1 month is too long

:loudly-crying-face:

pls Miyazaki no more delays
No idea why they aren't just releasing Bloodborne ports and remasters they are probably sitting on during this period. It's like half a year until Elden Ring drops, and it's basically free money, assuming From gets some kind of cut from the rereleases.

I just discovered that on windows (10+) there's an option called "hardware accelerated gpu scheduling" that's supposedly increases performances in games.
I had it disabled and after reading a thread on death stranding, toggled it on and effectively noticed an improvement in Death Stranding.
Is there any reason to leave it disabled? Do you guys use it??
I keep HAGS disabled because it's still very buggy. A few folks have reported some slight performance improvements in certain games, but ultimately, it's negligible. You'll run into games crahing or certain apps behaving weirdly with it turned on. As for DS, are you seeing fps improvement or better frame-time consistency? Instead of HAGS, I'd recommend you use Specialk's Nvidia reflex option. It's also a godsend in DX11/12 Unity based games.

With the EGS exclusive news, Salt and Sacrifice just went from a day one purchase to 80% off or bundle deal, if it all. This kind of shit really puts me off devs I went out of my way to support earlier (similar to Darkest Dungeon 2) and permanently tarnishes my opinion of them.

Even worse news apparently you need to log in to Epic account to play the games XD
No way to get refund for Tomb Raiders games I got couple of years ago, right? Since they just became unplayable for me :suicide-blob:
I just downloaded Rise myself to see what would happen. It asks to enable EOS if you want to play the Expeditions mode. Also there is a new option to link Steam and Epic accounts. It seems like you can decline using EOS and keep on using Steamworks multiplayer (although I don't have anyone to test this out with). I did not have to do anything with an Epic account when doing single player mode though. I can't verify anything with Shadow though and don't care to waste any more of my bandwidth to find out.

Regardless, it's extremely lame and I'm already upset that this is going to be the future of online PC gaming.

I tried TR2013 and also didn't get any mandatory prompts.

It's probably been mentioned already, but since the developers just posted an update about it, I thought I would bring it up (again?):

Sea Dogs: To Each His Own, the most recent entry in the Sea Dogs series, is getting an expanded and "remastered" release called Sea Dogs: Legendary Edition. This release will include engine updates, improved visuals, and new content (new locations, new quests, new music, and the addition of a new epilogue).

For fans of "janky" RPGs, with a great degree of freedom and a vast amount of content, this series is well worth a look, and this new release promises to solve some of the bugginess and stability problems that were present in the original version of To Each His Own.

I'll test it again but with Death Stranding I saw a noticeable improvement. For example in the safe room it was hanging on 92 FPS and with this method it went to 110-120.
SpecialK afaik doesn't work with death stranding.

edit: no ok it might be that the room I'm in is different somehow because I still have 120 FPS even when disabling HAGS, so it wasn't it!

Also good thing is that Rise of the Tomb raider finally has good AA with DLSS and there is no more shimmering mess. Bad thing is that game performance kinda wen to sh*t, even with DLSS it is stuttering mess and FPS can range from 40 to 100 FPS.

Putting that EGS online shit to (older) games is the worst idea ever. If they really need that piece of garbage, they could just implement an option before launching the game do you want to use that shit or Steamworks.

Even worse, now Tomb Raiders refuse to start if you are offline or block access to Epic's servers.
I just went offline to test it and can confirm it simply hangs. I could tolerate EOS as long as I am not required to link an account, but effectively making the game always online is absurd.

I haven't looked but I guess people will start leaving negative reviews on all games (and tbh shadow deserves it). How long till we get a pcgamer article about the poor devs being review bombed because of this?
I'm leaving negative reviews. Maybe I'll get quoted by one of those rags. :upside-down-face:

Could some games use it because they used Easy Anti-Cheat and now they've integrated that into EOS or something? Or can it be used separately still?

Halo just had a small patch for me and I know that uses Easy Anti-Cheat, I hope that's not also EOS now.

Stéphane Picq (french composer for video games in the 90's : Dune, Lost Eden, Commander Blood, Atlantis...) just created a new piece for the first time since 1998.

If you're wondering why the it's because there's a spiritual successor to Captain Blood in development. Free on Windows and mobile.

1 Month delay for Elden Ring is nothing.

Does anyone complaining want another Lost Izalith

Also if that rumor regarding the BB PC port being finished months ago is true, that would be funny.

I'll second this recommendation. Sea Dogs is a quintessential eurojank RPG that trades polish for ambition. I know a lot of folks will have no patience for janky games and to be honest, even I've come to be like that as I get older, but I do value ambitious game design a whole lot even now.

I kind of wish they were making a new game instead of just remastering an old one but hopefully this will do well enough to make them think about a sequel.

Same. The developers made a choice, I choose to give my money to those that need it more and don't have a moneyhat to fall back on.

Its funny, I was always little hyperbolic about my dislike for EOS being put into old games, but at worst I thought ti would only be about gathering user data but turns out it was much worse. Its been a long time since I said this, but Epic can go and fucking die in a ditch already, forgotten and occasionally pissed on by stray dogs.

I wonder if this will run afoul of Steam's "no NFT" policy. I'm guessing it'll be fine since it appears the game itself doesn't appear to generate NFTs, but instead they're a reward for using another service.

I'll add that the guy that made S&S worked with his ex-wife (at least) since Charlie Murderer, but since they got divorced he's claiming to have always been a one man studio, cancelling her work as art designer/animator
So yeah, I could see him being a jackass going with epic
