Eh, Noctua is out of stock on the CPU fan I wanted, only sell some good condition second hand on Amazon.
Excuse me while I go scream in a bottle. And side eye the cat. This was clearly not a good time to wake me up.

I should have known changing his food and going back to bed would break the universe.

Sword Art's gameplay is fun and the localization is solid, but the game's a buggy technical mess.

No resolutions above 1080p
Crashed completely when I alt-tabbed. Couldn't even alt+f4 it or kill the process through task manager so I had to restart my PC.
Very unoptimized, runs way worse than Fatal Bullet does, despite that game looking about on par with this one. Constantly drops frames in combat making it feel clunky
Camera sucks a lot at following you when you lock on. Much easier to control the camera when it's not locked onto anything
Object collision is wonky, you can just randomly run through objects out in the field
Missing subtitles/character models from cutscenes
Not detecting my g-sync on my monitor, keeps screen-tearing unless I turn back on v-sync
2+ minute loading times on my SSD, which can be fixed by locking the game to 30 fps in the settings and turning off v-sync.

The list goes on. The fact that it dropped a day early makes me hopeful that there might be a day one patch for the game to fix a lot of these issues tomorrow, but it might be getting that refund until it's fixed and/or has a cheaper price. I do want to play it, because I enjoy the combat and story, but Namco really botched this one at the moment. There's a setting in the options called anime downsampling and I have no clue what it does, but I figured I should mention it here because I found it pretty hilarious.

Well, at least there's Fairy Tail dropping at the end of the month. Guess it's time for me to catch up on that anime too.
Some users are reporting that setting the CPU affinity of EasyAntiCheat to 1 core is fixing the performance issues. :|

Am I ripping myself a new one or is it a good selling price ?

Picked up Death Stranding. A month ago I didn't think I would, but my interest in the game has really increased the past few days and in general I still want to play what a lot of people considerered their GOTY 2019.

I wouldn't have pre-ordered Death Stranding if I haven't decided to play it day 1. Same with Cyberpunk, Bloodlines 2 and Horizon.

These days I only pre-order games if I will play them between day 1 and day 7, if not, I will wait for a sale.

Anything else feels like money wasted. Why would I pre-order a game Im not gonna play in the week of release? Then I can simply wait for a sale and spare money.

Dragon's Dogma has turned out to capture my attention again. The story isn't as bad as I remembered it to be and the sense of travel really works for me, as does the night. It helps that playing a mage this time around and not a warrior makes a lot of encounters less frustrating.

I really like what Capcom was going for in this game, from the Berserk-like aesthetic (to the point where they removed a couple of armors that took from the manga too much) to the feeling of the world, largely empty but still lush and with many secrets. I'm actually not a huge fan of the combat, brilliantly animated but rather shallow in the end, but the rest really is holding my attention.

I'd really have liked a sequel with MH-grade combat mechanics in a properly fleshed out RPG world.

Because of the fine print you missed, while creating your Steam Account.
[UWSL][UWSL]I hereby agree to at least buy four games per year on release day that I will only start to play the tutorial and fiddle around with settings. [/UWSL][/UWSL]

Lol, it's true.
Or you can just get rid of EasyAntiCheat altogether. Open the game directory, go into the EAC folder and run the installer. You should be able to uninstall there. THen back in the game's folder add ".bak" to the end of "Launch_Game.exe" or move that EXE somewhere else. Then rename "sao_al.exe" to "Launch_Game.exe" and you are good to go. No more EAC.

where's the rest of the keyboard?
It's an Anne Pro 2, a 60% keyboard.

My main rig has a full one, same keycap profile (MT3) but different legends.

I'll be honest with you: I love your new keys.
Haha, I love it too. It's not dye-sub PBT like the original C64 though. It's ABS double-shot, but MT3 is hi-profile just like C64.

:dana_blanket:

PBT and ABS are the types of polymer plastics commonly used in keyboard caps. PBT is more durable and thicker. ABS is cheaper to produce but the best option for double-shot keycaps

dye-sublimation and double-shot are the manufacturing process used to imprint the legends (lettering) on keycaps. dye-sub uses heat to inject the legends into the plastic. double-shot is basically two plastic mould with different colours injected into a single one forming the legends.

hi-profile is basically how old UNIX/IBM terminal keyboard keys are arranged in a slant where the keys sit on an angle. If you view these keyboard from the side you can see that they form a slight curve. These keycaps attempt to mimic the effect in a modern keyboard.

Meterlogical event of the year coming for North east USA today! Tropical storm fay! I'm very excited.

Extreme weather always fascinates me.

Also, reporting that I'm garbage at playing video games. Got home at a reasonable time, made dinner fast, no chores and what do I do? Take a bike ride from 7:15 to 8:35 and then watch youtube and follow weather reports. I'm the worst.

I got new keycaps.

BlindRhythm will appreciate my ESC key.
Beautiful. These super stripped down keyboards are great if you've trained yourself to use them. Only issue that I see is the lack of a dedicated arrow keys, which I need for trackmania.

Yup, game is a mess from technical standpoint.

I just played for more than an hour, and as many users reported, the main issue comes from 60fps mode indeed. The game is simply not optimized for other than 30fps on PC. With 30fps mode enabled, the loading screen only takes 15-20 seconds and the game runs pretty stable at 1440p, albeit at 30fps. I'll run another test if my PC can handle it at 4k later. The game is not capped at 1080p at all, and you don't have to turn off v-sync for 30fps mode. V-sync off is needed for 60fps but it's a mess.

Other than technical issues, the game is pretty decent. I guess I'm content with it and will keep playing.
Weird, when I checked the resolutions it didn't go higher than 1080p. I guess I couldn't confirm it with other people when I made the post. I definitely believe you, but idk why it couldn't find anything higher than 1080p on my 1440p monitor.

I do agree with you from outside of a technical perspective, I do enjoy the gameplay and the coop looks fun.

Yuppie Psycho is a really interesting and oddly charming horror game with some neat ideas and a cool creepy style.

That said I hate the save system; I find myself more resource constrained regarding save items than playing even a Resi game, and so it's making me very risk averse in wanting to use items. End result is more frequent than i'd like repeating of some large sections if I die unexpectedly.

Also, as a side point, I saw there were multiple endings for this so looked into them as I didn't want to miss out, and there's some really obscure stuff I'd personally never have figured out.
Yeah, I don't like the save system either. Well I'm only at the beginning, but I'm basically out of pages all the time :/

Yo!

Also we are all old here.XD
FWIW, I'm pretty sure that the average age here (especially of frequent contributors) skews significantly higher than elsewhere on the internet, especially anywhere gaming-related.

I'm also pretty sure that has a positive impact on the place. Or let me reformulate that, since "positive" probably sounds too objective: it makes it more welcoming for other old farts (and, of course, young people who are old farts at heart :p).
