And it still isn't Gravity Rush. :(

Last week Sony said they still had a lot of learning to do on PC and their release scheduling kind of reinforces that idea.

They have 2 PS5 games that could do extremely well on PC. GT7 and Demon Souls. Now I know racing sims can be a cut throat market and people tend to stay with what they prefer. However I could see GT7 selling really well on a curiosity level at the very least.

But Demon Souls, I can only assume there is a technical/resourcing issue with that one. From Soft (or in this case From Soft adjacent) games sell well on the PC. I am not sure how true this is, but I thought I read somewhere that PC is there most succesful market for souls games. It just doesn't make sense that this hasn't been ported/released yet.

OK there is 3, but everytime somebody mentions Bloodbourne the clock resets

TLOU 2 PC when. I'd rather play this one on PC.
They will probably time it up with the release of season 2 of the show. So early next year.

It will do well as that show is very popular. It will sell millions on PC.

I bet Microsoft is scrambling around to release some type of Fallout game with season 2 of that show in the future. But it will take too long to make Fallout 5 so they will probably do some remake for Fallout 3 or New Vegas.

Crazy how these 2 shows are the most popular shows on TV in recent years and both are video game properties. Microsoft and Sony aren't able to truly capitalize on them as well because AAA dev time is absurd.

A tale as old as time
"Valve shouldn't decide which indie games get on Steam. Players should decide if they want my game on Steam or not" -> Valve comes up with Greenlight
"Actually, players are getting exploited and are causing too many games that aren't mine to release on Steam. I should be able to get on the store on my own" -> Greenlight is gone, everyone can get on Steam
"There are too many games on Steam and it's hard for my game to be seen" -> Valve adds new discoverability tools
"Discoverability is useless. Too many games who aren't mine are getting discovered. Why are japanese indies and porn games selling so much? Who cares if they're good and players like them Valve should put my games on the pedestal" -> Players tell this dev to go find greener pastures. Valve continues to do their own thing
"Really? Then I'll get a fat wad from console maker/Epic and you Steam crybabies will never get my game. Enjoy endless articles from my journalist friends about how you and Valve are evil!" -> Steam users simply play other games. Valve continues to do their own thing without a care in the world
"What do you mean my game isn't selling well and the checks are no longer coming? Steam's success isn't legal! Save me Big Brother!" -> Steam users still play multiple GOTY candidate every year. Valve continues to make money doing their own thing
"It's over. The game industry is dying. Please you must buy my game instead of what you're currently buying or there will be no one else to make games in the future" <- WE ARE HERE
It's a harsh world, but maybe if an indie game fails there are reasons other than discoverability. Even if you spend millions on your game there is no reason players may care, AAA or Indie it doesn't matter. Maybe people now prefer games that run well instead of graphics? Or maybe they prefer a different artstyle than low res pixel art? Maybe everyone should be budget conscious instead of spending too much?

Now let's look at someone who is doing things right:

Persona 3 Reload may end up selling more than FFVII Rebirth when the year is over. Think about that. Maybe this case also shows what players preferences are?
Those numbers are just crazy for Persona.
There's obviously leftover sales from Persona 5 (especially on Steam I assume), but a Persona remake outselling Final Fantasy 7? Things have changed a lot... I wonder how SMT5V and Metaphor will do, they are less "weeb" focused in the sense that they are not about high schoolers, but they can also hit a wider range since dark fantasy has broad appeal beyond the anime fans, too.

P3R shipped 1 million copies in a week and there hasn't been a peep from Sega and Atlus outside of that. Just looking at the Steam charts, it doesn't look super leggy. The worst case scenario for FF7 Rebirth was ~2 million and that doesn't include back catalogue sales. FF is likely the bigger franchise for now.

However if Persona 6 releases on Steam and Switch 2 day one (and it probably will) then yeah Persona will wind up being bigger than FF assuming SE doesn't get their heads out of their butt (and they probably won't).

I'm sure that this itself is a tale as old as time. And it goes back to what people on Era I think we're saying about when Gabe leaves.

Let's enjoy our time now.

Steam does have issues but it also feels like it's not constantly added more issues on top of more issues as far as user experience goes. Such as raising the price of services for end users. But you do have situations where stuff does get dropped sadly like with Argentina and Turkey. Are those regions even available on consoles? I know that for Switch Argentina is included and supposedly even to this day people abuse that.

My original plan was to buy a new pc three years ago but between the gpu prices and my ignorance I ended up thinking "I can wait another year", well three years passed and I kept saving to the point where I would say money is not a problem but I still don't know what to buy :face-with-tears-of-joy:
You may find this site useful for a list of PC builds that start from dirt cheap to very expensive. You can use it as a reference.

why the fuck doesn't a country like Estonia have PSN support anyways
They can legally buy consoles but have no digital store.
Probably because expanding PSN is a mess. Which is funny when you consider that even nintendo has been capable of remaking their store services (there's a video out there with them explaining how they did it).

So I am really not accustomed to using a controller on PC it seems as I bought a 8bitdo Pro 2 (great controller) the thing is, the buttons on right side are laid out like the switch (with A being right and B on bottom) + the fact I am used to using PS icons and O being accept anyways....

But everything I play B is accept and A is cancel, it triggers me like DS1 on the switch with B being accept. How do I fix this?

Some games even the X & Y are swapped.
this has been my superconfusing endeaword last few months
as i kinda completely stopped playing on PC games for a few months and went into massive rabbithole of collecting gamepads :lampblob: as well as another massive rabithole of emulation and emualtion handhelds :illuminatiblob:

and the constant battle with the control schemes has been completely ruining my gamepad-fu :astonished-face:

and its not just the Nintendo layoud vs Sony layout vs Xbox layout
..... what the hell was Nintendo thinking with Wii :fireblob:
and why the hell each of the layouts has X in different place :dizzy-face:

GoT got same restrictions as Helldivers on Steam

Well done Sony.

How hard is it to just grey out the multiplayer mode in the menu and let people know its not available in their region. They could even put an alert on the steam purchase page for people in those countries.

Why take the singleplayer game away from so many over a stupid optional PSN thing....

How is Sony struggling so much with this? Wtf are they doing?

Customers need to realize how much power they have. Let Ghost of Tsushima bomb on PC and send Sony a clear message. You'll see how quickly they'll change their way
And don't worry. Sony needs extra PC sales much more compared to how PC users need Sony games. They won't stop further ports just because Tsushima bombs

Well done Sony.
How in the hell is PSN still not available in so many countries after almost two decades?

I can only assume those countries represent such a tiny fraction of overall sales that Sony don't give a shit but still. There has to be some kind of barrier I'm not aware of, surely?

not available in so many countries
Some of those are not even countries:

"Guadeloupe", "Réunion", etc, are French departments.

Ok, they're physically overseas, but administratively, they are fully part of France.

I understand having exceptions against shipping of physical packages there but, financially, if you can do business in France, then you can do business there.

Crazy how events played out. But it does look like Sony has made their stance clear.

If you purchased Helldivers 2 you will still be allowed to play the game.

This does suck for future stuff since if a game relies on anything PSN related then it will be region locked in places.

I wonder if some compromise can be made. So the PSN thing had 2 issues associated with it, one of those issues was resolved but sadly also caused issues. I guess they came to that conclusion in order to net get into any legal trouble later for people.

Would it be better for them to use accepting PSN and letting people from other regions being able to play? But then again at anytime Sony can just ban those people as punishment for breaking ToS.

SteamOS provided Microsoft with a template to make Xbox a Windows PC without sacrificing the console experience to a significant degree. I am very curious to see what the next Xbox will be.
I'm not at all confident in Microsoft's ability to create a good software experience for this. Personally I've moved on to Linux on my desktop, and of course the Deck with SteamOS. A Windows, Xbox, or hybrid of the two device does not interest me.

Especially after recent news. I think reality finally hit Microsoft that Game Pass isn't going to be the thing for them, and that's making them reconsider all their gaming investments.

I'm gonna give Lightning Returns another chance lol.
I tried on my PC a few years ago but between the atrocious performance, my hatred for the time mechanic and the god awful story I dropped it quickly.
Now with the Deck I might find the time and mood to give it a chance.
I really liked XIII-2, so I always felt this desire to complete the trilogy.
Lightning is such a downgrade from Serah though 😔
