There's one thing I forgot to mention and that Alexandros said which is oft-forgotten when it comes to discussing the cost of PC Gaming. Unless you're a doofus like me leaving everything behind and having to rebuild a rig from scratch, you usually start with a decent number of spare parts and a basis to build up from. HDD, RAM, PSU, etc. Those can make up up to half the cost.

Sometimes, like yesterday, I forget how wonderful PC is when it comes to backwards compatibility. Out of the blue I went and downloaded Deadcore, downloaded and started playing it with no problem at all. I already had played it before so I continued with my save.

I then needed some help with something so I checked the store page and the game apparently releases in 2014. I haven't touched it since 2014, yet it supports Steam cloud so the save worked and everything.

This made me realize how glorious PC gaming for games. 6 years later I downloaded it with the save still intact due to cloud which I don't pay for unlike on PS and Nintendo and no compatibility issues.

These are things I take for granted with PC gaming, consoles on the other hand....ooof. And the game isn't even on consoles lol.

Far Cry 5 is a solid entry in Ubisoft's open-world FPS series. But a plethora of issues hold it back from greatness. Some technical, some ancient design decisions. It also doesn't help that it overstays its welcome by a fair bit.

The Good:

• USA setting is a breath of fresh air for the series
• Villains are interesting
• Campaign is a great ride
• World feels dynamic; Random NPCs give out useful location infos
• Surprise and interesting ending
• A lot of things to see and do in the world
• Buddy System is greatly improved and adds a great extra layer

The Bad:

• Technically the game feels dated while still looking good
• Underlying design feels ancient due to it basically still being Far Cry 3
• Too much repetition in mission design and side tasks
• A lot of side activities are menial padding
• Open World isn't as well utilized as other games, e.g. RDR2
• Enemies only carry the same small pool of basic guns
• Weapon selection is bland; Too costly for a regular playthrough to experiment
• Map regions are too similar to each other
• While the campaign is fun, anything else feels decisively low budget
• No excursions to other maps is a letdown

In the end, I enjoyed my journey through Hope County and its many eccentric citizens, both good and bad ones. But while the first 20 hours were filled with joy of exploration, it immediately turned into tedium starting with the second region, as you are hit with a repeating template of design choices. Once I realized this, it became a slog to clear non-story missions and the only thing that got me going was the main story and its missions.

Ubisoft absolutely needs to change things up going forward. The Far Cry template set into stone by Far Cry 3 has long grown ancient. That's only ever exaggerated by the many competing open-world games that feel several generations ahead of Far Cry 5. Not sure whether the Dunia game engine is to blame, but while Montana's forests are lush in greenery at first sight and can impress at certain day times, there is no question that it ultimately looks and feels like a late-PS3/Xbox360 era game souped-up to an extreme.

A lack of meaningful dynamic world systems ranging from wildlife, NPCs, physics and more create a surprisingly dull and empty world. Systems feel not integrated or deep enough in this day and age. Don't take me wrong here, Far Cry 5 is still a solid game overall with solid shooting mechanics and a solid presentation. But just like junk food, if you only get the same stuff, it gets a chore to consume.

We've got so much weird stuff going on, covid, bitcoin, some rare earth element undersupply that's fucking up some chip, scalpers, worldwide shipping being kinda overloaded, etc. I doubt they're interested in not selling cards by asking too high a price. I'm sure somebody here knows why exactly. It's probably a convergence of problems nvidia and amd would like to see go away too.

Reminds me of that weird moment in time approximately 10 years ago, where hard drives were pretty much impossible to get a hold of, due to flooding in Asia. What a weird time that was! No HDDs available almost globally due to that.

Desperados 3 might be the hardest game I have played in recent memory. This is my first rodeo in the real time tactics genre and I'm getting my face kicked in real good. It took me an hour to finish the 4th mission and I quick saved around 100 times. It's enjoyable, but I'm not sure how much I like the constant trial and error gameplay.

I really liked D3 but i haven't finished it due to the later levels becoming a long slog (for me). For most of the game a level was taking me the best part of an hour or I could finish it in one night but towards the end i found that i couldn't finish a level in an evenings play session and so i just sort of bounced off it.

I think i preferred Shadow Tactics overall but do like D3.

Tencent is reportedly raising billions on a debt offer and may force hostile takeovers of a U.S.-based company, possibly Take-Two.

Sources tell TMT Finance that Tencent is raising billions to buy out a new game company. Insiders believe Tencent could force a hostile takeover of Grand Theft Auto parent company Take-Two Interactive, or possibly make a deal to buy out EA.

Glad SS remake is still happening, I thought it was postponed indefinitely like SS3. And the game urgently needs it because, let's be honest, it's barely playable today.
Getting SS2 is just icing on the cake. It's not needed per se, as the game is still perfectly playable today, especially with fan mods, but it's a nice gesture to bring a [UWSL]quintessential[/UWSL] PC game and one of the best games ever made into the 21st century.

Regarding the Serious And More Respectable Entertainments available on that list, I'm glad to see that Wingman and Creeper World are apparently doing well!

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy that so far has been released only in Japan and Asia, shipped 220,000 copies, up from the 150,000 reported after its first week on the local shelves.

Was thinking about picking up Valhalla soon-ish but I think I will wait even longer until the Ultimate Edition gets hella cheap. I feel burned out on their new formula after two games already despite both being alright-ish (Odyssey) to pretty good (Origins). Kinda want them to return to one, maybe two to three big cities though I don't see that happening.
