After some thought, I think I will buy SRW from Steam using a VPN. I will not be buying the game on my own account but rather I will be making a brand new Steam account for the region that has the game the cheapest (just in case anything goes wrong) and buy it there. This way Bandai will get some money for the game and it will show that there is interest for the game on PC. The issue is how I will be playing it, Will it be possible to enable family share? I have never tried that feature so I don't know all it's limitations.

Maybe I will buy the game and then just play a pirated copy of the game, since I don't know the limitations of Steam and because I don't want to keep logging in and out of Steam I just want to play the game without having to keep changing accounts (similar to how you can on current consoles??)

Not only do I want to play the game but I would also like achievements and cloud saves as well, I think the game also has trading cards? Or maybe I am wrong and it doesn't have any? If so I'm sure I can transfer those between my accounts.
The region lock can't be circumvented by family sharing, so even though you share your library, you will need to use VPN to play the game under the account it was shared with.

Also I didn't manage to create a Singapore-based account last night, it might be just Valve blacklisting my provider though, so ymmv.

Are we sure that there could be reprecussions if we use a vpn to purchase and play SRW? I get the feeling that it might not be that big of a deal but what do I know. I wonder what does Jasec make of this?
Pretty sure you can get banned for it if you somehow bypass it, so if you want to buy the game so bad at least do it on a burner account.

I'm kind of disappointed with Bamco, tbh.
  • PC version of SRW V locked to SEA only.
  • Charging $75 AUD for NNK Remastered, a port of 8-years old PS3 game -- the same fucking price as Code Vein!
  • No preorder for PC version Cyber Sleuth after telling us we can preorder weeks ago.
The coup de grâce would probably be charging us $90 for Tales of Arise! They can go and get stuffed if that's the case. :02police: :02stab:

Ni no Kuni went up for preorder only 2 weeks from release. Digimon will probably follow

Hell of a coincidence, heh. Anyway, let me know what you think of Sunset, it's one of the games on my backlog and I plan to get to it before the end of the year. I'd love to know what I'm getting into beyond the overall consensus that seems to be that the humor is hit or miss but gameplay is fine.
I haven't finished it yet but I'd say I'm more than halfway into the game, or perhaps even close to the end of it! I'd heavily recommend it really. The humor isn't always on point but I found it at least amusing most of the time, and funny at times. The gameplay is super fun. The traversal and combat are very kinetic and the weapon design and variety is something else, it really is a treat to see and experience the weapons in combat! If you're also into it you can customize the mother lovin heck out of your character's looks, without having to pay a single extra cent for what is frankly an obscene amount of cosmetic options. The soundtrack isn't bad either and it goes nicely with the fast paced gameplay.

As you progress into the game and see more of it it becomes pretty clear that this was a passion project for Insomniac. The only thing that I kind of hold against it is that the port quality, while passable, is a little disappointing. You don't get true full screen (which I imagine hurts the performance a little), there isn't a lot of graphical settings and the draw distance isn't that good and is unfortunately non tweakable. I also encountered, shall we say, a not so little number of bugs that required me to restart to the latest checkpoint in order to progress. It is pretty clear that they had no intention of porting it to pc when they were developing it, which is why I'm pretty grateful all in all that we got it on PC eventually as the fun that I'm having with it far outweighs any technical inadequacies it might suffer from. The timing also couldn't have been better as if they had waited more to do it we would've probably never gotten it on pc. At $19.99, it also is priced greatly!

How is Ryse btw? I bought it years ago but I've never even tried it yet!

What a bummer
Guess the high seas are ironically the most hassle free option at the moment then. I still haven't given up on figuring out a workaround for safely circumventing the region lock, but at least other, ahem, "options" exist as a last resort.

Regarding SRW V, I share the disappointment and let me assure you that I hate region restrictions with a passion... but isn't this unfortunately the best we could hope for given the copyright soup the game is in ?
I’m sure Bamco didn’t try, but sorting things with all players worldwide seems highly improbable.

When does Hamble usually reveal more early unlocks for the Monthly?
Or is it safe to say that Battletech will be the only one?

Was it good ? I have to add another game to my LTTP list isn't it ?
It was a light but decent imo pnc game.
Worth playing if u want something light. Also has nice animation. There is also a prequel game made (free) made by the devs too. Ill link it when i find it later

I blame the dog's breakfast of USA copyright laws. Consider the following scenario: say you want to use SUNRISE's properties (Gundam, etc) in Japan, Bamco simply have to negotiate directly with SUNRISE to get permission. Once you goes outside Japan however, all these other parties will start getting involved. Funimation / Crunchy maybe have exclusive distribution rights for the anime in North America, for example. Because SRW V uses the anime cutscenes, all these rights has to be negotiated again. The same with other right holders for the rest of the IPs in SRW. While I was disappointed with this region blocking, I sort of get that it's not trivial to get all the rights holders happy.

This is how much all the indies (I deem worthy of being purchased) released between yesterday and today would cost.

Maybe, just maaaybe, there's a little problem of too many indie games being released at the same time? Or maybe we could blame some algorithm.
Now now, let's not be hasty, you didn't add that coupon.
In fact it wasn't done automatically so it's all lazy Valve's fault

The final survey for Shenmue 3 is available. This happened:

Requests for Steam keys to be distributed one year later when Shenmue III comes to Steam will be accepted through this survey, however, there is the possibility that Steam keys will ultimately not be distributed depending on negotiations with Valve.
This suggests that Valve might ban Shenmue 3 from Steam, following the breach of Steam Distribution agreement.

Hmmm... Possible, but I am not sure about this. It is not about the "day one" Steam keys (which won't happen), but the "year one" Steam keys.
That's the thing, Wok, once they sell the game on Steam, they could generate all the keys needed for the backers as promised, HOWEVER, I think they just realized that they promised 2 keys (100-120€) and said "of fuck, why" this sounds more like a step back from them than a real negotiation at all (in fact, I really doubt there has been much talking between DS, Ysnet and Valve at all, everything sounds like PR talking)

I wonder what kind of demands they’re making if even Valve can’t accept it. I don’t think Valve will boot Shenmue 3 from Steam. Control is still on the store after all. So that leads me to think that YsNet is really trying to bend Valve’s flexibility its limits.

This is what we have been saying for ages, platforms might have room for improvements, that's something TRUE, but real problem with games in general is QUANTITY OF QUALITY CONTENT, it's impossible to keep buying and playing all the content, I'm not a billionare who can spend as much money as I want.

Also, dev number has grown while customers who buys indies doesn't get as close as the necessary demand to sustain everyone. it's sad but true, we have too much content.
I think that EVERY time when someone whines about Steam "killing indie games" or Steam being "flooded with asset flips". But actually arguing with these people would require effort thats most likely not worth it. So many indie devs these days just seem to think their game is more important than any other game in existance, that Steam should promote (only) it and that everyone should buy it, obviously.

Steam deep dive.
Draugen as input. It shows me Sekiro, Wolfenstein Youngblood, etc. as somewhat similar. No, in no way is Draugen somewhat similar to Sekiro. Fucking tags.

EDIT: I tried some other games with better results.
Yeah... everything is an "adventure" these days according to these tags - and of course thats not the only problem with them. For example, "Action" and "Indie" are also vastly too broad of a definition that could apply to way too many dissimilar games.

I'd imagine they're asking to do something stupid like being able to generate the keys now but not being able to activate then until sept 2020

Assuming they're not full of shit of course

Regarding the preorder stuff: for more niche games on Steam it makes sense to have shorter preorder windows (or even no preorder at all).
Since top seller lists are generated by integrating sales over time, having a long window will dilute more niche games too much to appear on the lists.

Having no preorder for niche games in general is better for them because to maximize visibility on Steam you want a lot of traffic on release day, big AAA games are fine either way but everyone else is better off waiting

That's a bummer but since I already paid for the game might as well go along the bugs. This is pretty much what I wanted to know about it, certainly I'm more excited to play it than before.

I'm at the very start of the game still but I'm mostly impressed by it. Visually it holds super well and taking out barbarians is way satisfying. The enemy variety so far isn't great, and it's too early for me to say something about the story since apparently it's still setting up but damn so far it's all I could ask. The upgrade system is pretty mediocre though, like, it seems really out of place.

It really is an enjoyable aspect of Sunset Overdrive. I wasn't that surprised though, considering that it is made by the same developers that created Spider-Man. which also had a gazillion number of outfits. It is sad that it is, but the reality is that it's a nice breath of fresh air in the current environment.

It really is a blemish on this port quality, but the game is definitely still worth it. I haven't run into anything game breaking so far, only annoyances, so hopefully that'll be the worst you'll have to deal with as well,

Yeah I can believe that its visuals are still impressive. I remember thinking that it was easily one of the best looking games when it released. That its upgrade system isn't all that doesn't seem too surprising either, considering that this was the time when everything had to be an "RPG" or to have "RPG elements". Still want to give it a shot sometime soon, so thanks for reminding me that it still exists. It's getting hard to remember all the shit we already purchased aeons ago and never touched let alone keeping up with all theses shiny new releases

I've been playing it the last week, I may actually finish a game. Think I've only a couple of missions left to go. 2 times I had to reload a checkpoint as the character got stuck or some graphical error wouldn't go away, I don't think that's bad for an open world game.

I did have massive frame drops and inconsistent framerates when I started the game, but changing v-sync, framecap settings etc sorted that out and stable 60 then.

Switch is such a comfy side platform, my favourite gaming purchase in years.
It's the only console i still play. I didn't bother with xbox this gen, and the last game i played on my PS4 was Persona 5 in 2016, thanks to Japanese devs finally starting to release their games on PC. If they had done so before, i wouldn't even have bought a PS4 to begin with, as i don't care about most Sony first party exclusives.

The only thing that sucks is to still be treated like an afterthought by some companies like Capcom with the new MH:World expansion coming up months later, Nioh2 coming months later, etc.

Since the NES and C64/Amiga days, i have owned most consoles along with a PC on the side, and the next gen might be the only time i don't buy a new console ( Save for whatever new system Nintendo comes up with maybe ).
