I replaced three 500 Gb ssd drives with 2000 Gb ssd drives today to make room for my Steam collection. I may have gone overboard with installing games (all the icons except the recyling bin are new as of today):

You need to use the busiest wallpaper you can find just to twist the knife in a bit more :D
It'd be awesome if you could arrange them so the shading of the icons make a picture too.

I was in a mood to play some space sim game so I got Elite Dangerous, I jumped into the tutorial and I'm completely lost with the kb+m controls. :cryingwhyblob:

It's playable with KB&M but there's a metric crapton of bindings to remember. Basically, it's 6dof, meaning you want to go for ctrl/space for down/up, probably the usual FPS controls for forward/back/left/right and Q/E for roll. X also is throttle to zero which will be lifesaver. I believe you really want to bind freelook to something, which is MMB by default iirc. That's at least a good starting point, everything else is secondary after these. The only tips I could give you is to also bind the Framshift Drive to another bind from Supercruise, and to bind Night Vision to something because god damn is it useful given that space is black half the time.

All in all, Elite is one of those games where you will spend a good amount of time in the bindings. My first advice would be to get the sensitivity right for flight, and to not use mouse relative mode at the beginning unless you hate yourself. Alternatively, a gamepad probably works well but I have zero experience with this one!

Edit : Oh, also! You start in a protected environment, the pilot's federation or something like that. Do not leave these systems for the time being. You will not be able to return as soon as you jump a rank, which happens very fast. Seriously, make at least a million and enjoy this protracted tutorial, get a Cobra III or a ship you fancy. Once you've touched everything, then you should have a good handle on how to fly in general and be able to get out into the bubble.

Or just config your own controls after seeing what's what and how common their use is likely to be.

I set many next/previous/primary/secondary/directional stuff to the same handful of buttons/keys but with normal press, Shift + press, ALT + press CTRL +, etc.

Also get a flight stick (to use in combination with kb) if not hotas :p

Also play it in VR :p

:p

try the simplified gamepad controls - those are at least manageable for people who don't have 10 arms :p
Never played with the simplified controls, but even with a HOTAS with buttons and dials everywhere I STILL needed to use a keyboard with a mouse pad on it.

yup, it really is THAT complex

but the simplified gamepad controls are really laid out well ... you can do pretty much 90% of the most common stuff just using the gamepad

Thanks you for the tips. I'm looking into the key configs and that thing is extense. I'll try to set it as a FPS as it is something that I'm more used.

I only need money to do it

Hah, me too. Uninstalled it right in the tutorial. Tried it earlier this month.

Is it on by default? Because I already played with gamepad but it's still so complicated lol.

When are we supposed to learn about what Harebrained Schemes is doing?????

I feel this deeply. I have loved just about everything they have put out since Dragonfall. I am interested in seeing what they do with a new franchise, since it seems they are not doing Battletech 2 (which is a bummer since Battletech + DLC is amazing)

I can understand why console gaming is so popular. I mean for $200-$300USD that seems like a very reasonable price.

I was at GameStop today (I ended up picking up a PS5 media remote) and there was a dude that wanted to get Into PC gaming. My friend who works at GameStop knows about gaming PC it's just that he is not too familiar with gaming laptops.

The customer wanted to see if there was a gaming laptop that he could get for $200USD $300USD being the most that he was okay with spending.

My friend looked up their online inventory, the cheapest gaming laptop that GameStop sells cost $800USD and all of those were sold out. Also my friend tells me that GameStop actually does sell GPUs online and stuff.

In the end I told the guy he could go to Walmart and buy one of the ones that they had there (a windows PC ) and if he didn't like it that he could just return it. He wanted to play stuff like Civ V and World of Warcraft. I told him that with Civ V that he could get a refund if the game didn't work.

I mean if your lucky you could buy a used PC for $300USD that's pretty decent and from the last 5 years.

im really lttp but i finally started LiS2 (finished ep1) and if anything happens to Mushroom im going to lose it

I will start posting soon.

They appeared 2 days ago On the microsoft store.
And I explained why, mostly due to the GamePass configuration as they don't do anything like allowing purchase and no pack either, so Store just has the pages opened so the GP process can be completed.

Same happened with Y7 to be fair, but that one didn't go to GP day one.

Except for the top 10, the results have been made public.

Spelunky 2 only at # 16 is disappointing. Its as close to a perfect game as I ever played. I guess it was just too frustrating and difficult for most. I played it for 167 hrs and only maybe 40 of those hours were fun runs. I mean I get it but still thought it would be higher. Maybe many haven't bought it yet but I strongly recommend it to everyone here. Game is so good and addicting.

That cheeky vote for C77 as an EA game made me chuckle. Well played :p.

I'm a bit disappointed that NMS ranked so highly, but then again this is people's opinion. I just think that this game still falls way short of what it was marketed as and isn't all that amazing overall.

I haven't played it since I don't own the game and neither do I own Spelunky 1 but you are probably right that "frustration and difficult" comes sometimes with a price. That alone might be a reason for some players to avoid roguelikes and roguelites games. I for once did for a lot of time and I'm still very cautious buying them because of what you said.

I sometimes find out very good games despìte not being of my personal taste like "Iron Fisticle" (Thanks Playtracker/LittleDinamit) for this because I have opened up my mind and my personal gaming preferences by a lot.

I played it in VR with a group of friends (which is basically the most the situation could be stacked in favour of any game) and we still dropped it rather quickly. For comparison, we spent a ton of time exploring The Forest with the same group.

Sorry for the off-topic but I wanted to share something that happened yesterday and was heartbreaking at so many levels.

Yesterday I was walking in one of my favorite beach walks, all the restaurants and shops were closed due to covid restrictions but there was one in particular in which there was this man at the entrance of his, probably, favorite place, I took a picture without him noticing because, FUCK, this covid shit is absolutely heartbreaking :crying-face:

If you are a sensible person, please, do not open the spoiler, it's sad.
