Wait, so Black Ops 6 is 310gb AND requires always online because it's streaming textures to keep install size down? Is this a joke?
Regarding the always online stuff: typical Activision–Blizzard stuff. They just love to do that — and will attach the flimsiest, most embarassing reasons onto those decisions. But its clear why: they want you to play the games a lot and spend more money on them.

Regarding the install size: bigger is better! and least in some exec's heads that's a logic that exist. Plus, if you use up the whole SSD, players cant play any other games, or spend their money elsewhere.

Honestly I can't get Expedition 33 out of my head. Haven't experienced something like this since Zelda Totk. Everything, literally everything looks and sounds perfect. Don't want to set myself up for disappointment, however I can't help but feel overwhelmingly hyped towards this game.

Edit: This trailer alone makes me want to start learning French so I can understand what they are singing. Jesus Christ videogame....
i'm a bit too skeptical with it being a new studio making their first game to be too excited for it before I see how it turns out, the level of blending turn based and action commands it has feels a bit unique too to the point where i'm honestly not sure how i'll feel about that in practice

that said i'm definitely interested in it and will play it if it turns out well, maybe even if it just turns out okay with that music

I just watched the Expedition 33 trailer again and man, I'm pretty sure I'm going to love the hell out of it. So hyped.

One funny thing about Expedition 33 to me is that the Western devs are embracing the title JRPG as the genre, meanwhile you have SquareEnix, a company that was quite foundational for that genre, and its current day developers are essentially saying it's racist, rejecting the moniker in the strongest terms. Just funny to me how the label is perceived around the world

I'm thinking about getting back into WoW with the special deal. Haven't played it in 13 years. Watch it be announced for Steam shortly after I buy it.
I sort of want to get this too but I don't feel like playing WoW right at this very moment. I wish their system let you buy the pack but the 60 day timer only starts when you first log in to the game, even if that happens a couple of months later.

Well Expedition 33 doesn't have turn based combat like other games. It is not fully turn based. For example you can dodge and parry in real time apparently. It is mix between real time and turn based combat.

The blending of real-time and turn-based is music to my ears, and judging from the trailer it looks similar to Mario RPGs where you press the button at the right timing to raise attack as well as defense. Shouldn't be too hard to pull off.

One thing to note though is that the team is small. Only 11-25 developers so this game is probably much more linear and shorter than most JRPG out there.

BG3 and Starfield taking up like 130gb of space each made me angry enough.

No fucking way I would ever install a 310gb game. COD players are insane for that.
I imagine there’s a lot of Call of Duty players that really only play CoD (or maybe one or two other games).

Yea but that is still like a 1/4 of my monthly data cap. You are then held hostage by this junk on your ssd because you shall never have to redownload a monster like that again. There is no chance I ever do that. They really did make COD a year long commitment lol.

And both BG3 + Starfield grew in size too with updates. The COD live service shit is probably getting daily updates

I kinda see the appeal of playing COD on consoles. I would just dedicate an entire console for COD only and no way I ever use it for my PC.

Looks like pre-ordering Black Ops 6 also gives you MWII and MWIII which is why it's so big. They will have a version with only BO6 at launch.

Watching the COD direct from yesterday..

And the devs are getting a little too excited about the new omni movement features. Having full 360 prone movement for the first time in a COD game lol.

Hey guys... MGS4 and Metal Gear Online did this like 16 years ago. You could throw grenades off your back and over your head at other players.

Even MGSV and its multiplayer modes which are 9 years old now let you run around full speed and dive to the ground while rolling around n everything with the hyper realistic movements.

A little late to the party here Treyarch.

I'll keep my expectation very low and look at it as "new fantasy IP" and not "Dragon Age".
Because DAI and esp. this don't look like DA Origins at all.

Yeah I mean that makes the most sense anyways, It's literally been a decade between games

For all purposes it could be like Baldurs gate 3, its essentially got nothing to do with the first two and its just a "Hey look its Baldurs gate 3!"

Outlaws looks really good but gameplay is kinda stiff.

Like choppy Rockstar stiff.

But its really ambitious and so refreshing not to see Jedi stuff in any of these trailers.

Lmao even after all this time they still have sweet fuck-all to show for the Sands of Time remake. Unbelievable.

Criticize Konami all you want but at least they can handle a basic one-to-one remake.

They did show "2026" :p and people cheered, for some reason

very boring showcase so far, but, well, expected

well they did just announce Anno 117 Pax Romana — no Steam logo of course, seems like theyre still tied to EGS

Unrelated to the stream but I just noticed this :

I doubt they'll go back and add them to all their recent releases but hopefully this means they got their heads out of their asses about supporting basic Steam features in the future.

given the massive delays and changes in dev teams (fun reminder: the original version was announced in September 2020 for a January 2021 release date), I would be surprised if it's still a 1:1 recreation of the original game rather than a ground-up remake. We'll see, though.

I was hoping that The Lost Crown would get a Steam announcement or shadowdrop, but not surprised it didn't

I know it's assassin's creed but I'm still impressed at what they're doing with the ninja character. There's a lot of elements that are new to the entire franchise that are mostly tied to her stealth oriented gameplay, to the point where it's coming off like a Thief game at times (it'll probably be better than Thi4f at least). Going prone, having a light and sound meter, extinguishing light sources, using the grapple hook to hide from enemies...really promising stuff for Ubi standards. The dynamic weather adding gameplay features is a nice touch too.

Another vid I saw after the event said there's no damage numbers in this game so that's another positive change. I'm sure it'll still have gear and stats though.

Ubisoft is literally only developer/publisher that is sticking to the Epic Store. Until this conference we saw 0 new Epic Store exclusives and then comes Ubisoft.
Because if you buy it on Epic it gets tied to your Ubisoft account. Which is a requirement anyways, it launches itself if you play it on epic or steam, however if you buy shit off epic for ubisoft since it's tied there you can just use the ubisoft launcher

That's how I got breakpoint for 5$ and is literally the only thing i've ever bought off epic, I had did all of co-op of Wildlands so me and my buddy thought that would be just as good Lol, oh well

That looks pretty much like what I was expecting. Given earlier leaks, it will have an action focused combat system, probably closer to something from Witcher 3, would be my guess. And it seems the story focus on Solas is there, plus some connections to the ending of Inquisition DLC.
So really all I was asking for. That first trailer was so ugly and dumb.

Here is a blast from the past. If you see some parts of the video, MGO3 was fun but was also a bunch of BS as well, I don't think that is how shooting should be like in a game, maybe it's because of lag or other issues but sometimes enemies felt like bullet sponges and yet all it took was for one hit and you are dead.

As for the 360 prone and other sorts of hyper realistic movement it's both cool and also BS but I guess that's where the realism kicks in and you go back to what we have learned from RDR2 about too much realism and how it ruins fun. You being on a rock moving just slightly and then you fall into an open area and die.

Hell.....has.... Finally frozen over.

It only took them this long. RIP Persona 3. I really would have liked for that and other past ATLUS CEs to have also been made for PC seeing how they were being made for Xbox for some strange reason.

Summary from the most upvoted comment of r/games thread:
  • 3rd person confirmed
  • Campsite companion system confirmed
  • Environmental exploration (use fire magic to burn branches creating new pathways etc.)
  • 5 different skill trees that have unique upgrades
  • Weapon upgrade and foraging systems
  • Weapons have a dynamic feel, so if you attack enemies with an underpowered weapon it’ll feel like it, same goes the other way
  • Flirt with elf companions
  • Dwarf companion confirmed
  • Backgrounds and Traits confirmed which influence dialogue in small/large ways
Why the fuck Obsidian didn't show anything listed here in the main trailer? Just one second of third-person gameplay and people who are not into 1st-person game would have gotten excited.
