Project Downfall looks pretty cool!
I'll be buying it. ;)

Thanks for the heads-up, prudis ! (y)

Project Downfall, a retro-style, cyberpunk, reflex-based first-person shooter with adventure elements, is available now for PC via Steam Early Access for $15.99 / €12.39, publisher and developer MGP Studios announced. The final version will also be released for Xbox One and Switch.

Welcome to a vision of the world on the edge of decay—a world in which the biggest political and economic clash since the Cuban Missile Crisis is now emerging. The European Union is in disarray. France and Germany are each embroiled in their own brutal civil wars. Poland and Hungary, on the other hand, have joined the Novorussian Federation. This new political power has, naturally, triggered the creation of its exact opposite – the Pact of the Transatlantic States, brought to life under the supervision of the United States to stop the crisis and become an alternative for an already weakened European Union.

To save declining government budgets, those in charge have started to look for ways of squeezing more from citizens already exhausted to the limit, and they have finally come up with a seemingly perfect solution: meds. Everyone capable of working is forced to routinely take medication prescribed by doctors in accordance with the newly adopted law. The meds program is aimed at creating a more efficient workforce.

Nothing comes without a price though: all chems have their side effects and sometimes just a tiny dose is enough to push you down the path of no return – one that will prove to you that an overdose of reality can have dire consequences.

Project Downfall is a retro-style, cyberpunk, reflex-based shooter with adventure elements, where the key to successful gunplay is to use cover and your pills at the right time in any given situation.

Self-medicated and low on ammo with no time to reload – and facing an enemy reloading right in front of you? Dash up to him and smack him with a self-medicated kick to send him flying. Dodge incoming bullets for a score multiplier. And rip enemies to shreds with your huge arsenal of weapons, including several different shotguns, a minigun, a berretta, a katana, and even a lead pipe.

Key Features

  • A fast-paced shooter that will test both your reflexes and quick thinking.
  • A non-linear story with multiple endings set in a cyberpunk, dystopian future that will be added during the Early Access development.
  • Unique, trippy, retro-style visuals.
  • An original soundtrack dynamically adapting to what’s happening on-screen.
  • A combo system based on self-prescribed pills, which opens a new dimension for you – a special Focus Mode, slowing down the action—crucial to your victory in combat.
  • A large weapons arsenal including several different shotguns, a minigun, a berretta, a katana, and even a lead pipe.
  • Lots of fun ways of dispatching your foes, or “cannon fodder” if you will.
  • The Superkick! Give your opponents a quick and completely free flying lesson!

Finished DMC5 on devil hunter, it's so good, unlocked some more stuff so started a playthrough on son of sparda,

DMC5 will be the dmc for me for replay, love the improvements, both Nero and Dante are so much fun to play as with their own bosses, no backtracking and dice puzzles.

I still haven't touched most of Nero's breakers and there're still a lot of moves with Dante I don't know how to use. For Nero I've been playing it too much like 4 so I'm going to have to spend more time messing with him.

The graphics and hair tech is really something in the game, love the blood effects on characters ingame.

I just noticed Sekiro now has pre-order bonuses listed (a digital artbook and soundtrack) on Steam.

Green Man Gaming doesn't list it (so it probably isn't included with their pre-orders), but Gamesplanet lists it as well.

I think I found my "chill game" for next month:

It's cool I'll be getting the game for "free". I bought the collector's edition of the developer's previous game (KURSK), which was supposed to include a future DLC, but they abandoned the development of that planned DLC, and will be offering the above game as a replacement. (y)

Started playing the Division 2 and went to do my usual key bindings. Was so happy to see a default left-handed option.

Saves me so much time when starting a game to not have to customise everything, then try it out and then tweak it some more.

I remember now that Ubisoft did it for Watch Dogs 2. I really wish more games had that option.

Started watching Kamen Rider Gaim, and it's way different compared to the other 3 I've already watched (in a good way).
The suits and powers this time are themed Sengoku Era + ....Fruits.
Urobuchi finds a way (yeah, it's written by Urobuchi of Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero, Thunderbolt Fantasy, etc fame). It's awesome.

Ordered one of these 8bitdo brick bluetooth dongles. I really like the Switch Pro Controller on PC and the cable you get with it sucks. Too sturdy. Makes it hard to store it properly.

There is a trailer for the first expansion of Gwent, with vampires.

How is Gwent going? I mean, probably better than Artifact since one of the Artifact streamers I followed went back to it but I never hear much talk about it. Also don't really have any interest of starting it because as a standalone game it is too dry for me.

New Team Sonic Racing trailer showcased customizations in the form of the vehicles' looks from its colours, changing parts and even vinyls!
You can make your vehicle have golden parts too, and you can also customize the horn sound.

Really psyched for this game X3

Looks much better than the initial footage from back when it got announced, I guess the delay has paid off, I'm looking forward to it now.

Developers have been listening to player feedback since the big remake last November: the game has been made smoother and faster, it seems to be heading in the right direction. It now feels closer to what I liked of the game during open beta, with shenanigans around the pass system and card advantage between rounds.

There is a tournament this weekend:

That being said, I feel a bit burnt with the game; it is a card game after all.

Steam has only Valve games now? Nooo....
I think he meant exclusive games. Which is bs anyway, nobody really complained when they had Fortnite and Unreal and Paragon and such on their own launcher and nobody complains Blizzard has World of Warcraft and Overwatch on their own launcher. It's different when they're not even funding game development but just taking games already funded, already mostly finished, sometimes with the help of the community as in crowd funded games, and just giving them a bag of money to make them exclusive after the fact with essentially zero risk as they choose the games that can give them the mindshare required to make the investment worthwhile (as I'm sure they aren't making profit on sales yet).

Anyway this was bound to happen since Steam made digital distribution so widely accepted paving the way for Origin and Epic as well so it's something that was inevitable really, it just sucks as said before that they're going about it all wrong. The client sucks, their features suck, they don't support resellers and retailers and behave like most arrogant bastards and backpedal every other day about something, usually also towards worse than initially claimed.

I don't think there would be all this resistance if they basically had every core feature Steam does and the only difference was that there was no overlap of first party games with Steam and otherwise everything was fair game as the given developer and publisher wanted, including resellers.

I'm sure they'll eventually backpedal on things like sales and 1 game a month and stuff too. I mean how is 1 game a month even pro-dev, if they exclude all the others as if they're lesser or if they do accept a few more at the same time but then re-arrange the launch window even if the game's done to maintain the flow they want like they're Nintendo setting release dates for their own games.

no, i believe he's talking about their ultimate goal

steam will ONLY have volvo games left
origin ONLY ea games
bnet ONLY blizzard/activision games (well, that one's already true)

and egs offering ALL the other games from devs and publishers

you know - competition

If he wants to have all the games he'll need to release a hell of a lot more than 1 a month :p
i believe Sergey said their goal is to release 1 game per day (which still only makes it 30 per month ... while Tizoc's threads usually have around 200-300 games listed EACH MONTH ... and those are only the interesting and noteworthy games, not everything)

I don’t usually ask hardware questions, but does anyone know of a replacement for an XPS 18?

I just can’t find anything that does what the 18 does. It has a massive screen (18 inch) and can be completely free standing (no keyboard attachment/hinge or mount).

Everything on the touch screen market seems to be either A) free standing, but with a <14 inch screen; B) huge screen but attached to some kind of mount.

Any suggestions?

great to see it doing good .. lets hope the EA phase wont take too long

I'm really interested in getting this one but I have zero experience with those kind of games. How complex is it?

Don't see anything at 18" but there's plenty at around 15, like even Microsoft's own Surface Book stuff. Most have detachable keyboards and I'm pretty sure that in most they're purely optional rather than have more powerful specs or whatever when attached. My local price comparison site lets me search for tablets at various sizes including an over 11" parameter which is how I came up with these so see if there's a site doing that for you. They're all too expensive for me tho.

Edit: ok so not quite plenty, mostly Microsoft and HP have these. Both have some called "<brand> Book" among other naming schemes.

I AM #HYPE
Me too, but how come the ESRB never lists the PC version? It was announced for Windows right? Are they just not submitting that version to ESRB maybe? Or is it gonna be delayed? o_O

========

Edit: Also concerned about:

Since they did release English PR, but ever since then... Everything has been Chinese. Steam page and trailers. Which is fine, it's a Chinese developed game, but I wish they'd clarify on whether English release is also coming or not.

Platforms: Windows, PS4, Switch.
