A Hat in Time -- I played this entirely in co-op, and we had a blast. Shorter than I expected, and I would've liked one or two more worlds in the basegame, but it was still a top-notch 3D platformer.

Katamari Damacy: Reroll -- Please help, I have like half of this game's soundtrack stuck on loop in my head. Also - the PC port's performance was super weird. Some animations locked at 30FPS, while others were unlocked, causing quite a big disconnect across the screen. Odd stuff.

Yooka-Laylee and The Impossible Lair -- Essentially a modern DKC-style 2.5D platformer, and I absolutely loved it. The overworld and its gimmicks were well implemented, and the changing levels was a very smart way to re-use ideas and assets between levels while still making things feel fresh. I think my one and only complaint is that the artstyle feels subdued at times. Everything else? Top notch stuff.

Grow Home -- I played through most of this in 2017 and just now remembered that I could finish this up tonight. It's definitely a very intentionally janky game, interesting little concept, but I can't say I was the biggest fan.

Bloodborne - I've had this on my backlog for nearly 5 years, and I bought it at launch... I don't know what it was, but I just couldn't get hooked back then. Well, since I went through DS3 and Demon's Souls last year, I figured it was high time that I finally played through Bloodborne, and I did. Great game, probably my second favorite behind Demon's Souls now.

Dragon Quest - Not much to say. It's the start of the series, and pretty simple. I enjoyed it, but I'm never touching it again.

Dragon Quest II - This is also pretty archaic, but when the game wasn't being too cryptic for its own good, I actually really enjoyed it! Probably liked it more than DQ1.

The Outer Worlds - New Vegas, in space. I enjoyed it, though it definitely felt too easy. Also optimization is actual garbage for AMD cards. My laptop runs the game better than my desktop... ironic, considering the splash screen has AMD branding.

RiME - I remembered hearing that the game's PC version had some performance issues, but I didn't really see that in my playthrough. Besides some framepacing issues in the starting area, it seemed to be a locked 1440p/60 at max settings. I enjoyed it way more than I expected. Beautiful art, amazing soundtrack, and a great twist with the story at the end.

AI: The Somnium Files - I enjoyed this quite a bit, and I'd argue it's got the best pacing of any Uchikoshi game that I've played. The problem, however, is the actual gameplay - it just isn't nearly as interesting as the Zero Escape series. Great story, though.

Monster Hunter World (PC) - This is the first replay that I've put on a list, not much to say. Monster Hunter World is fantastic and I'm glad I caught up into Iceborne on PC!

Pikuniku - It's ok. I think I paid like a dollar for this, it was alright.

My Friend Pedro - I played this on Game Pass, and I had a ton of fun. Might've overstayed its welcome just a little bit - but not by much.

Arc of Alchemist - Quite literally the worst game I've ever finished. If I never have to play it again it'll have been too soon. I reviewed it, if you want to know how I really feel!

Hero must die. again - A neat RPG that plays around a bit with mechanics and storytelling. Not the best game that I've played, but certainly an enjoyable one. I did a video review for this one!

Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate - Absolutely fantastic roguelike, and one of my favorite games on Vita. I'm happy it's coming to PC and Switch sometime later this year - more folks should play this.

Atelier Ayesha Plus: The Alchemist of Dusk - This was my first Atelier. I own the entire Dusk trilogy on Vita, but I hadn't gotten around to actually playing the games until this year. I enjoyed it, and while I've gotten side-tracked lately - I do intend to go back to Escha and Logy in a bit!

Tetris Effect - Fun, but man I wish I'd waited a few months for me to set my PSVR back up.

Journey - I got a partner I managed to play the whole game with, great experience that I'm glad I finally got to have for myself.

Katana Kami: A Way of the Samurai Story - It's... alright, but it got old quickly. The game plays and looks pretty great, though!

The Unfinished Swan - Sometimes you just want a simple walking sim to play, and this did the trick. Not the best I've played, but very good for what it is!

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX - An absolutely excellent remake, and the real reason that I picked Shiren the Wanderer back up earlier in the year - I wanted to pass the time until this came out. Loved it.

Child of Eden - A very charming rhythm-shooter game, which still looks fantastic however many years later. It's a shame that it doesn't have an XB1X enhanced patch, but it still plays well.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps - A fantastic metroidvania, and an even better follow-up to Ori's first adventure. It had a few bugs when I first played it, but I still had an absolute blast with it.

A Short Hike - It was free on EGS so I gave it a shot. I'd say it had about the perfect length - can't have much to complain about this one, really.

Nioh 2 - For my money, this improved on the basegame in nearly every way. Better level design, better enemy variety, and much better story and bosses (I don't get why some folks seem to really dislike this one's story). Great game, glad I played it.

DOOM Eternal - Definitely a very different type of game compared to 2016's release, but I adore the arcade-y action and focus. An absolute joy to play.

Final Fantasy XIV - I'm just gonna group everything under this. It took me a damn pandemic to finally start playing this, but man I had a blast. Now the hard part's done, and when new expansions come out I don't have to dread catching up!

Dragon Marked for Death - I'd played this on Switch, but I actually hadn't finished it on there. It was fascinating coming back to this, and seeing just how much the game had changed in my absence - I already enjoyed it more than most, but now I'd definitely argue it's more than worth giving a shot.

Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen - I wrote a review for this, so I'll let my past self do the talking.

Higurashi - This is in progress, and I'm almost definitely going to make an LTTP soon. I'll save my impressions for there!

Helltaker - Silly, fun puzzle game with a great artstyle and a ton of humor. Took me less than an hour but it was a blast.

Xenoblade Chronicles X - I never played this at launch for whatever reason, despite having loved the first Xenoblade and owning a Wii U. I finally got around to it on CEMU and I enjoyed it a ton. Here's my LTTP.

Ys Origin - I finished my Yunica playthrough ages ago, and kinda put it down halfway through a Hugo one back in 2018. I finally got back around to it - and it's definitely one of my favorites in the series. Final boss for Toal on Nightmare was, well, a nightmare.

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Extend - For whatever reason I decided to dig out and charge my old PSP Go, and I found out that my dumped copy of Project Diva Extend... well, I never technically saw the credits. This is definitely a bit cheeky, but it's #39 on my list so I couldn't resist.

Higurashi (cont) - I swear I'm gonna make a thread on this soon, but I'll say that it's been a fun time helping the Vita homebrew port developer test his ports for my playthrough, and the VN itself is great. Truthfully, I don't know how many people will end up playing Higurashi this way after me - but it still feels pretty great to have helped support the dev's pet project.

Flower - I remembered playing the demo for this back on the PS3 around the time it came out (I think?) but I actually never got around to playing it. I figured I would pick it up during the sale, and give it a shot. It was alright. The controls were a little frustrating, and the visuals don't wow me as much now as they might've back on PS3, but it was still pretty good.

Civilization: Beyond Earth - I did a game with a few friends of mine, us versus the AI on Hard. For many of them it was their first time playing, and I think it went pretty well! Well enough that we managed to play Civ V next...

Civilization V: Brave New World - I'm not sure if this was in 2018 or 2019, but I did complete a game of Civ V Gods & Kings a few years back. The overall game flow is different enough with Brave New World that I decided to count it again, especially since I already included my MHW replay on the list this year.

Touhou: Luna Nights - I decided to play this in preparation for a little RPG Site project that should be going live this week. It's a great little metroidvania (though it plays much more like Classicvania, really) with great combat, a charming artstyle, and a killer soundtrack. I'd definitely recommend it.

Prey (2017) - I've been playing this one on and off for years at this point, and I finally got around to finishing it. It's a really interesting immersive-sim, and it's a shame that the game clearly didn't do as well as the developers might have hoped. If you haven't got around to it yet, do yourself a favor and pick it up. I think it might still be on Game Pass?

Return of the Obra Dinn - I got this one as a gift in I want to say Winter 2018. For whatever reason I sorta bounced off of it my first attempt playing it, but thankfully that wasn't the case this time around. Truthfully there's no other games like it, and trying to discover the identities and cause of death for 60 crew members was a blast once things got rolling.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne (PC) - I finally ripped the bandaid off, and I can abandon my PS4 save. I'm in MHW's current endgame! If you're familiar with my original Iceborne review, there's not much else for me to say. It's a fantastic expansion to a fantastic game, and it's easily my favorite game in the franchise. The PC version clears up one of my main complaints, that being the piss-poor loading times on consoles.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - I believe I got this through PS+ 6 or 7 years ago, maybe even a bit longer than that. Well, playing through some of Team Ladybug's recent games gave me a bit of a metroidvania itch and I finally got around to playing it. It's still an absolute classic, and some parts of it I enjoy more than Super Metroid, but playing it now I can say without a doubt that Hollow Knight is the better game.

Castlevania GBA Trilogy - After Symphony of the Night, I still didn't have my fill. So I loaded up my Wii U for the first time in months just to buy the GBA trilogy so I could play through 'em on Vita without any nagging voices at the back of my head. They were good! The first two have their own issues, but they're still great, while I'd 100% argue that Aria of Sorrow is even better than Symphony of the Night!

The Touryst - I wanted to get around to playing this on Switch, but never did... so when it came out on Game Pass, it gave me an excuse to boot up my Xbox. I absolutely loved this, plenty of fun platforming and puzzles, and it didn't overstay its welcome. What a charming artstyle, too.

Risk of Rain 2 - I keep forgetting that, no, Risk of Rain 2 only came out this year. The early access build has been great for a while, so what else is their to say? It had some tough competition this year, with Hades and all, but any other year it would easily be the roguelike of the year. What a fantastic game.

Robotics;Notes - I wrote a review for this one.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV - Trails of Cold Steel was a mistake.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim - A modern masterpiece, and a must-play. This is the type of story that can only be told through videogames, and anyone at all that's a fan of games narratives owes it to themselves to play it. Not much more that needs to be said.

Hades - The best roguelike of the year (sorry, Risk of Rain 2). The way that Supergiant weaves storytelling through the various runs of Hades is nothing short of mastery. Hades combat is fast, fun, challenging, and always rewarding. Just a top-tier experience from start to finish.

Alan Wake - This has been one of the oldest games on my Steam backlog, and I figured it was finally to finish it once and for all - I decided doing it on Halloween was the most appropriate. It has its issues, it gets fairly repetitive after a while, but I still had a great time. I should get to Quantum Break and Control something next year...

Mad Rat Dead - NIS always makes these cute little games that try something entirely new, which is part of why I have a soft spot for them. They don't always land, but they almost always accomplish something interesting. Mad Rat Dead's mix of Crypt of the Necrodancer and an action platformer was an entertaining romp, and a great first go at an interesting concept.

Undertale - Ok, ok, I finally played it. I'd pre-ordered the Vita version of Undertale years ago but never really got around to it - I decided to finally take the plunge, and I had a great time. Not much I can say that hasn't already been said, but you can tell that the game is so well-loved for a reason! What a great game.

Astro's Playroom - Why was the best platformer I played this year the PS5 pack-in?

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 - While ultimately a bit of a disappointing sequel, I still had a great time with this. Will I keep playing it, though? Probably not. I've got Puyo Puyo Champions on Switch/PC, and Tetris 99. I don't really need another Puyo Puyo Tetris in my life at the moment.

Bugsnax - I had absolutely no expectations for this going in, and ended up playing one of my favorite games of the year? It's a charming mix between Ape Escape and Pokemon Snap, and has excellent pacing. It's a very creative little puzzle/adventure game, and I'm glad I gave it the chance it deserved.

Demon's Souls - By some stroke of fate, Demon's Souls' remake released on PS5 exactly a year after I'd finished the original on RPCS3. Demon's Souls is still great, much as I'd said last year, and the remake is a great way to either experience or revisit it. Wish they'd fixed Maneater's AI since they fixed the fog gate glitch, though.

Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout - While I've been lagging behind on my Escha & Logy playthrough, I was pleasantly surprised to see just how much I enjoyed this entry in the series, to the point that Ryza 2 is unironically one of my most anticipated games for 2021. An absolutely adorable and engaging RPG.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure 1 - I reviewed this (and the other game included with the pack)

dates are dd/mm/yyyy format

1. Grand Theft Auto V

Date finished: 12/01/2020
Total playtime: 66.8 hrs

Thoughts:
I can see why the game was liked so much when it released but I sincerely hate the protagonists (I guess that's the way they wanted you to feel toward them?). The gameplay was serviceable though I still hate driving cars and piloting helicopters.

2. Prey (2017)

Date finished:
01/02/2020
Total playtime: 33 hrs

Thoughts:
Prey 2017 was a great game, I think it's important to note that I never played the original Prey. I liked the enemies, the mimics kept messing with me and I felt that I never had enough items to keep surviving.

3. A Short Hike

Date Finished: 01/02/2020
Total Playtime: 1h30m

Thoughts: That was a lovely game, even though it's short I want to pass more time in the island.

4. A Hat in time

Date Finished: 01/03/2020
Total Playtime: 37h (I think I forgot to close the game at some point)

Thoughts: It's a charming 3D platformer, the camera is wonky but I was able to ignore it and in the end I enjoyed this game a lot.

5. FTL: Faster Than Light

Date Finished: 08/02/2020
Total Playtime: 45h

Thoughts: Definitely harder than Into the Breach and it feels more RNG prone but still a fantastic game.

6. Disco Elysium

Date Finished: 18/02/2020
Total Playtime: 30 hours

Thoughts: One of the best games I've played. It nails the mistery, the characters, the humor and most important the dialogue.

7. The Haunted Isle, a Frog Detective Game

Date Finished: 14/03/2020
Total Playtime: 52 minutes

Thoughts: Short, but the humor is on point.

8. Dark Souls 3

Date Finished: 01/04/2020
Total Playtime: 73h

Thoughts: I loved it so much I did not even noticed the amount of hours I've played it. Cool bosses and nice areas.

9. Dark Souls: Remastered

Date Finished:
19/09/2020
Total Playtime: 50h

Thoughts: Great game, besides some areas the level design still holds up.

10. The Messenger

Date Finished: 03/05/2020
Total Playtime: 20h

Thoughts: Pretty solid game, nice humor, good boss fights.

11. Streets of Rage 4

Date Finished: 09/05/2020
Total Playtime: Sincerely I don't remember

Thoughts: ITS A NEW STREETS OF RAGEEEEE

12. Sonic & All-Star Racing Transformed Collection

Date Finished:
15/05/2020
Thoughts: I've owned this game for quite some time but besides playing the local competitive I never spent much time with the career mode. Finished it and this game still holds up after 8 years.

13. Starstruck: Prologue

Date Finished:
20/05/2020
Total playtime: 3 hours

Thoughts: This prologue just made me really excited for the full game. The mix of styles is a nice touch and the musical mini-games were a nice throwback to Guitar Hero.

14. Horace

Date Finished:
28/06/2020
Total Playtime: 19h

Thoughts: It's a cinematic platformer, seriously there are a lot of cinematics on Horace. I started playing thinking it was just a platformer about a robot boy who wanted to collect 1.000.000 of things and I wasn't expecting to bond with the characters in a story that keeps going even after you think it reached it peak.

15. Risk of Rain 2

Date Finished: 15/08/2020
Total Playtime: 37.5h

16. Inmost

Date Finished: 23/08/2020
Total Playtime: 6.8h

17. Paradise Killer

Date Finished: 16/09/2020
Total Playtime: 16.2h

18. Dépanneur Nocturne

Date finished: 18/09/2020
Total Playtime: I forgot to note how much time, all I remember it was a short.

19. Frog Detective 2: The case of the Invisible Wizard

Date finished: 24/10/2020
Total playtime: 2.5h

Life is Strange 2: Great improvement over the first one, I'm not really into this type of games but I enjoyed LiS 2 quite a lot, it definetly helped that I was able to play all the episodes at once since usually the waiting between episodes really turns me off. Overall 8/10 and would recommend it.

Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undertride & Hordes of the Underdark: After finishing the main game back in December I decided to play the expansions, I kinda enjoyed them (but mostly out of nostalgia) since Undertride seemed more of the same and Underdark improved some of the weaker points of the game (character development and interactions) but at the end and after more than 80 hours playing I felt that it was dragging along. They are ok if you enjoy the main fluff but the strong point in Neverwinter Nights always was the custom modules.

Through the Woods: Weak experience, a linear horror game with a lot of touches regarding nordic mythology, the characters look really rough and the landscape too but both were a little better once the nights sets in the game. Overall I can only see a person enjoying it if they are a horror fan and/or are interested in the nordic myths. Propos for trying something different with the hostile creatures in the game tho.

Cave Story+: I actually played this game back in the day and well... what can I say that hasn't been said yet. It's a really cute and enjoyable game that you can beat in a couple of days with a charming personality and characters (and I really like the designs) I think everyone should give it a look.

February

Halo Reach: It's the first Halo I play from start to finish and I enjoyed it, beated it 2 times (one in co-op) and it was fun but a bit short, definitely waiting for the rest of the Master Chief Collection to hit Steam!

Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition: Managed to beat all the old and new campaigns so I spent almost all my gaming time this month doing that, now I'll do just some achievement clean up and dive into the multiplayer again. I'm huge AoE fan and I'm already expecting the next one.

Singularity: This one was a surprise since I expected an average first person shooter but ended up enjoying it a lot, the story was interesting with some cool twists and the whole team travel and its related skills were fun to toy with, I would recommend it if you like fps but want to try something out of the ordinary.

March

Sniper Elite: The OG one, not going to lie it's getting a little bit dated but if you crank up the difficulty you still have a pretty solid ''sniper simulator'' that doesn't overstay his welcome with its length.

Chaos on Deponia: Been a while since I beated the fist Deponia and I never got around to play the sequels, well the quarantine solved that.
The game is really fun and I really enjoy the artstyle and the humor, some of the mechanics regarding Goal I found a little bit annoying but great game nonetheless.

Goodbye Deponia: Was great to see all the characters reunited for the climax and see the resolution of the story... that I didn't like very much, I found the ending kinda underwhelming but the rest of the game was as good as other Deponia games regarding the humor and the characters, great trilogy for the genre.

Resident Evil HD Remaster: This was my heavy hitter this month, I beated the game twice with Jill and another one with Chris, I probably will do another run soon. It was great seeing the mansion again and I liked the changes they made in the remaster, It's a great point of entry into the series if the original one is too dated for you.

Home is Where One Starts: I'm not a fan of walking simulators and sadly this was no exception. The game is way too short and with very little to say regarding the story, I guess it's ok if you are a fan of the genre but there are way better games over there.

Viking: Battle for Asgard: I got this for free some years ago and I finally tried, the pc version is not perfect but it's serviceable, I liked the setting but the ending felt reeeeally rushed. It's ok for some mindless hack n' slash fun, just don't expect the gameplay to change that much because each island is more or less the same, kill some bad guys, make an army, attack the fortress.

11-11 Memories Retold: I got this from a Monthly Bundle and pleasantly surprised me, WWI is kind of forgotten gaming wise and I enjoyed the setting and the fact that every character speaks in his own language, adding more immersion to the game. It's a pretty neat game that show you how the average man fighting isn't too different no matter what country he is from.

April

12 is better than 6: Cool Hotline Miami-esque game, I digged the artstyle, nothing much to say, controls are tight and the game doesn't overstay his welcome.

1979 Revolution Black Friday: I like the story since I know some of the details due to some friends from Iran but gameplay wise it's just the pretty standard stuff for this kind of games. Just buy for cheap if you like the setting or the Telltale formula.

Crash Bandicoot Nsane Trilogy: Beated all three, true endings. What can I say about these games that hasn't been told yet, great graphics and art direction, gameplay wise I sometimes felt Crash itself didn't feel as responsive as he should bot otherwise pretty solid trilogy and a great proof about what remakes should be.

Blazblue Calamity Trigger: Eh, I played it because I like the franchise but there are porbably better fighting games out there, even on the same franchise (like, play centralfiction lmao), it's cool exploring the different paths for the characters but be warned, the game is not keyboard friendly.

The Witcher 2: Just replayed the game, this time playing the Iorveth route, I think I overall liked this run more than the Roche one. Great game, in some ways I like it more than The Witcher 3.

Night in the Woods: Like The Witcher, I replayed it, this time the Gregg route. I love this game and its atmosphere, a must play for sure.

Frog Detective 1: Beated in like an hour, it's really cute but probably aimed at kids, will be in a Humble Choice soon so I guess it doesn't hurt to give it a try if you want.

May

Hotline Miami: Yes I played the Hotline Miami clones before the og and I must say it didn't affect my enjoyment of it, really fun and action-packed it really inspired a new wave of similar games and I'm all for it! Killer soundtrack too (no pun intended)

Murdered Soul Suspect; This game screams PS3 from all sides, I kinda liked the setting and the town but the game has some pacing issues plus the gameplay isn't that exciting (you can transform into a cat tho, so it's worth), it's an okay mystery game.

Yonder The Cloud Catcher Chronicles: I really loved this game, very cute setting and graphics and great if you like to relax, tend some farms and animals in a very casual way and just enjoy the scenarios and take pics. The story is kinda non existant but it's great for spending some good quality quarantine time.

June

Sakura Swim Club: Just... don't ask, it was a gift ok?

Trap Shrine: I just.. get a lot of weird gifts... believe me :dizzy-face:

Terraria: Beated the final boss with some friends, great game and really fun coop!

A Plague Tale Innocence: The gem in an overall quiet month, I LOVED this game so much I did 100% of the achievements, really liked the period, the characters and the story. Gameplay is decent but it shines best when you are playing stealthy.

July

Portal 2: Beated the singleplayer and co-op mode, great platform game and one of the ''classics'' I never played.

Brothers A tale of Two Sons: Short, cute and touching, had the game on the backlog for really long and I didn't regret playing it.

Overcooked: Must play on co-op, really fun gameplay.

Metro 2033 Redux: Never played the Redux version, overall the game is still the same, pretty solid fps with some survival mechanics.

Assassin's Creed Unity: Booooring, the setting and some traces of the story are the only saving grace of this dull game.

August

Grotesque Tactics Evil Heroes: Yikes, I mean it's sometimes funny and it's short but man it was a rough game to play, the gameplay is just really swallow.

Titanfall 2: Bought it because of this forum, man I think it's the best FPS campaign I've played in a long time.

Final Station: Ok pixel ''survival'' game, the plot has a couple of catches and the dlc adds some nice touches to the plot.

Batman Arkham City: Replayed it, best Arkham game hands down.

Battle Chef Brigade: I just love this kinda Food Wars-esque setting, give it a go!

Batman Arkham Origins: Liked the story more than I expected but overall I prefer City.

I play games sometimes too.

1. No Man's Sky - Jan. 5
I completed the main story so consider it finished, as much as an infinite universe sandbox can ever be finished. I plan to keep playing it, but after 50+ hours I feel I get to tick it off as done.

2. Vampire: The Masquerade: Coteries of New York - Jan. 8
This was merely ok, for me. I love the setting and some of the characters were quite interesting, but I wish the ending didn't come crashing down so abruptly.

3. A Short Hike - Jan. 21
This lives up to its name. It's cute, but not something I wanted to spend any more time with after the hour it took me to finish the main "quest." I have a feeling there are tons of little things you can do to add playtime but it never grabbed me enough to make me want to keep at it.

4. Assassin's Creed Odyssey - Legacy of the First Blade - Feb. 6
Yes, it's DLC... but it took me 10 hours to complete, which is longer than some full games I've played this year so I'm counting it. I liked it overall. It's more AC, but I liked the tragic aspects of the story.

5. Assassin's Creed Odyssey - Fate of Atlantis -Feb. 16
This DLC really makes me wish Ubi would make a new, full-on open world fantasy RPG IP. There was some amazing scenery in this one. Anyway, that's my time with ACO done, 108 hours later.

6. The Supper - Feb 16
A 20 minute long point and click adventure game, by the pixel artist from Thimbleweed Park. A creepy, gorey, short story of a game. Also, it's free! If you like it you can buy an art PDF as DLC for $2 to support the creator.

7. Nordlicht - Feb. 23
A tedious point and click adventure game with a twee art style. Maybe I'm just cranky, but this did nothing except annoy me. The ending tries to get cheap feels from you, but I saw it coming within minutes of starting the game. Thankfully it's only 1.5 hours long at most. Unfortunately, most of that playtime comes from the painfully slow walking speed of the playable characters.

8. Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Apr. 6
This was a long time coming! ~85 hours, and I skipped SOOOO much side content. I liked aspects of it, though I felt no connection to the world or the story, and thought most of the characters were pretty one-note. If nothing else, it makes me super-relieved that Larian Studios is making Baldur's Gate 3 turn-based, because the number of trash fights in RTwP games is exhausting.

9. Max Gentlemen Sexy Business - June 14
This is a weird one. It's got relationship building like a visual novel, but the bulk of the game is a simple gameplay loop of building up troops/improving your executives and defeating your rivals. It's also, optionally, a porn-ish game. You can control how explicit things are, but there is full frontal nudity for both genders, though no sex acts are depicted visually.

10. Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr - June
I finally got around to playing through this DLC. It's more ESO. It definitely scratches my open world RPG itch.

11. Observation - June 8
A pretty interesting sci-fi "thriller." You control an AI that's assisting an astronaut after "sci fi stuff" happens to the space station she works on. You basically jump around the station via wall mounted cameras, doing little puzzle tasks. You also get to move around in a floating sphere at some points, which lets you move freely. The story has some pretty good moments, especially near the end, but the puzzles are not particularly interesting and traversing the station can be tedious - panning a camera is very slow and clunky, and moving around as the sphere can be disorienting and also makes an annoying compressed air sound(it sounds like someone blowing in a straw) every time you even nudge the controls.

Nice thread.

1) Blasphemous

A really neat Metroid-vania that isnt too difficult.

2) Dark Souls II
(09/02/2020)

Originally got halfway through this then dropped it for SOTFS, finally finished it today.

3) Metro Exodus
(23/02/2020)

Got the "bad" ending.

4) DOOM Eternal
(24/03/2020)

Great game, although near the end it got a bit too hectic for me.

5) Castle Of Illusion
(04/04/2020)

Pretty short and simple platformer.

6) Jettomero
(03/05/2020)

Neat little game about a robot trying to save humanity. Soundtrack and artstyle is really nice.

7) Dead Space Series
(10/07/2020)

Played through the whole series again now 3 is on STEAM. Probably my favourite horror series.

8) Darksiders Genesis
(23/07/2020)

A worthy addition to the series, let down by some bugs and control issues.

9) Toki
(24/07/2020)

Never actually finished this back in the day, so just put it on Easy and beat it in under 2 hours.

10) Halo 3 MCC
(02/08/2020)

Finished a Heroic playthrough, still my favourite in the series.

11) Hellbound
(12/08/2020)

Pretty short, but really good FPS.

12) Red Dead Redemption 2
(20/09/2020)

Great game, loads to do, brilliant characters and story.

13) Control
(02/10/2020)

Really enjoyed this, probably Remedy's best game

14) G String
(27/12/2020)

Some good bits here and there, but too much wondering where I'm supposed to be going and floor is lava sections.

Claiming a spot.

1. Nier: Automata "Ending A" (1/3/20) Ending B (1/10/20)
Just got through ending B. Uhhhh, this game is insane. Can't wait to play more.

2. Spyro Reignited Trilogy "Spyro the Dragon" (1/14/20) "Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage" (1/21/20) "Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon" (1/29/20)
Spyro 2 is definitely the best one. 1 is good and 3 has way too many mini-games and extra characters. I want the core gameplay and YOTD has too many diversions from that. Still a great game, though. 3000/3000 Gamerscore, baby!

First update post!

#1 A Hat in Time – Completed 1/1/2020 PC – 8 hours
#2 Katamari Damacy: Reroll – Completed 1/1/2020 PC – 3 hours
#3 Yooka-Laylee and The Impossible Lair – Completed 1/3/2020 PC – 10 hours
#4 Grow Home – Completed 1/4/2020 PS4 – 3 hours

Maybe embedding the sheet wasn't a great idea, feels like the embed loads a bit slow on mobile. I wonder if it would make a difference if I used a single sheet instead of the multitab one.

Anyways, game 1 done. Finished Tacoma, it's neat.

January 5: Slay the Spire. About 18 hours. Can't believe I finally had a successful run! This was on Switch, but OP said we can make our own rules, so nyah. Review: I hate roguelikes and card games but played this because of the positive reviews. And I can't wait to keep playing it. Definitely check it out if you're even slightly on the fence.

I completed game #2, Spyro the Dragon Remake.
Even though it's one package for all 3 remakes, I'm going to include them all as individual games, for obvious reasons.

It's neat, but some of the level design is a bit stale. Also it feels like some of it was built before they had deiced on Spyro's jump and jumping up stairs feels bad. Like you can almost make two steps in one jump but you can't. It's accurate to what I remember from the original though, and I wonder if the second game is the same.

#3: Dark Fall - Ghost Vigil - Good spooky puzzle narrative myst-like from Darkling Room. It's getting patches so it should be solid when it releases on Steam. I'm looking forward to their next release leater this year.

#1 Halo: Reach: This was my first proper introduction to the Halo series, and it was quite the ride, although not necessarily in the way most people would expect from the use of that expression. More of a very mixed bag of highs and lows.

First thing's first: when the original Halo launched, my younger brother was insane about the game, and kept trying to get me to play it. Just by looking at him play, I was of the opinion that it was a perfectly "vulgar" game, and that if it had released on PC it would have been just another FPS, and people wouldn't be as hyped about it than they were on the Xbox. I understand it helped popularize the FPS genre on consoles, but I wasn't seeing nothing new in it, or particularly good. After much insistence, I tried a bit of co-op with him, but I was lost trying to aim using the Xbox controller, so I quickly dropped it.
When the game was released on PC, I tried the PC demo, and it only helped reinforce my opinion that it was a perfectly vulgar shooter. I didn't care for it one bit.

Fast forward to 2019/2020: I ended up buying the Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The price point was quite good, for 6 games, and I ended up getting it to support more Microsoft releases on PC, and so that I could give the series another chance.
The first 3 or 4 missions, I was bored to tears. I really wasn't feeling the game at all, like my first impressions of the original Halo. Uninteresting maps and missions (it doesn't help that dialogues are hard to understand, and there's no subtitles for anything but the cutscenes), guns lacking in "feedback" (outside of a couple of weapons, it barely felt like I was hitting the enemies, especially with the alien weapons), and that whole thing about its "cover based" gameplay (take cover, shoot, take cover, shoot; I'm more of an old-school, run and shoot kind of player :) ).
But, after a few missions stages improved, and there were even some variations (like space combat sections, where you fly a ship) and I ended up having some fun with the later stages. So, my final impression ended up being on the positive side of things, and I'll be sure to play the next titles when they launch.
I still feel like many weapons lack "feedback" (pretty much all weapons that aren't sniper riffles; they could really improve that aspect of the game), and maps are mostly designed to take you from one encounter to another, and it's pretty clear when that's going to happen (when plenty of places to take cover appear on the screen). I like the game a lot more when you are running through several floors of a base, and killing enemies in frenetic fashion, or in missions like "the package", were you first have a somewhat open map (and even vehicular combat), and then have frenetic shootouts while flying around in a jetpack.

So, while I'm not totally converted to the series, I ended up enjoying my time with the later portion of the game.
Plus, from what I'm seeing the The Master Chief Collection really is a very generous offer, price-wise. 39,99€ for 6 games, plenty of multi-player modes (including co-op), plenty of challenges and achievements (with free unlockables tied to them), and more, is a pretty good deal.

#2 Frog Detective 2: The Case of the Invisible Wizard: Like the first game, this new Frog Detective entry is a short, charming, and mostly "challengeless" game. Colourful graphics, an enjoyable soundtrack, and once again, plenty of "quirky" characters and dialogues.
I enjoyed my time with it. Although, I have to say that unlike the first game, several achievements require you to essentially "fail" on what you're supposed to do. When I played the first game, I managed to get all but one achievement just by normally playing the game. On this one, I only had less than half of the achievements, because most require you to fail and do "wrong things". I can't say I'm very found of this change in achievement logic, but the game is yet another nice break from all the violence and darkness that is featured in most videogames. I look forward to the next game. :)

Might as well try and document what games I have finished in 2020. Here we go:

1) Iron Fisticle (Steam) - Completed main game with 100% achievements. A fun indie game with arcade elements like Smash TV and Gauntlet...arcade games you find back in the 1980s and 90s. Those interested should find some fun with the game. Usually goes for $1.00 during sales events.

I kinda finished my first 2020 game. Picross S3 on Switch.
Kinda because I 100%ed everything byt the Mega Picrosses like I always do, but as usual I'm stupid enough to try them now. I'm in deep trouble :anguished-face:

Got another update ready!

#5 Bloodborne – Completed 1/6/2020 PS4 – 26 hours
#6 Dragon Quest – Completed 1/7/2020 SNES – 10 hours
#7 Dragon Quest II – Completed 1/12/2020 SNES – 15 hours
#8 The Outer Worlds – Completed 1/18/2020 PC – 16 hours
#9 RiME – Completed 1/19/2020 PC – 4 hours

January 2020:
1) 1979 Revolution: Black Friday -- I enjoyed the story. The game wasn't that great.
2) My Friend Pedro -- Fun. Hong Kong Massacre is better.
3) Gunman Clive -- Fun.
4) Bottom of the 9th -- I like tabletop games and baseball, so this was neat.
5) Devolver Bootleg -- I loved it.
6) Downwell -- Will I ever beat this game?

February 2020:
7) Goat Simulator -- I'm just jackin' around, really.
8) Thomas Was Alone -- Beautiful.
9) Faerie Solitaire -- Mindless.
10) ZOMBI -- I think I'm playing this?

I will try to make an updated post here. If I remember to update it. If I remember where it is :anguished-face:

1) Picross S3 - Nintendo Switch - 2020.01.14 - 7 / 10

The universe is divided between the pure souls that never tried Picross and the shambling crack addicts that did. It's a good thing that the natural world doesn't have that much checkered patterns, because my life would suddenly consist of 'I see you God, there are 15 cases and those 3 must be black !!!'
That being said the pixel art is not that good, far too zoomed in at first to be pleasant. It often only make sense once zoomed out to a tiny stamp.
The new Color Picross mode is solid, but globally more of the same.
But it's Picross. And there are cases to fill :grimacing-face:

2) Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse - Nintendo 3DS - 2020.01.17 - 2 / 10

A surprisingly miserable 90 hours experience. This is basically IV, next to no notable new ideas. The plot has its moments but they are relative and so few and far between. UI is horrible, it made the job the first time but didn't resist this second serving. In fact a lot of things become insufferable by repetition. Graphics for one. Character design is new, some say too anime, I say too shitty. The two last dungeons are horrific mess on the graphic front, one has to wonder how they could have been green lit. Music were perfect to go along this, meaning my hears suffered a lot.
Oh, and the final boss is an uber motherfucker, difficulty-wise.

#3 Red Dead Redemption II | January 19 | 80 hours | ★★★★★
#4 The White Door | January 20 | 115 minutes | ★★☆☆☆
Finished a couple of games. The White Door was disappointing, RDR2, on the other hand, was pretty impressive. I did not expect to like it so much, I'm probably going for all the achievements (mixing it up with other games).

1. Iris.Fall - Beautiful puzzle/adventure game in which a young girl explores an abandoned theatre and uses the shadows to navigate areas. While similar in themes to Contrast, this is a no pressure 2.5D puzzle game. ★★★★

2. Call of Duty Advanced Warfare - Fun set pieces, decent story, no doggo, fun locations. Pew pew etc... ★★★

3. Bioshock 2 Remastered - Been ages since I played it, long enough that I didn't really remember any of it. Throughly enjoyable and a unique perspective to play from. ★★★★

4. Mo:Astray - Stunning Pixel platformer where you play Mo, a small slug like creature born after a disaster has befallen the world. Fantastic art, sound, design, boss fights and controls make this a must play. ★★★★★
