Epic is trying to get Nitendo on PC

... so this is current state, that Sony is considering this? I've been a fan of Playstation for quite a while, and I love their exclusives. I usually had no problem buying them day one full price. I've been so excited to replay them on PC. But if they participate in this, I have absolutely zero problem walking away from them this gen. This on top of the anti-consumer cross play crap and so on... there are so many other things to spend my time and money on. I get that I'm in a super minority, so my actions really won't make a difference, and that also sucks. And what sucks even worse is having to admit that I'm saying "Go, Microsoft!". Ugh.

Clearly not as we got already the first wave of releases and they were multistore.

Its probably for different requested games so they can still do it.

I wouldn't be surprised if its for PS5 releases like Demon Souls and Returnal. Sony would easily take 35-40million a pop and put them on Steam a year later.

I just don't see Epic wanting to pay so much money for old PS4 games from 4+ years ago.

Wow. The Mortal Shell devs must have been in a bad place, because 1.5 for a Soulslike seems kind of ridiculous.

and paid back in a week. Imagine the amount of money they lost on Steam pre-orders alone.

I think "awaiting feedback" means that Sony isn't even replying to their offers?

Sony is so money hungry right now it wouldn't surprise me if they did it. Especially if Days Gone doesn't perform that well on Steam I could see them going with Epic. They are probably bringing in very little from both DS and Returnal with the ridiculous 70$ prices. Getting 200 million from Epic would be huge for them.

And as much as Sweeney likes to flush money down the toilet...I don't think he will do 40 million for an old PS4 game just to keep them away from Steam for a year. Seems way too expensive. They went after Godfall so if that is indication of anything I would guess Epic wants PS5 titles.

Some of the prices seem waaaay to low both for the exclusives and the free games.

I don't want to say they are the same but I have a personal story regarding something like that, I can't share much details but basically when I started working I was working for a company that in theory did that for musicians and other creators, help the little guy and all that, but with some time I (and others) started to realize yes, we were helping them with money but the company was giving the bare minimum like enought to keep them afloat but not too much so that they could be truly independent and operate on their own. It also didn't help that a ton of the smaller creators didn't know much about finances and just accepted the first offer without much thinking.

It definetly was a line between helping and taking advantage of other people that I didn't feel comfortable with and I can't help but recall that when I see some of these numbers.

It's the 13th most wishlisted game (at the time of posting). I think It'll do just fine.

PlayStation just had its best year ever by every conceivable metric. Not sure where you get the impression that they're desperate for money.

"Offer extended" implies that Sony replied in the past (and refused). So Tim increased his bid, and is now waiting for Sony's reply to the new offer.
Don't think so, not necessarily. Sony could have outright ghosted them with Epic spamming them with more offers.

The documents dates back to September 2020. Days Gone is not EGS exclusive so it's fair to assume they have turned down that offer, for now at least.

I could see Sony taking the money for risky titles but if Sony only wants to port blockbuster AAA titles to PC then Epic's offer is insufficient.

Honestly, 200m is a very lowball offer for 4-6 Sony titles. We know GoW, TloU, etc. are coming.

Given the slides seems to be from late (September?) 2020, my guess is:
-Epic and Sony initially made a deal for some small games (think Predator or the other mp game)..
-Sony decided to publish Horizon and refused the first exclusivity contract with Epic. Horizon did some numbers.
-Sony decided to continue the move to PC. Epic decided to up the money offered.
-Sony said no and launches Days Gone on both. They plan to launch 4-6 games in total up to mid 2022 (I assume 1 game per Q)

After Days Gone comes to Steam and Epic, it would be very off for other similar games not to come to both Steam and EGS.
