that's correct :)
More or less, but not really.

Gameplay wise, they're pretty similar. It's turn-based strategy where you can see the animations while attacking/defending (optional). But the main difference is the story progression and customization.

Super Robot Wars is like a linear (with some branching paths) visual novel. You follow the main scenario from start to finish, while recruiting robots from various franchises along the way. You can upgrade their stats and equip parts, and that's it. In SD Gundam G, you can choose to follow which Gundam story you want to enjoy. Each story have several missions, usually in normal and hard mode (or higher). The main attraction of SD Gundam is unit acquisition and customization. In missions, you can choose to capture enemy units by defeating their leader or mothership. You can then sell the unit for cash or use them. You can also level up your units and combine them with another one(s) to create a new unit, or just upgrade it to the next tier (like from GM to GM II). You can also find and recruit various pilots as they don't come with their units.

Cool thanks for the explanation. This seems like it'll be in my wheelhouse, even though I only know a handful of those Gundam series. To the wishlist it goes.

MS must be happy. R/outerworlds and other places for Outer Worlds discussion is flooded with PC game pass questioning and answers. Lots of people going that road. Very few mentions of people talking about EGS in regards to Outer Worlds.

But MS needs to be clearer about which games are on PC game pass and how to use it. Many people not realizing they need the Xbox Beta app for it.

Speaking of the xbox beta app, I haven't been able to install the game bar for months. It just gives me an error every time. Then it shows as installed, then I can't uninstall it but it doesn't work either.

I've used Powershell commands to try and remove it, and I think it does, but it also throws me an error, and still shows up in my apps but I can't change any settings, and the Xbox app says it isn't installed anyway. Then I try to install again, it hangs for a bit, then error and back to step 1.

Love this UWP shit.

What exactly is game bar? I use the Xbox (beta) app...
It's an overlay attached to the beta app with a bunch of functionality like gameplay recording, voice chat, performance metrics, etc. The only reason I tried to install it a few months back was because the beta app kept showing a message on top saying it wasn't installed, and I wanted to try it out. From there it has been error after error, although fortunately it doesn't seem to hinder my ability to play games or anything.

It's just a nuisance that apparently has left some irremovable footprint in my OS.

Disco Elysium flew completely under my radar, the game looks really interesting.
It's sometimes difficult for me to assess how well-known an upcoming game is. I've been following No Truce with the Furies Disco Elysium for several years now, but I know CRPGs rarely get mainstream coverage.

I'm glad a lot of people are taking a look at it -- I'm sure in part due to the excellent critic reception.

Sources: The Last of Us 2 Delayed To Spring

lol (no official confirmation yet though).
Confirmed now. And a delay only 4 weeks after the last? Things must be going sideways. Maybe Neil Druckmann finally literally disappeared up his own butt and they gotta finish the game without him.

Plus: Watch Dogs Legion, Rainbow Six Quarantine suffer delay (also Gods and Monsters)

Wow. Microsoft just bought Shroud exclusivity (one of the biggest Twitch streamers). They're crazy.
I am so out of the loop on streaming I have no idea who that is. I even googled and he is from Toronto! I have probably run into him on the subway.

Managed to finish Disco Elysium at 33h just in time before The Outer Worlds launches.

Yup this is my GOTY and I don't think the Outer Worlds or RDR2 can change that but I'd love to be proven wrong.

The world these devs created was just captivating from the get go and the outstanding dialog made every line of text a joy to read. I hope this game does well enough so we can get an even greater sequel.

Steam is not letting me post my Disco Elysium review right now.

Gaben also catching up in terms of user reviews?

I'll post it here for now so I don't lose it:
Disco Elysium is described by many as a spiritual successor of Planescape: Torment (PS:T), and while I can't fully agree with that characterization, it does, overall, live up to that lofty aspiration. Note that PS:T is (and remains) my favourite game of all time by a good margin, so I don't say this lightly.

There are several qualities that both of these games share: excellent writing, multiple ways to resolve quests and situations which often depend on skill checks, and complex well-realized characters with realistic motivations. The majority of the reviews here focus on these aspects, so I won't repeat all their points -- suffice it to say that yes, the writing really is that good.

The low points of the game are comparatively very minor. Once more of the map opens up it gets somewhat repetitive and time-consuming to move around, especially since unlike other actions in-game time doesn't advance while you are moving. I don't think there is a good reason not to have some speedup options or quick travel for those situations. Overall though, the map is still rather small so it's no big issue. Loading times are also a bit longer than they should be for a game like this, but again, it's not a major problem.

So, why don't I agree with associating the game with PS:T too directly? As I said, its writing and characters certainly live up to that, which is very much a rarity in games and invites the comparison. However, at its core, I would say that PS:T is a CRPG with a lot of focus on writing and dialogue, while Disco Elysium is more of a graphic adventure game with some significant RPG systems added to it. Neither of these concepts is objectively "better" than the other, but they still result in substantially different moment-to-moment gaming experience, and I can well imagine people having strong preferences for one or the other.

Be that as it may, in my book both are amazing games and well worth playing.

Anyone know anything about this? Just rolled up on my Steam store page and it looks alright.
Decent 2D platforming horror game. Often on sale for 50-75% off. I'd wait.

Also lol, anyone can make fun of Mavis Becon Teaches Typing but those of us who have put hours into that shit know, its no fucking joke. Plus side is that I don't need a number pad anymore as I've trained myself to type 123456790-& * $ and so forth without having to hunt and peck.

I disliked PS:T, so I guess Disco Elysium is not for me....
