Kinda silly that freaking Linux might be a better platform for games than Windows if this keeps being an issue. If only Valve could make shader cache downloads available for Windows.
And when is the last time the games media did any sort of consumer advocacy?Pretty obviously talking about games media etc.., giving big warnings in reviews saying not to get the PC version until it is sorted. I mentioned already to have Valve putting things like a banner on games affected, like they do with Denuvo.
I'm confused then, so what is the solution? And when is the last time the games media did any sort of consumer advocacy?
What are you expecting from these people?
Also, it is absolutely not Valve's problem that this shit keeps happening. They offer a reasonable refund policy. That's all you can reasonably ask of them.
I added some thoughts in an edit to my previous post, but yeah, there is no solution. The only thing you can do is to not buy those games. Nothing will get fixed like that but at least you still hold on to your money.I'm confused then, so what is the solution?
Honestly, anything that pushes more people towards Linux is welcome. It would actually be wonderful if gamers start switching to SteamOS once it's available for everyone.Kinda silly that freaking Linux might be a better platform for games than Windows if this keeps being an issue. If only Valve could make shader cache downloads available for Windows.
It's not just graphics cards though, it's also every drivers for every graphics card and adding new cards etc. I really don't see it as a feasible alternative, Valves idea is much smarter with "crowd-processing" or whatever you can call it, if they ever get it working on Windows.I still don't understand why these big developers can't simply host compiled shaders for every graphics card. There's aren't that many fucking graphics cards that EA or Activision can't do this.
I don't blame him it's exhausting and inexcusable that this keeps happening. Thing is nothing will change as long as people keep preordering games, and I'm guilty of this too (though I didn't buy callisto or midnight suns). It's a tough habit to break.
Alex looking broken with all these stutter problems.
Obviously for a long time there has been issues, but it really feels like Epic needs to be to be taken to task for allowing this to go on for so long. It would be great if even places like steam had a warning/banner on each game, making people aware that there could be issues and as a way of lighting a fire under peoples asses.
They do.Kinda silly that freaking Linux might be a better platform for games than Windows if this keeps being an issue. If only Valve could make shader cache downloads available for Windows.
You're welcome!I blame Kvik real friends don’t show up on steam playing a jrpg, tempting you to buy it only for you to get rolled over by the game.
Why yes, I played Minstrel’s Song
that banner is done by the developer/publisher !!!!!Pretty obviously talking about games media etc.., giving big warnings in reviews saying not to get the PC version until it is sorted. I mentioned already to have Valve putting things like a banner on games affected, like they do with Denuvo.
Well shit, Midnight Suns has Denuvo?? Damn, I never knew... if they added that shortly after the game actually went live, thats scummy af and pretty questionable legally. That honestly would have pushed me off the fence on buying it at launch, if I had known.if it was done by Valve .. we woudnt have such scummy cases od this like the "last minute denuvo addition" of Callisto Protocol (banner got added week before release) or "hide it until actual release" of Marvels Midnight Sons (banner gor added like few hours after launch)
I had to do a double take seeing their logo. It resembled the neogaf logo quite a bit.
It's not as bad for a MP game in that sense, but every time you update your GPU driver that cache needs to be rebuilt and it will happen again. And again. And again. If I understood it correctly, it only happens the first time you play the game, so for a multiplayer game it might not be a huge deal, but for single player game it’s a disaster. It is kind of shame that epic has pretty much cornered the market on game engines and less and less game companies do their own, like cd project red switching to unreal for example.
Did they say that the expansion dlcs will be free?I don't have any of the Witcher games. Would it be best to pick up the trilogy bundle then the Expansion Pass for 3 or get the GOTY edition for 3 then complete the bundle. I won't be missing any content if I go the latter right?
Looking at the upcoming next gen update announcement looks like I may have screwed up not buying the base Witcher 3 and get all the DLC for free?
Get the GOTY for Witcher 3 and then complete the trilogy with W1 and W2. You won't get any expansion for free, only some minor DLCs if you get the base version of Witcher 3.I don't have any of the Witcher games. I’m unfortunately still not in love. Maybe the strange design choices clash with my ocd. You're welcome!
I definitely recommend avoiding trash mob fights though, ideally the main source for money and jewels came from solving quests only. Also consider getting chests/trap detection since you can get powerful items from it.
I inadvertently locked myself out of certain quests, so I'm considering restarting the game. I know you can retry the quest again in another playthrough, but I'm not sure if I want to complete the entire roster (including the new additions). So far, the game is great, though. I can see myself playing it through the holidays.
Get Witcher 3 Goty, you don't really need to play the other games before hand and that is such a meaty game especially with expansions. Get the other 2 later (still very much worth playing).I don't have any of the Witcher games. I probably would to be honest. I only use my PC for games and these days pretty much exclusively use Steam so It would be an easy switch i reckon.Honestly, anything that pushes more people towards Linux is welcome. It would actually be wonderful if gamers start switching to SteamOS once it's available for everyone.
Witcher 1 has aged like milk and has little impact on the overal story. I would just read or watch a synopsis and be done with it. Witcher 2 is still quite decent but not required.I don't have any of the Witcher games. Midnight Suns underperformed. It only peaked at 15.5k CCU on Steam while XCOM and XCOM 2 peaked at 70k and 133k respectively. I know Midnight Suns is on EGS, but even if its CCUs matched Steam 1:1 lol that would only bring it to about 31k which is still lower than Chimera Squad's peak. This week:
Last week:
To be honest, it shows something that I have been talking about for quite some time, this particular year has been a weird one when it comes to releases from October to December. Games that would have performed better on different times of the year yet they release outside their proper time area. it happened with Sony games, it happens with the other ones too.Midnight Suns underperformed. Why don't you see it as a feasible alternative? Drivers * cards = maybe a few hundred? You don't have to support old drivers nor do you have to support the newest driver for each game. If a game has been out 3 years, let the user compile (I know it sucks but let's be realistic). I KNOW these companies can spare a couple terabytes of storage to vastly improve the experience of their users. It's not just graphics cards though, it's also every drivers for every graphics card and adding new cards etc. I really don't see it as a feasible alternative, Valves idea is much smarter with "crowd-processing" or whatever you can call it, if they ever get it working on Windows.
shame they are turning the Witcher 1 remake into completely different gameThere is a Witcher 1 Remake in the works so if W1 feels too old to play then you can wait for the remake.
All of that, combined with 3 different SKU up to 100 euro, a 50 euro season pass and micro transaction, all of them well visible on the steam page of the game, and a Denuvo solution well beyond every limit that ties the game to a 5 activation limitTo be honest, it shows something that I have been talking about for quite some time, this particular year has been a weird one when it comes to releases from October to December. At this point I'm wondering if economic impact is affecting more than I anticipated.
Although, to be fair, I don't consider them bombas, just slower performers.
While I agree the economy is an issue, I still remain with my previous idea Avengers had a serious negative impact over the perspective of non-Sony Marvel games (and even in that case, the jury is still out since Spiderman 2 isn't out yet)To be honest, it shows something that I have been talking about for quite some time, this particular year has been a weird one when it comes to releases from October to December. One thing I hadn't thought of when I made that post was the fact 2K blocked Russian sales which likely hurt its reach as well. Also I don't think it's just underwhelming PC sales as it looks like console sales were also soft. (I know extrapolating total sales from UK boxed sales is dumb, and we really need a full month of NPD sales to get a clearer picture, but it gives a data point). To be honest, it shows something that I have been talking about for quite some time, this particular year has been a weird one when it comes to releases from October to December. I had to do a double take when I saw they were selling funbucks. From what I understand, they are only cosmetic skins, and season pass owners don't need to buy them, but it's still very obnoxious. All of that, combined with 3 different SKU up to 100 euro, a 50 euro season pass and micro transaction, all of them well visible on the steam page of the game, and a Denuvo solution well beyond every limit that ties the game to a 5 activation limit
That, and let's be serious, do you really think X-Com fans care about Marvel? Or that Marvel fans care about Tactical games? Midnight Suns always felt like a game for a fanbase that doesn't exists. If the fanbase was truly there it would have done more than 15k just like, for example, Sonic Frontiers did beat the series record despite the bad previews
tbh if anything Morbius is one of the few characters in that game that actually fits the source material as one of the former leader of the Midnight Sons teamincludes hit Marvel character, Morbius.
I think this is an important point. While I agree the economy is an issue, I still remain with my previous idea Avengers had a serious negative impact over the perspective of non-Sony Marvel games (and even in that case, the jury is still out since Spiderman 2 isn't out yet)

Well, same.I just want X-Com 3
Seems like they're stuck between a rock and a hard place with that. Sounds like including him does right by comic fans, but for someone like me, who knows nothing about comics, it feels like a joke. My understanding of Morbius begins and ends with "meme movie bombed twice lmao," and I can't imagine that's an uncommon perspective.tbh if anything Morbius is one of the few characters in that game that actually fits the source material as one of the former leader of the Midnight Sons team
Makes 0 sense for Iron Man or both Captains to be in that team
I think I read it wrongDid they say that the expansion dlcs will be free?
Either way, only the third game have paid dlcs. The other games don't have any paid dlcs
