Multiplayer RTS force you to follow exact build orders and have an APM of a 15 year old to have a chance.
I’m sure this can be fixed by going to the... check notes... co-op thread and organizing some 4 players mayhem. We are ElderCouncil after all, APM are but a memory for most of us.

I concur.
I have always thought that the majority of multiplayer have really short gameplay loops and just loops them indefinitely.
Multiplayer FPS are mostly short rounds were you just shoot everything and respawn.

Give me singleplayer games where you can take your time and do what you want! 😀
play world of tanks, you can wait in bushes as a TD, drive veeeery slowly as a heavy, or look at the map the whole time as an arty.

The fact that they call it a loop is pretty telling. Most MP games are a skinner box and they usually apply the definition of gameplay loop quite litterally.

I personally dislike that term, it doesn't really convey the complexity of things and lends itself too well to games that are exploitative of the player's attention. I prefer systems-heavy games that don't try to dictate the outcome of everything but instead embrace complexity and let their world breathe. It's a little hard to convey, but "gameplay loops" are usually quite heavy-handed and you can see behind the curtain quite quickly.

I'm getting more and more gamer! I bought a mouse! Been thinking about it for awhile but the prices are crazy but now it was on sale. A razer mouse with RGB for 39€ was just right.:)

Can finally play hack and slash games again.
Have you been gamepad only this whole time?

Besides playing Arkham Knight I've also been revisiting FFXII to do all the hunts. It's not something I thought I'd do a second time after having done a 100% run on the PS2 version but turbo mode makes things much quicker. I love this game, wish we'd seen more of these characters but of course only X and XIII got to have sequels. If I can finish both these things before CS3 is out I'll be pretty happy, these 3 months were great for working on my backlog.

They are listed in that accomplishments page - I forget the specific name, but it tracks everything by region and game mode down to specific strikes, world chests, etc
Apex usability. Very Destiny 2.

Gears 2-3 / Judgement PC when ? :so-good-blob:
It's surprising (and depressing) that Microsoft has not ported those to PC. How expensive can barebone ports be ?
They should have done so as early as 2016 when the Windows Store was positioned as the go-to place for Microsoft games.

At this point I'm better served waiting for 360 emulation to catch up. Last time I looked, Gears 2 was showing great promises for example.
One of the few huge IP Microsoft got last gen. Their IP management is pathetic.

Well, it's probable that the IP is long past its prime. But we are also talking about a series that don't have every episodes on PC, and a publisher that is fighting with itself. As long as they price their PC games as much as their console version, they will have a rough time.
I'm not advocating for bargain bin pricing, but 60-70 euros is a though sell. And that's without talking about the fact that their new golden cow, GamePass, is surely cannibalizing full priced sales.

Gears 5 not only had (and still has, I think) a crazy high price tag, but it's also readily available on Gamepass, so why would people buy it fullprice? I'd honestly be surprised if it sold well on PC thanks to that.

How many fps were the Gears on 360 ? 30 or 60 ? Just watched some xenia video of 3 and it's all over the place from 55 to 18 fps.

30, but I'm not sure about Judgment. Probably 30 too since it was a glorified Horde mode made campaign. 60fps GOW started with GOW4.

I'll hijack the thread since I have not seen a recommendations one. Maybe we should make it.

I've been enjoying casual/easy platforming games the last couple of days. Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, Half-Genie Hero. But I'm not finding many more platforming games like those. It's all metroidvanias or pixel perfect platform games like Celeste. I'm sort of an outlier since I don't enjoy Metroidvanias (f* backtracking in any and all games) or hardcore stuff in my platformers very much. I just barely tolerate the light metroidvania elements in Shantae games. So, anything I could have been missing?

Really nice Puzzle Platformer, and pretty short! Well worth the asking price. If I were to have gripes with it, it'd be that there is not variety in the music, so consider playing your prefered playlist while playing it. A co-op mode would be nice to have too but as is, it's a nice short puzzle platformer that one could play at their own pace.

And we've missed having you join us! :cat-heart-blob:

But please don't ever push yourself into joining an event if you're not feeling up to it. Those events aren't going anywhere nor am I or the rest of co-op crew. So if you still want to focus on beating that insomnia then make sure to take all of the time you need. :blobhug:

POE is lit !
Absolutely obtuse, ridiculously rich, easy to break a character. I can't 100% get behind it.

But it is lit. It has been a very long time since I wasn't into a HnS like that. Maybe D2.

No need, I believe it's only cosmetics and inventory tabs, that while surely super handy for veterans, aren't that needed for first timers.

On another note, how does the foam of these VR headset handle sweat, torrents of sweat ?
Should I let it dry gently ?
I may or may not have tried Superhot VR.

Conclusion
1/ I really have to put a limit to my VR sessions
2/ I don't like Superhot, and especially the lack of checkpoint during some though sections
3/ I should work out more

I'm also very worried that I can't aim for shit.

Hmh maybe it's time to give Path of Exile a try now that I have a mouse. But I miss Diablo 3. hmmmmmh,.

Yooooo, I had forgotten just how nice it feels to use a mouse! Haven't used one since 2017!
Was it your choice to not to have a mouse. I wouldn't be able to live without a mouse. For me the mouse pad on laptops isn't efficient for work

Something that I would like, would be a combination of block building with management.

So if DQB also had a system where I can manage my residents and have them make stuff that I can then sell to other towns and stuff like that.

Going out and hunting for material is not that bad. Coming up with designs can be a bit challenging at times but when those two come together that's pretty great, but I just wish that the two come together more and that there was a good reason to do stuff (I need motivation).

In a lot of management games you typically don't really design stuff and more or less just place and object and that's about it. I find it more satisfying to build the stuff.

Any ideas about a game that has stuff like this? The frontier games sort of have some if this but they are not perfect.

I do like the trackpad on macbooks, they are pretty much the best of any laptop. Also since I've pretty much not even had a desk for two years it didn't make sense to just have more stuff to carry around.

POE is free after all, so I am little scared of it's monetazitation.
If you are a hoarder like me, get ready to shell out some cash for stash tabs, if not, there´s not a single thing in the game that's necessary to spend money on.

I don't think you can play the very late game content without more tab space TBH. That said, investing $5 or $10 (or even less with the constant offers) in an extremely good F2P game is not bad at all

man, Eco is getting so dope.

Played it with my buddy (who has gone dark almost 9 months ago now :/ ) over a year ago and it changed so much.
The thing is, you can't really play it solo and you need a server if you want a challenge
  • the asteroid is coming real-time and if you logged out on your offline game, the asteroid will stop
  • you either need to specialize your skills on a server, or you make the skill points so low that you can create your industry all on your own, which makes some part of the game ridiculously easy because you get the skill points so fast.

I never found a good starting point to join a server who is new AND active.

In PoE everyone is a hoarder at the beginning. You get your first ring with 40 life and 2 resists and think it's the best ring ever, etc. Once you are more familiar with the game, you can be more discerning about what to keep. Most of the room in endgame will be taken up by small currency types, and even to experienced players it is one of the worst aspects of the game that needs several QoL updates. Not just the amount of small stuff, or items introduced by new leagues, but the stash management needs some work. (Why we still have id and portal scrolls in 2020)

If you are going to play for an extended period of time, say beyond casually trying out half the story once, I think the single best (and only purchase) you should make is: Get the First Blood starter pack for $20, it gives you a visual weapon effect and 200 points to spend. Then wait for a Stash Tab sale (they happen every few weeks) and use those points to buy the Currency Stash Tab + either a Regular Stash Tab Bundle (includes 6 regular tabs) + 1 Premium Stash Tab, or just a Premium Stash Tab Bundle (which includes 6 premium tabs. With a premium tab you can change its name and color, and make it public so you can easily sell stuff to other players).

From this point on, everything is optional or convenience only and up to each of us. Obviously the more and more you play, the more in need of stash space you might feel, but consider that everyone starts fresh in new leagues every few months, and you don't lose anything once the current league ends, it just gets moved to Standard mode and kept in a "Remove Only" tab until you take everything out, so it's never like you need more and more space the more you play. Once you get a few utility tabs, you basically have all the room you need for every new league.

Finished The First Tree today. Very charming and amazing looking walking simulator! Very recommended!
How open/explor-ey is that game? I want it to be like Proteus or something. But I kicked it off my wishlist for probably being too story driven and maybe a little weepy, and was never quite sure if that was true.

Ok Rimworld update...

Even though I had played it for about 70 hrs previously I never really progressed very far down the tech tree because my colony would either get wiped out by an angry squirrel or because of my habitual need to keep re-starting these types of games to try and get the 'perfect' set up.

Anyhoo ive made some real progress on my latest base and have unlocked some pretty cool shit from the research bench...

Transport pods, Deep drilling stuff, bionic implants, communication station, Flat screen TVs!

This game is ace and has its hook in me deep.
