The Callisto reception is heartbreaking, was really looking forward to it
Monster Hunter Ryza, the long awaited Atelier and MonHun collab.Oh, yeah I could play Monster Hunter Rizé, too.
funny, them not putting the game up on any 3rd party stores is what prevented me from buying the game and thereby they actually saved my ass. What's crazy, is from steam reviews (nearly 2000 now) it seems like it was going to be a big seller (still might be, but I'm sure it won't be near what it should have been) and yet they botched it up so badly. So many people on different forums myself included have dropped any idea of buying it now.
Remember when Krafton called this a "AAAA" game.
same , but like i have zero problems waiting for them to fix the performance at leastI got Callisto Protocol with a pricing error when they opened up pre-orders, so Im not refunding, but still sad to read about the game.
Yeah, my unplayed library will make waiting for a performance patches super easy.like i just bought 3 long jRPGs and tons of indies during Autmn sale ... i will survive for months
Yup, this always looked mediocre at best. Gotham Knights always looked bad and Forspoken is probably next since that has also always looked mediocre from the start.Always go with your gut.
Calisto has looked consistently mid, and developers/publishers can fuck off releasing broken versions on PC. Fuck them.
When a dev hypes the game on one inconsequential thing, and for this one, it was the body horror/gore, always be suspicious as to why they don't lead with gameplay. The Callisto reception is heartbreaking, was really looking forward to it
It's a good time to be a 40K fan.Thinking I might use the money I was going to use for The Callisto Protocol on the Rogue Trader Alpha next week. At least their I know it is an early release Alpha for the game.
I also realise, with hindsight, me praising Darktide but avoiding The Callisto Protocol for the time being as hypocritical. But on the other hand there is a £30 difference between Callisto and Darktide. Plus if Vermintide has taught me anything it is that Fat Shark will support the game going forward. The development team here is just too new and unknown to put any faith into them so far.
The examples I saw on a few review videos back this up, it's really bad. And it's a shame because I was hoping that half of the game would do the heavy lifting since card combat is such a huge turn off for me.Performance Issues aside, i am enjoying the gameplay of Midnight Suns quite a lot but...
this might very well be the single worst written game i've ever played.
It feels like we're right back in the midst of the 360/PS3 era when the AAA/big name games were garbage ports on PC and the indies got their shit together in this area. I think the reliance on a limited number of middleware is part of the problem. Not that Unity or Unreal arent great engines (they are), but devs can't just build on top of them and hope for the best in terms of optimization. The examples I saw on a few review videos back this up, it's really bad. The performance thing is making me reach my boiling point with PC. UE stutter is one thing and it gets most of the attention by people but I think people in general are really overlooking just how god awful PC performance has gotten. Even if you just look at recent releases you have this, gotham knights and callisto protocol all struggling to maintain 60fps on 4090s (other high end gpus too). People are paying the price of entire PCs in the past for just GPUs and they're getting abysmal performance. Devs' lack of optimizing has gotten so bad that you can't even brute force through the issues with GPUs that are 8x stronger than a PS5.
There really needs to be some sort of seismic shift in PC gaming where people have had enough of this nonsense. It's affecting practically every game release in the last ~2 years.
Sad! I bought this at release, it is okay, but what I really would like is GH/RB on PC.Harmonix's DJ game FUSER is getting delisted.
Here's hoping they put a discount sale before that happens

Will the alpha be on Steam with purchase of the higher tier package from their website? Or will it be a separate download? I am tempted to pick this up, had no idea the alpha was going to be playableThinking I might use the money I was going to use for The Callisto Protocol on the Rogue Trader Alpha next week. I am not sure, would need to dig it out. I seem to remember the suggestion would be that it would be through there store for the Alpha. I'll have to have a look. Will the alpha be on Steam with purchase of the higher tier package from their website? Or will it be a separate download? Because Sony is the company of BIG GRAPHICS, realism and top notch animations, they have everything to lose if making bad portsIts still very funny to me that Sony of all companies is releasing constant high quality ports while every other AAA company is shitting the bed.
oh and SEGA’s ports this year have been surprisingly solid too aside from Sonic Origins.
shades of nintendo's "some people have issues with pokemon's performance" tweet.

Well, you can't forgot the time traveler that plays on 20900k and rrttxx 40090 24 yottabyte.

meanwhile here i am having time of my live gaming on midrange laptop and deck .... why is it that some people only see "PC gaming" as "only highend" (its almost like some poeple see the pcmr meme as a true encompasssion fo pcgaming as a whole)It feels like we're right back in the midst of the 360/PS3 era when the AAA/big name games were garbage ports on PC and the indies got their shit together in this area. edit: admittedly, even the ps5/xbox versions don't get the same kind of love like they did in that era, but the pc analogy is more apt.
This is not a logical fallacy. If something is true for everyone in a group, it is, by definition, also true for "some" in that group. (assuming a non-empty domain)

I don't disagree with you. I haven't played a game released this year, and day1 perch is for fish markets; but to say that there haven't been issues with optimizations across gaming,(especially the UE stutter issue, this long into the engine's life) would be disingenuous.meanwhile here i am having time of my live gaming on midrange laptop and deck .... why is it that some people only see "PC gaming" as "only highend" (its almost like some poeple see the pcmr meme as a true encompasssion fo pcgaming as a whole)
and "only Day1 playing". (#fuckFOMO)
My usual wait for content complete before proper playthrough has never been more worth it than nowadays
Hopefully he isn't forcing extreme crunch because of the rather tepid launch response.
I was kinda annoyed when i saw complaints in reviews how game is too similar to DS. For the love of god last DS game was released almost decade ago and since then we didn't have similar games so it was the point to scratch that itch and make game in similar vain as DS. Then complaints how game is linear, again that's the point of the game.Apart from the technical issues (haven’t tested the patch yet) I am loving Callisto Protocol, even on though I am currently limited to my Steam Deck (30 fps, mostly low settings, sub native res, had stutters pre patch). I am really looking forward to replaying it on a proper high end PC down the line when it’s in better technical shape. I hope the New Game + mode they are adding works with my current save and lets me bump the difficulty up to high lol. Easily a 4/5 game for me if the second half maintains the quality of the first half.

Not only does it go for the MCU quippiness which im already not a fan of, the quips are so fucking tryhard funny it just makes me roll my eyes.
At least it allows you to put all characters into swimsuits like a real JRPG, very based
