So apparenty a big (?) announcement for the gaming community as a whole is coming tommorrow. Not much to go on, I wonder what it is.
From checking on Reddit, Twitter and ERA, here are some alternatives for tommorrow announcement

  • Unreal Engine 5 (Fortnite or some other game being showcased with it)
  • Cross-Progression/crossplay stuff
  • Playstation going full in on PC
  • Something related to cloud gaming
For the entire gaming community?

I would love an industry wide CrossBuy system to happen. Like MoviesAnywhere. It might finally be time it happens since everyone is obsessed with MAUs and engagement numbers nowadays. Maybe some opt in thing that wouldn't piss off devs/pubs who do well with double dippers.

I can actually see some type of crossbuy thing happen with Sony/MS since they are now in bed together for cloud gaming. "Play your playstation and xbox games on this phone"...or wtvr stupid slogan advert they would create for it.

I also want to see a universal VR headset compatibility across new consoles and PC. That would help VR industry grow much faster and help VR devs out a lot.

If its UE5 talk that would be very boring but also possible I guess since GDC was cancelled so maybe some of that stuff gonna be showed now with next gen gameplay footage etc.

Don't really see what else it could be. Maybe some new gaming platform enters the market? Maybe free online on consoles moving forward?

As much as I would love this to happen, no way are they gonna remove one of the most profitable features they have. It's literally easy money for them. I wanna know how costly the servers/console digital stores are since we never got a hard number, and consumers are justifying that it's costly because we pay for PS Plus/Xbox Live and Nintendo Online so people think online subscriptions has to contribute to the quality of these services.

Downunder.
Gawd I wish Square would just port this one, but they probably lost the source code.

Modernizing the controls would be nice, also the emulation on some of the effects is not perfect on hw mode. Also it's 30fps, sad.
I booted up the game again on February for its 20th anniversary and played through the intro. Still holds up. Also, I'm pretty sure RetroArch says 60fps. Disable vsync inside retroarch.cfg, maybe?

Man Vagrant Story rules. I haven't played that game in forever, but I should go back. It's a gem.

That translation/localization probably made the game? I suspect its good in Japanese, but not as good as the English script. What a treasure.

My experience with unity has been mixed
Its visual option feature set for the end consumer feels lacking in various games
Also i always worry unity is a system hog at least in the games i had played.
Doesnt help that downsampling via nvidia dsr may not be possible on all unity games.

If Half Life was a JRPG it would it would start a bishonen male and 3 ojisans

Also it seems that people are now harassing the poor Sunkist intern by posting pictures of Sunkist the dog.

You can do a lot with creating your own story line for a pre-existing game it would seem

Admittedly I haven't made any commercial game with Unity (yet ?), but I did use it to make quite a few programs used for research in cognitive neuroscience... because of that, I haven't really had the need to look into how to make a fancy UI to customize the experience (since they always run on the same computers...).

But Unity does come with a default launcher that lets you select a graphics preset (from fast to beautiful, I think... and these could actually represent anything)... in most recent indies, those presets are available from the game itself rather than the ugly-ass launcher. It's up to the developer to expose individual settings rather than those presets.

I'm pretty sure that recently I played a Unity game that did just that, but I can't seem to find it. At first I thought it might have been Ori 2 or Endless Space, but no... Weird.
Eh?
I must be slow. I still don't get it.
Based on how lashman uses it, I read it as some sort of weird mix between a LOL and a D'OH.

It's already been a few years since I did something with Unity but even then it was just a single click to disable the launcher and creating an in-game options menu was trivial.

Starting recently (possibly today), whenever I want to purchase something from Steam Market, Steam wants to know my billing address.

Yes, that change was added in the code not so long ago and it's being made to fight scam accounts, prior to this most of us didn't need anything but US citizens who after spending certain amount of cash on the market they would be asked with something similar.

Okay, so it is not just me. :relieved-face: For a second, I thought that I might have to pay taxes whenever I sell an anime background. I would be okay with paying taxes with Steam Wallet for Steam Wallet earnings, but not paying taxes with IRL money for Steam Wallet earnings.

I guess that confirms it, Horizon sequel on PS5.
I have been saying this morning that If I'm not mistaken that horizon gif is very similar to the rocky beach scene used in Unreal Engine for photogrammetry, so yeah, it's engine.

So they say. But I still gotta finish Heavensward (think I left off somewhere near the end, not sure) and Stormblood, and I'm no story skipper!

Also I'll probably spend like hours and hours trying to relearn DRG rotation or deciding if I wanna switch my main class. I used to be a DRG god, but a big reason I quit FFXIV the second time is because after I quit the first time I felt like I could never be quite as good as I once was. Like the muscle memory of my combo's just never came back. :(

There are new "Ultimate Edition" bundles for Gal*Gun: Double Peace and Gal*Gun 2 on Steam, that include each game + all DLCs (except that "joke", expensive, 'Pheromone Z' Item for Double Peace), for a much more affordable price than the whole thing usually costs.

I'm almost embarrassed to say that, since I'm kind of collecting everything INTI CREATES releases on Steam, I ended up adding to my collection 40+ pieces of such vital DLCs like bunny costumes, and bikinis. 😊
Or VR DLC (I don't own VR hardware).

Don't judge me too poorly. 🤣

Now, if Koei Tecmo started doing this for their older titles, they would start getting some money from me again.

I'm really intrigued by mechanical keyboards. Then again I don't really notice it when it's me, but I can't stand the click click sound when someone use a keyboard when I'm doing something else.
So mechanical keyboards are a huge gamble.

Edit - To be precise, I can't stand the sound when I'm reading something, as I have reading OCD and there is no better way to get me out of my reading than some keyboard click. I'm not an asshole. I, uh, I think :sweaty-blob:

I was reminded about Dragon Quest 11 and how I still don't have played it. Torn about it, usually I would 100% go the expanded version, but there is no denying that, even for someone pretty forgiving about graphics as myself, the Switch version looks like shit on a TV.

There's definitely a clicky sound to it, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be (Cherry MX Red switches), reminds me a bit of old keyboards, or, well, a bit quieter than old keyboards, but definitely louder than my previous keyboard (membrane keyboard with small keys, they were just a bit taller than laptop's keys).

For me the best thing about this new keyboard though is that there's seemingly no limit to how many keys can be pressed at the same time (or at least I don't have enough fingers to reach its limit).
Trying to press 2 keys per finger in this test, all of them were detected:

Maybe it finally makes it a decent if low budget effort that doesn’t mar the legacy but is a nice update (mostly cos the original is just that outdated even compared to its direct sequel) even if not as grand as one would hope for or expect from the series. We’ll see when it gets on PC I guess.

Sniper Elite 4 is pretty fun, but has some rough gameplay or something. I don't know what it is. Game feels like it plays at sub 60 fps, but Nvidia fps overlay says it's at about 140-150 fps. Odd.
