Underlords is pretty much dead apparently. One of the main guys behind it Adrian Finol seems to have left the project last year (still works at Valve though) and there hasn't been anything since.

Underlords just had its 1 year anniversary (after the season pass came out) and still not a bleep from Valve since November. I still played it often, but it hasn't had significant content since about September last year. But they don't even grace us with a "it's dead" post like Artifact.

Worse part is that it still had a good playerbase towards the end of last year, between 10-20k, that's current Fall Guys numbers, and they just stopped bothering to update it at all. You can still find games, but I reckon it will look exactly like Artifact in a couple months.

I don't know if anyone here was super into the Super Meat Boy soundtrack, but Danny B is doing a one time vinyl pressing of it via bandcamp's crowd funded vinyl pledge

Another VR game
Tyler has done some reporting on Citadel recently and if I remember correctly he's said it will be both VR and regular gameplay. Hes also saying he's heard it might be a Smash Bros of Valve IP, talking about using both Half Life (and maybe eventually with updates) TF2 at least. It will be interesting to see exactly what it is.

I think this is missing the wide spectum of extreme emotions, ranging from This is so damn cool, this is the future! to Holy shit I hate that game, WHY?

I actually just got one, evading AA fire on Caliope on the dark side, weaving between mountains through a storm just in time to find a blind spot... and bap a rock lightly enough to trigger the complete annihilation of my ship. Still, I returned and things were cool again. Land, only to notice that oh crap, yes indeed it's -151°C and I have 15 minutes to get to that damn bunker or die. Ensue hiking in near-darkness which was the most atmospheric thing ever.

Then, proceed to do the regular murder-a-thon once there... Only to be suddenly knocked flat on my arse, and then remember in that split second as the NPC walks up to me with his shotgun to finish the job Right. Force reactions. The best bit was, I could still aim and could have survived it if I hadn't been completely confused.
Can't say that I'm mad, but this is definitively both awesome and rage-inducing.

Edit : because I'm a maniac that likes to take screenshots.

Does anyone know where I can find a collection of the Sony "memes" you know the ones where Sony has their characters reenacting other popular memes? Like The Office (US) memes? I'm curious as to how many they have and which series they do it for

speaking of games starting with A that are close to being dead:

The only thing I could see is there are plans to offer some sort of free trial or something upcoming that they want to arbitrarily slow progression down, otherwise, why the heck would they make this change.

I double dipped on this out of excitement....:jj_idgas:
Definitely give impressions! It looks really snazzy.

This game is 28% more expensive here than the base price of US$. I guess they're reinventing the meaning of regional pricing.
I really thought after Valve put the kibosh on using VPNs that publishers and developers would at least attempt to offer fair regional pricing again. I cannot understand what they think will be the end game here? Just cater to a smaller and smaller audience who can afford your title? What about the next title, or the one after that?

I can comment to say that at this point I actually don't know any official release date ;)

I do know that it won't release in March since we can't fix all the stuff PC QA found in that timeframe.
Well now that the Steam page shows April 9, it seems they are not giving you a ton more time 😬 Hope they aren't killing you with deadlines. I know how that can feel.

Excited to get to play it, though I'd prefer it be ready and take longer if needed.

Downunder.
To put it in perspective, CS IV was originally released in September 2018 for PS4 in Japan, so a little over two years for the western release. That's a really quick turnaround considering the size of the script.

However, I've heard that some fans aren't happy about the overall localisation quality, so there's that.

Yeah I don't get it either. There are literally thousands of games on Steam, if you're game is not affordable, people will just spend their money on other games instead. And the number will only keep growing over time.

VPN was always just an excuse, really it's just greediness.

Also Valve did say that Alyx reinvigorated their will to make SP games again so cutting development for dead projects makes sense.

It's a shame about Artifact. A digital card game where you can sell, trade, and buy directly from other players is in my opinion far better than what's out there now.

Hell, I had a better experience playing a card game online in the early 2000s than what is out there now (officially). This was a community-created software that just let you import any card in existence, IP connect to another player, and play much in the same way you would in-person.

I think Artifact was doomed to fail as the DOTA player base is not receptive to both a digital card game on top of not being a F2P. A DOTA MMORPG, instead, would have made a lot of sense (and would be crazy profitable).

Real bummer they've cancelled it. I was really looking forward to playing 2.0.

Unlike Anthem or Avengers, Artifact was actually a good game and fun to play.

Nah we always expected an April release. It's a bit more tight than some previous releases we had, but it should be enough time. At the very worst we'll have to keep some of the minor issues (i.e. some Z fighting here or there, or minor animation anomalies in a particular cutscene at >>60 FPS, to give you an idea) to post-launch patches.

It's sad with the shitty regional pricing, but unless the game is a must-have for me (like Warhammer 3) I can wait a long time for a deep sale. I just use my time and money on some of the other thousands games on Steam and my neverending backlog.

I'm back to SWTOR, and now with a new Jedi Guardian character which story I haven't finished yet. While most of the textures look rough, the game is surprisingly holding up well visually, mostly thanks to the superb artstyle and lighting. They have this rtx like effects which basically reflect the light source and its color to its surrounding. Looks great in darker areas like space ships and caves. Sometimes I need to remind myself that this is a game that came out in 2011.

Coming back to SWTOR also made me realize how massive the game is, not only from content but also polish and its AAA-ness. Virtually every quest from main to side ones are voiced and directed in cutscenes. Some of the side quests are even tied to the storyline and will give you important decisions to make, like deciding what to do with an NPC (kill or help him). These little things help the role playing element a lot. And this is a MMORPG for Pete's sake. Most modern single player RPGs aren't even close to this in term of narrative depths.

And lastly, controller! It really feels like a brand new game playing it with a controller, thanks to the community configs.

For anyone in the mood for some jRPG retrospectives

Are you ripping your PSX discs? Perhaps consider using DiscImageCreator. It's one of the most accurate ripper out there.
Nah I have them ripped already it's just that I had removed my dvd drive from my lappy, replacing it with an extra fan. However for some odd reason Win10 doesn't recognize images that aren't .ISO @3@

Basically I needed a more modern image reading software.

it was always going to work about as much as trickle down economics do ... VPN was just an excuse (just like piracy is) ... i 100% guarantee you that even if there were no exploits ever - those regional prices would look the exact same as they do right now

I cannot understand what they think will be the end game here? Just cater to a smaller and smaller audience who can afford your title? What about the next title, or the one after that?
it's capitalism - corporations never plan that far ahead ... immediate profit matters above all else (see: climate change)

VPN was always just an excuse, really it's just greediness.
yeah, this
