just trying to again grab attention for themselves on someone else's coattails of bad news on twitter (This is like their second time doing it, not to mention every time i've tried their free temp demos on steam it's been not great). Once you get over the fact that lol bird, it's kind of a horrible skate boarding game which is kind of sad since there's not really many on PC.

Yeah, that demo was not good. I remember the dev complaining that EGS wouldn't moneyhat them or something and all I could think was "no shit lol".

Every time we get winter weather here I get the urge to play Frostpunk. Last year I was playing it for the first time during some nice snowstorms and it set the mood so well I think it's going to be a thing I come back to each year. Going to buy the expansion in the winter sale and get those tiny computer people warm again.

edit: we have a comfy like now? this is getting pretty granular.

Capcom? Square Enix?
Its always the downside with new console launches and small install base. Starting over shit is risky. The first year or two is rough for many devs if you don't release a quality game. You have nothing to fall on and you sales will flop regionally.

And Japan won't care until your either have a killer app or your console is not 500$ lol. The Switch will dominate for decades to come.

The lucky good news for many Japanese devs is they have PC gaming to really fall on this time around unlike 2013 or 2006.

PS5 + Steam almost guarantees good revenue.

Lol The stock for CDPR was super super over inflated anyways, they lost a 1 billion Monopoly dollars

I feel bad for all the people who are stuck with the game being seemingly shit but that's why you don't pre-order stuff

How many people are going to Pre-order and/or buy Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League by Rocksteady for the PC or Xbox and just end up with Arkham Knight 2.0, they got that delisted for purchase Steam so I mean thats a special achievement in its own right

This part is pretty sad though.
In only a couple of days, CD Projekt fell from the most adored studio to the most hated one. Restoring trust is not impossible, but would need much time and effort.
People really don't give a damn about CDPR's bigotry over the past years, as well as the crunch problems. But when the game is buggy, that's where people draw the line, reputation gone!

Talk about "losing wealth" is fucking stupid as hell when most of that wealth is tied up to a single asset-- in this case CDPR stock. It like saying Amazon's share price went down by 2% because the market was down that day, OH NO JEFF BEZOS LOST $15 BILLION!!! No one writes that article because its stupid. Of course he did, the price rebounded tomorrow and he made $25 Billion or whatever. CDPR will be the same, either it will recover or it won't no one cares except people who own that stock. Pointless comment to make.

Billionaires shouldn't exist anyway.

I feel like this is written by someone who knows nothing of the devs past for someone who has no interest in the medium. On which planet is CDPR known for sterling launches? I love their games but theyve always had bugs - it's just that they get patched to shine later. I feel like they're is also a lot of overblown hyperbole going. on. Yeah the Devotion thing is shitty and Cyberpunk is messy, but really now? Let's all just take a step back abd breathe.

So, that's the 6th new trails game after Cold Steel 2 already, (including Zero and Ao, since they're not officially out in english yet) :face-with-cold-sweat:
Zero, Ao, Cold Steel 3 & 4, Hajimari, Kuro. Did I miss anything?
Way behind again, lol.

Nayuta as well.
Are you telling me this game is actually connected to Sky, Cold Steel, etc? :face-with-cold-sweat:
I've always thought it's just its own thing that just happens to have "Trails" in the name.

I haven't played it myself, but my friend who has played every Trails game (Nayuta and Hajimari as well) wholeheartedly believe Nayuta is going to be relevant to the mainline games in the future. Don't know his reasoning, but I would say Falcom's sudden want to remaster this game after all these years should be hinting at something.

So anyone got any tips for some cheap, fun and innovative euro-jank to get during the sales?

Currently eyeing Parkan 2 on GOG for 9 SEK...

Very interesting 👀
Then I'll hope we get it on PC as well :blob_hype:
And Zero/Ao Kai in English too.

Downunder.
Trails game has finally caught up in the visuals that look like a PS4 game. But sadly, everbody else has moved on to PS5 graphics.
Well, I don't think most Trails fans aren't in it for the graphics though. Besides, expecting RTX tech from Falcom is a fool's errand. That's strictly PH3's territory. :dana_wink:

Those backgrounds legit look like PS3 graphics
If only PS3 texture sizes are larger than 512x512 pixels like in those screenshots! :dana_blanket:

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if they're retconning someone again in the remaster. God, I fucking hate retcons. :dana_tense:

Even people playing Ubi games know that Ubi is shit.
That said, the XP boost isn't needed. You level up so fast in AC:Valhalla and even doing some side content will over-level you dramatically. I'm utterly confused why it exists but for people who want an easy mode beyond the easy mode.

But think of the people who can't game more than 20 hours a week 2 hours a week, they have a life! And Family! And better things to do than sitting down and play gasp whisper Videogames. Ubisoft, bless their heart, has the answer.

That's probably true. It's all bout the writing, isn't it?

But honestly, I'd rather they stick with Zero/Ao graphics (which is basically just the enhanced version of OG Trails) than the full 3D yet cheap looking visuals of Cold Steel series.

Yeah, agreed on both points. I mean, Witcher 3 on PS4 at launch (and for quite a while after that) had several open world areas run at <= 20 FPS consistently, but it seems like no one remembers that.

I guess this is current discourse on the internet, where everything has to be either perfect or the worst ever.

There is an argument to be made about time for playing games and these long games that have a lot of bloat.
