Not many games support body tracking though and Blade & Sorcery is cool even without it. Additional tracking will probably remain more niche for now unless something like PSVR2 includes cameras that enable it for everyone or something and the rest platforms move to adapt. I like this video myself to show it off because it has simple 1 on 1 duels so you can follow the action easier rather than go to a chaotic free for all. Also no "funny" commentary.

That guy also did a good video on the recent big update.

Of course when you can see the player either in mixed reality or as a picture in picture it helps understand how a VR game works, if someone just watches the above for all he knows it could be buttons or waggles that activate random attack animations.

Sorry can't find good ones for actual Blade & Sorcery without annoying players but these make my point :p

Also as if someone can't imagine Node's video in a Half-Life & Ravenholm universe/quality AAA game, come on guys.

This discussion does highlight one of the biggest problems in the VR world right now, which is some VR rigs are not in the same ecosystem at all as the majority of the other VR rigs. It's like asking why a PC game back in the day didn't come out for the N64, except that in this case every VR headset is still called a VR headset. I own a capable VR headset after doing hours of research and I still don't know what most of the others are like. For all the people that are suddenly going to be looking at VR because of a major announcement like this (which is it's own sub-problem since there's a ton of crazy good VR games already, even if HL:A is great it's just the newest) are going to be more confused than I was / am.

The terminology will probably congeal over time and maybe the "other" VR ecosystems will die out (aside from the phone ones I imagine) but right now it's a headache.

I would say after the release of Index, Rift S and Quest, VR choices are a lot more simpler when there was just Vive, Rift and WMR.

Rift S - medium entry, ease of setup with just controllers, and headset with tether cable.
Quest - "early" entry as it is first and foremost for mobile/handheld use, but can be connected to a PC for PCVR with Oculus Link
Index - Enthusiast, requires base station to be setup in the room to play, tethered to PC,
Windows Mixed Reality - mixed bag, requries more research

Well, yes and no. It's simple once you parse it down (although still more complex than many other comparable situations like "what console" or "what controller"), but there's far more options out there than you list and many of them are not actually options if research is done, but they are still sold and described as VR.

First SM3 reviews coming in, all in the 5-7/10 range.

Imagine actively waiting a David Cage game
Once upon a time that wasn't so absurd, after Omikron and seeing the beginning of Fahrenheit I was reasonably hyped. And even for Heavy Rain there was hope that Fahrenheit going to shit quickly was a fluke, nobody could've known back then that Cage ran out of interesting ideas after 1 and half games.

Most PC VR is capable of all the same games even if they differ in some capabilities. Boneworks for example will be playable on Index, WMR, Oculus, Pimax, and so on, anything with SteamVR support. Granted the Vive wand controllers might be abandoned once market share diminishes/the others market share overtakes it but it currently has a hefty 35% on Steam so most games I feel will try to support it for a while yet even if games end up clunkier and its users can eventually upgrade to new Index controllers without changing the whole thing which is good. There's the odd game that doesn't support this or that set but requirements are usually clear (unless they fuck it up like Borderlands VR) and most support them all (and some that don't may still actually work out thanks to SteamVR apis and controller rebinding features etc). So yes as a user you need to reserarch a LOT on what to buy as the most suited to you (always research any product anyway), your price range, your expectations and needs, but the actual games tend to technically work on them all when all's said and done.

And yes you can probably buy a ton of different products that are described as VR that may be stand alone mini games or PC compatible kits meant only for 180/360 movie watching (you know what most people will use those for...) and so on but it's not hard to find the main PC VR gaming sets that are real choices.

PSVR is its own ecosystem, mobile VR its own, Quest its own, nothing confusing about it, if you have any of it then you only get the apps/games from its store so the differing capabilities there don't really affect someone confusingly unless they somehow thought their mobile/console VR could run all PC games.

Just watched a stream by the dev team ; tactical combat gameplay looks like shit. Really really bad.

You can shoot someone point blank without hurting him that much, and if you wait on your turn, you recover health. Wtf guys.
Yeah, had it in my wl but when I read that you can only control one character per turn I just dropped it, some crazy design choices going on there..

By the way, I have noticed that for the past couple of weeks I'm seeing a lot more of reviews showing up on my activity feed. Guess that the non-intrusive 'would you like to review this game' bar is doing wonders. Yeah, the reviews might not be the most detailed but most of them are serviceable enough, and considering the amount I'm seeing, especially for not so popular games, they are certainly helping.

I expected their DLC "policy" to be borderline insulting
Their DLC pricing since Atelier Lydie and Suelle has been ... obnoxious, to say the least. K-T will still charge full price for 2 year old season pass. I don't think it will get any better as Ryza's Season Pass pricing has demonstrated. And lest we forget, Lulua's three-part Season Passes!

Nelke as a fan-service title also have the same treatment (but of course):

KOEI TECMO pricing and DLCs clearly are not for me.
I consider myself an Atelier fan, and I think they are not for me either. :dana_blanket:

I'm not a fan of any thing or any one in general, I don't the fan thing often, why is that a problem?

I don't have any issue with such characteristics though if that's what you're implying.

But nobody's surprised the next Assassin's Creed doesn't run on a toaster either.

I didn't have the hardware to run Witcher 2 when that came out, but I wasn't surprised. I had plenty other games from gog too, rather than whine @ CDP.

Such is life, its surprises lie elsewhere for me I guess. Moving on.
I apologize for attacking your perceived tone, it wasn't really about our discussion and wasn't constructive.

I stand by my points and I agree, I am also moving on.

Damn, just heard about that. That fucking sucks.

Everquest is still one of my favorites games ever. I spent so much time playing it between 1999 and 2004. So many good memories.

I still get chills when i hear the theme and remember myself logging into the game.

I have very big doubts on that front.
More interestingly is that despite all the nominations Death Stranding got, it didn't get one in the Games for Impact category (which it actually deserves, in comparison to some other ones).

Oh, and Sakurai deserves Content Creator of the Year.

Why no best shooter category instead of grouping Modern Warfare with Devil May Cry? Makes no sense tbh

Edit: Also why the fuck did Jump Force get a goddamn nomination in best fighting game but not Battle for the Grid?

Randy P really is something that dude really likes to stroke his ego.

So is Shenmue 3 mainly something that OG fans will like?

And Stromlands is among one of the few AAA VR games?

I wouldn't even know how to vote on this game awards thing.

Its far easier to see 20 new films a year then it is to complete experience the same new video game releases. I only played Control myself.....

Poor indie games, your award category is sponsored by subway, damn....

Given recent news...

In the past year or so I've replayed Half-Life, and played the two expansions for the first time.

Opposing Force was very good, and it's an interesting change of pace to the original campaign. This is probably my favorite Gearbox game at this point, although aside from the original Borderlands, I don't hold their games very highly.

I enjoyed Blue Shift, but it isn't very remarkable, and fairly short. It is interesting however because of Calhoun's role in Half-Life 2. Overall though I think the decision to keep the expansions contained within the events of the original campaign and offer different perspectives was a fantastic idea.

Half-Life (and its sequel) remains to this day one of my favorite First-Person Shooters. I could speak about the excellent weapon design, the audio design of HEV suit, health chargers, and other sound effects, the presentation of the narrative, the enemies, and all manner of things. There are so many areas of design that clearly went through a lot of thought and iteration, but it's the mix of excellent level design, physics, and intentional push for the player to experiment that sets it far above anything else. Half-Life encourages you to do things that in any other game would seem like you're breaking it, or doing something you're not supposed to. But no! Despite the linear narrative, there is a lot of exploration --using objects to get to weird places; platforming down a shaft and actually finding things down there. I find this incredibly rewarding.

About Half Life 1, to this day I remember how impressed I was with the AI and its grenade game. Never found the same feeling again. It’s probably rose tinted glasses, I guess, but man, this game.

I mean in whatever cod when I receive a nad I’m annoyed. In HL1 I was all yeah mate I understand, I was camping behind these crates wasn’t I, and also terrified to face the fuckers that would then immediately fire all they had at me.

Agreed. The AI in Half-Life is pretty impressive.

I came across this video last year that delves into it.

Wow. First actual attempt at marketing its services beyond letting people know they exist?
Not that I think they were spooked by Epic's moves that much, but I think the thing that got to them was all those people saying "valve doesn't do anything" "steam just has features no one cares about" and so on. As much as it frustrated us all hearing that, imagine working at valve on those things and people handwave things away like it's nothing. So I think awesome that they are finally celebrating things that steam does!
