It's weird that I have never played a Sonic game even though I got a few of them on steam. I heard Sonic Mania is a good starting point. Maybe I will get it in upcoming sale.

Is the Bluetooth Xbox receiver worth the price or not ? I already have a BT receiver but if it's better I'm not opposed.
Then I have to add the battery pack... when did buying a controller felt like buying ink for a printer ? Same highway robbery feel.
The official xbox dongle isn't BT at all but rather a proprietary Microsoft thing. The old, huge one is the one I have and have never had an issue. Dunno about the newer smaller ones. They seem to be kind of hard to get these days for some reason, I only ever see them bundled up with a controller, never on their own.

But the newer controllers do work with BT, so if you have the option to buy the controller and the MS dongle separately, you could try the controller with your current BT dongle and see if it works well enough.

Speaking of controllers, still waiting on MS to start sending out those series x controllers. I've gotten a few emails from paypal about how I have indeed authorized the payment of the controller, couple emails already, but no charge yet. Take my money and gib controller plz.

That reminds me that I haven't finished Daemon X Machina yet.

I somehow got bored of it midway, as the gameplay loop is becoming very repetitive and the story isn't interesting at all.

It's the same update they released on switch, for that matter it isn't on sale on the EU or NA eshop, if a sale happens I guess it'd be during steam update hours

How much does it cost now? Wasn't it like $10USD for season 1? Or is it way more grindey now?
It is still 10 bucks but the grinding will be insane, I completed season 4 and 5 with weeks to spare

Anyone who played Atelier Ryza already, I have a question.

I know it starts a new trilogy (right?) so I'm curious, are Atelier worlds always kind of completely separated? That is, there's no story connection or something like that to the Mysterious trilogy?

I'm asking because I'm thinking about skipping Lydie & Suelle game, for two reasons mainly. One, it never goes on sale. And two, I got a taste of the voice actors of the two in Nelke and I don't think I could tolerate a full game with them.

So if I want a Series X pad, my choice is between...
Nude controller - 60 euros
Controller with cable - 60 euros
Controller with wireless receiver - 70 euros
and I have to buy
Play & Charge kit (with cable) - 23 euros

So the pad + cable version is redundant, that one thing. All I have to determine is if I want that non BT receiver. You say that they are reliable, it's a plus.
But man, 93 euros.
Imagine needing two pads :sweaty-blob:

Damn, the US election has been such a long slow shitshow.

And can I just say how insane it is to see Trump supporters chanting "Don't count the vote"? I mean, they are literally chanting to stop democracy. If someone in Norway chanted that people might have called the hospital to put the person in a hospital.

Anyways, Im gonna download Apex now.

Pull the plug, it's over. Not sure what's going to change but not having "President of the USA" next to the name "Donald Trump" is a good thing anyway.

Sonic mania is good, can be too long for some but it is a good amalgamation of the positive elements of the series 2d roots.
The original game as fine as well (1 to 3)
My suggestion for first timers is to just take your time playing and learning the levels, once you are familiar, you can then attempt to speed thru them if you wish. Sonic mania 3 main cast have their own unique quirks; knuckles jump height is lower thanks sonic's but he can climb and glide to access alt. Routes
Tails can also fly for a short period to reach addiotional paths too.

Hades is quite good. Still lamenting not buying it on Switch for portable roguing, but it is what it is.

PC-tan I'm giving Apex a shot but no promises. I have to admit that DRG looks a little more tempting at the moment, but I have always been curious about BR games.

There’s nothing from Suelle, Ryza is its own game, skip away

Alternative to play & charge kit could be rechargeable AA's, though the starting price on that is actually a little steeper. The benefit being that they last a long time, at least eneloops anyway. My oldest ones are from 2013 and they are nearly as good as new. And naturally you can use them on other stuff too.
I have no idea how well the play & charge kits last though, maybe they are good too.

Living that eneloop life. 🔋

Thank you for the advises! Actually I totally forgot the Sega Ages line on switch, so I thought I wouldn't have access to the original games. Looks like I will grab them on switch when it goes on sale then.
I like the battery marks on the baskets

I was obsessed with Sonic in my early teens. I literally played through all 4 mega drive games hundreds of times.
They are fantastic games with some of the absolute best visuals and soundtracks of that era.
I was also a huge Streets of Rage fan. Both Sonic Mania and SoR4 are beautiful love letters to these timeless classics.

Yeah I hope xbox controllers never go with internal batteries. Just having a bunch of rechargeable batteries to swap out with it the way to go.

Right now thought since I only game at my desk I just plug in and plug out the controller and don't use batteries at all.

This makes me want to rave at the dying of the light. I have nothing against change, but not regression. Settings is a bloody tragedy and I fear that the things you could do with the control panel simply won't be possible anymore because if there is one thing MS hates, it is the user having control.

Panel.

Get it?
I'd expect a third party app to take up that interface like they have with the start menu ui. Settings is just deeply flawed in how its organized and how certain things are accessed by comparison to Control Panel. MS needs really think this one through or reverse course

From what I've had to use of Settings, I have to agree with you. Also, it's ugly as hell, and impractical. It's a touch-based design that wastes screen real-estate and insults the entire desktop customer-base and...

I'll just stop :(.

Not a fan of having to swap batteries in my controllers, I'll take internal battery any day.
I have 2 DS4, while I'm using one the other one is charging, never need to think about batteries.

I'll join the chrous on Eneloop. They also really aren't expensive when you think about how many years of use you get out of them.

While I'm at it, I'll also join the chorus in shitting on the "Settings" travesty. Microsoft is seemingly still determined to make their OS increasingly unusable for professionals and enthusiast in their quest to chase a market they'll never have.

DRG?

Also when I play on PC I just play connect to the PC rather than use a wireless controller so I don't have to worry about the battery dying while playing and stuff or having to swap out batteries.

Deep Rock Galactic, a rather neat 4-dwarves co-op mining and insect-clearing game.

I'm really amazed at Apex's sound design and how weapons feel. I remembered TF2 to be good but this is something else.

Having used both Eneloops and IKEA batteries, the Eneloops were night and day better for me. We do have some IKEA batteries still and they're good for a lot of things, but not for game controllers anymore.

Celeste/Deep Rock Galactic/Eastshade/Knights and Bikes on GPPC.

It seems Comanche (Early Access) was also added to GPPC.
