Some stores have started their sales, and GamersGate has a few decent deals:
Imagine actively waiting a David Cage game
I would say after the release of Index, Rift S and Quest, VR choices are a lot more simpler when there was just Vive, Rift and WMR.This discussion does highlight one of the biggest problems in the VR world right now, which is some VR rigs are not in the same ecosystem at all as the majority of the other VR rigs. It's like asking why a PC game back in the day didn't come out for the N64, except that in this case every VR headset is still called a VR headset. I own a capable VR headset after doing hours of research and I still don't know what most of the others are like. For all the people that are suddenly going to be looking at VR because of a major announcement like this (which is it's own sub-problem since there's a ton of crazy good VR games already, even if HL:A is great it's just the newest) are going to be more confused than I was / am.
The terminology will probably congeal over time and maybe the "other" VR ecosystems will die out (aside from the phone ones I imagine) but right now it's a headache.
Well, yes and no. It's simple once you parse it down (although still more complex than many other comparable situations like "what console" or "what controller"), but there's far more options out there than you list and many of them are not actually options if research is done, but they are still sold and described as VR.I would say after the release of Index, Rift S and Quest, VR choices are a lot more simpler when there was just Vive, Rift and WMR.
Rift S - medium entry, ease of setup with just controllers, and headset with tether cable.
Quest - "early" entry as it is first and foremost for mobile/handheld use, but can be connected to a PC for PCVR with Oculus Link
Index - Enthusiast, requires base station to be setup in the room to play, tethered to PC,
Windows Mixed Reality - mixed bag, requries more research
Once upon a time that wasn't so absurd, after Omikron and seeing the beginning of Fahrenheit I was reasonably hyped. And even for Heavy Rain there was hope that Fahrenheit going to shit quickly was a fluke, nobody could've known back then that Cage ran out of interesting ideas after 1 and half games.Imagine actively waiting a David Cage game
Most PC VR is capable of all the same games even if they differ in some capabilities. Boneworks for example will be playable on Index, WMR, Oculus, Pimax, and so on, anything with SteamVR support. Granted the Vive wand controllers might be abandoned once market share diminishes/the others market share overtakes it but it currently has a hefty 35% on Steam so most games I feel will try to support it for a while yet even if games end up clunkier and its users can eventually upgrade to new Index controllers without changing the whole thing which is good. There's the odd game that doesn't support this or that set but requirements are usually clear (unless they fuck it up like Borderlands VR) and most support them all (and some that don't may still actually work out thanks to SteamVR apis and controller rebinding features etc). So yes as a user you need to reserarch a LOT on what to buy as the most suited to you (always research any product anyway), your price range, your expectations and needs, but the actual games tend to technically work on them all when all's said and done. This discussion does highlight one of the biggest problems in the VR world right now, which is some VR rigs are not in the same ecosystem at all as the majority of the other VR rigs. I'll definitely get them once they're on Steam. I liked Heavy Rain at the time and I wanna play Beyond and Detroit. If nothing else, they'll make for fun nights of heavy drinking and laughing at how bad they are.Imagine actively waiting a David Cage game
Just watched a stream by the dev team ; tactical combat gameplay looks like shit. Really really bad.
Soo like XCOM.You can shoot someone point blank without hurting him that much
Yeah, had it in my wl but when I read that you can only control one character per turn I just dropped it, some crazy design choices going on there..Just watched a stream by the dev team ; tactical combat gameplay looks like shit. Really really bad.
You can shoot someone point blank without hurting him that much, and if you wait on your turn, you recover health. Wtf guys.
Their DLC pricing since Atelier Lydie and Suelle has been ... obnoxious, to say the least. K-T will still charge full price for 2 year old season pass. I don't think it will get any better as Ryza's Season Pass pricing has demonstrated. And lest we forget, Lulua's three-part Season Passes!I expected their DLC "policy" to be borderline insulting
I consider myself an Atelier fan, and I think they are not for me either.KOEI TECMO pricing and DLCs clearly are not for me.
they're learningWow. First actual attempt at marketing its services beyond letting people know they exist?
I apologize for attacking your perceived tone, it wasn't really about our discussion and wasn't constructive.I'm not a fan of any thing or any one in general, I don't the fan thing often, why is that a problem?
I don't have any issue with such characteristics though if that's what you're implying.
But nobody's surprised the next Assassin's Creed doesn't run on a toaster either.
I didn't have the hardware to run Witcher 2 when that came out, but I wasn't surprised. I had plenty other games from gog too, rather than whine @ CDP.
Such is life, its surprises lie elsewhere for me I guess. Moving on.
Damn, just heard about that. That fucking sucks.Brad McQuaid passed away. I'm stunned considering he was just on Cohh's stream. Terrible loss
Guy shaped my life with Everquest seeing as I made lifelong friends through that game.
All the love to the whole Pantheon team and Brad's loved ones.
I have very big doubts on that front.Disco Elysium should win best RPG at the very least.
It'll be a big upset if an indie game can actually win this time (they won't)I have very big doubts on that front.
The everquest soundtrack is wonderful. every song is filled with memoriesDamn, just heard about that. That fucking sucks.
Everquest is still one of my favorites games ever. I spent so much time playing it between 1999 and 2004. So many good memories.
I still get chills when i hear the theme and remembering myself logging into the game.
... and it's supposed to be a category for the first game each studio madePoor indie games, your award category is sponsored by subway, damn....
Ahhh ok..... The "Fresh" part.... and it's supposed to be a category for the first game each studio made
except House House already made one 3 years ago, so ... oops
pretty much, yeahAhhh ok..... The "Fresh" part.
Turns out that House House is as "Fresh" as what I've seen Subway serve.
I just hope a lot of the issues people are having/have had with the game will get fixed by the time of the Steam releaseIs this the 3rd update in 2 weeks?
Red Dead Redemption 2 gets a new 2.9GB update, resolves CPU issues and numerous crashes
The November 19th update, which is 2.9GB in size, brings improvements to address an issue that resulted in stalls on 4-core and 6-core CPUs. It also resolves numerous crashes.www.dsogaming.com
Yup. It's literally a beta test for the Steam release..I just hope a lot of the issues people are having/have had with the game will get fixed by the time of the Steam release
Thank you for beta testing.Improvements to address an issue that resulted in the player’s cores draining at a faster rate than intended in Story Mode when running at high frame rates
Improvements to address an issue that resulted in player weight decreasing at a faster rate than intended in Red Dead Online when running at high frame rates
You are not wrong. Arslan would def. desrve such an award.I think I speak for most, if not all, of the FGC when I say that Arslan Ash was fucking robbed an esports player nomination.
So happy to see Death Stranding get so much love.Ready your popcorn.gif
Agreed. The AI in Half-Life is pretty impressive.About Half Life 1, to this day I remember how impressed I was with the AI and its grenade game. Never found the same feeling again. It’s probably rose tinted glasses, I guess, but man, this game.
I mean in whatever cod when I receive a nad I’m annoyed. In HL1 I was all yeah mate I understand, I was camping behind these crates wasn’t I, and also terrified to face the fuckers that would then immediately fire all they had at me.
Better to use gg.deals dor comparison. Some stores have started their sales, and GamersGate has a few decent deals:
Not that I think they were spooked by Epic's moves that much, but I think the thing that got to them was all those people saying "valve doesn't do anything" "steam just has features no one cares about" and so on. As much as it frustrated us all hearing that, imagine working at valve on those things and people handwave things away like it's nothing. So I think awesome that they are finally celebrating things that steam does!Wow. First actual attempt at marketing its services beyond letting people know they exist?
Imagine thinking FIFA 20 is a good game lmao (half kidding)Ready your popcorn.gif
