What's with all the references to "prankster uncles"?
Seen it several times lately and feels like I've missed something...
If I remember correctly. is in reference to an old "Steam concurrent players new record" thread on neogaf where people kept dismissing the feat saying that the numbers were high because grandmas and uncles were running Steam on the background.

I was wondering why my computer was so unresponsive at times. I found the culprit: GeForce Now... in the background, it is not even in the task bar!

Delivery Optimization service (DoSvc). It is still running after I closed the task related to Geforce Now.

However, the computer is not sluggish anymore, so I will let the service run. Maybe the issue was due to the combination of the two tasks, maybe it was solely due to Geforce Now. The funny thing is that there was no visual cue that Geforce Now was running, which is pretty annoying.

IIRC there was specifically one post which related an anecdote about someone's uncle setting up Steam auto-launch as a prank and that being the reason for Steam always running.

It was sufficiently ridiculous to give birth to the meme.

I can barely take them in non-VR, i cant even image what it must be like in VR
Skyrim's spiders literaly give me goosebumps and chills when I run into them in VR. It's really bad when they drop from the ceiling.

It's not an Nvidia service if it's not eating CPU cycles for no good reason. :dana_blanket:

I never installed GFE etc. precisely because of it.
OK this seems amazing.
Gokudolls is an underrated series which not a lot of people has watched because it's forever stuck on Netflix. :02cry:

I need some advice from an xcom 2 player.

I'm getting ready to go through the game properly (finally) and I wanted to know if it's possible to play the base game first and then the expansion, but utilize the huge performance improvements the expansion brought the base game. I have no idea how many gameplay changes the expansion made and how much of it is interwoven with base xcom 2, for all I know the two were combined and you'll eventually run into expansion stuff naturally while playing a campaign.

Back before I had an SSD, the expansion actually caused way Worse performance for me. While the original worked quite alright, the expansion had longer loading times and more hitching...

19.1 million concurrent for Steam is impressive asf.

I wonder what Sweeney thinks of all this. His store was supposed to bring balance to PC gaming and end Valve's monopolistic tyranny.

How long now before Fortnite gets released on Steam? I wonder what kind of concurrent #s it would have.

Most likely because China is under quarantine so everyone is in their home playing whatever. Note that the peak time is Asia's prime time.

Or probably grandmas and prankster uncles.
Its not really because of Asia prime time. Its the one time of the day where America, Europe and Asia players log in the most at same time. Being weekend just makes that number higher since people in US can play in mornings without work etc. Its usually when all the records are broken on Steam.

I don't think the virus has much to do with it tbh. Maybe a little but the # has been slowly growing up to now long b4 the virus stuff. This just shows PC gaming is very healthy right now and continues to grow.

It is not really recommended to not play the expansion. If you finish XCOM2 base-game there is no point where you can continue with the expansion. The expansion is completely interwoven from the start.
unless you want to play xcom2 two times, just play the expansion.

Alright I'll play it all at once then. Thanks!

I just went 5-0 in best of 3 matches in Draft in Magic Arena! That's a first for me and I earned a bunch of packs and paid currency for it.

I don't know that those events are worth the entry cost but I got a free one and Drafted a sweet Red/Green deck with lots of removal and some big creatures and just stomped all over most of my matches. I did lose a few games along the way so it wasn't perfect, but I was able to pull it out and win all the sets after sideboarding. Theros Draft is a really fun format and it definitely plays to my strengths in grindy games with lots of creatures being viable.

Plot twist time, I restarted my PC and I got a pop up saying FFXV was download
Mine started slowly, got to 2% download and just stopped. Eventually it woke up and downloaded at somewhere between 4-5 MBps even though steam maxes at 6MBps. It has gotten better, they've mostly sorted patching games now but downloading with PC gamepass is still hit and miss.

Also Panda Pedinte I can see your real name on the microsoft/xbox system alongside you handle. You can turn off displaying it if you wish on a XBONE:

But I'm not sure how to do it if you don't have one, just PC gamepass. Same with oipic, freshVeggie, didamangi, Monooboe, brokenswiftie and some others.

I must say, as much as it pains me, that Ys Celceta, while solid as fuck in its core, is also quite boring to me.

Gameplay is great (boss aren't all that, though, but no big deal) but it's a modern Falcom game. Which implies characters talking. Talking. They talk. Did I mention they like to talk. Yeah.
And, let's forget for a moment my known conflictual relationship with Trails writing, I hope we can agree that in this, it drags. A lot. Have the slight misfortune of hitting your toe on a rock, and then EVERY. FUCKER has an OPINION about it. Or something else, because why not.

I came to name those moments narrative tunnels. But those tunnels can drag...

On the bright side, the plot and background are not bad at all. Relatively, dare I say original ? Surprising. Not bad at all. It's just that when the game decides it's time to take a break and develop its story, it halts.

Yeah, party Ys tends to be a bit boring. And it got worse with each game getting longer and longer. Though I also consider Celceta to be the weakest of the bunch, even if it improves the gameplay of 7... the levels are not quite as good (not that were amazing in 7 to begin with).
Ys 8 is a far superior game anyway, even if it even longer thanks to the crappy base defense missions.

In other news I played two worlds of

And I'm surprised at how solid it is.
It's your classic Doom clone (or well, maybe Wolfenstein since the levels have very little verticality), but with some light RPG elements in gaining levels to improve some stats, unlock some perks (like extra ammo on pick up), two very different upgrades for each weapon. It lets you specialize a bit more, in guns, magic, or even melee, interesting for replayability. Since you get a lot of XP and upgrade points in hidden rooms, the secrets are even more relevant than usual, and it's not like powerful ammo is forgotten.
And it works quite well, considering that it has solid variety for a game of the this type: every world has a theme, and the ennemies change every time. Some are a bit reskinned, but some are quite unique.
Same thing for the levels themselves, even in the medieval world you explore a dungeon and a castle, but also sewers and a graveyard with a little garden.

You move very fast, you can avoid (most) projectiles, weapons have mostly good sound design, enemy feedback is very good (especially on bigger ennemies whose sprites fall apart, losing abilities at the same time; a broken ice golem can't send shock waves anymore and just bum rush you), you find keys to open the way... all the classics done quite well.

It even has a cool soundtrack and pretty lighting and effects to help the very simple visuals.

Really, really good surprise.
It's maybe not as good as DUSK gameplay-wise, but it goes for something a bit different and does it very well.

I got a Sims vibe brewing for some months. Launched Origin, looked at the DLC, noped out for a moment.
I know you don't have to buy everything to enjoy the game, it's just that, deep down there is a distinct signal shooting : if you like what you play, prepare your ass :cryblob:

And the funny thing ? I saw the discounted prices :so-good-blob:

Having a great time with Mutant Year Zero. Not suprising considering it combines 2 of my favorite things, a post-apocalyptic setting and tactical gameplay. Love the art direction as well.

I just took a glimpse at the simulator genre, with a little more attention for the more 'exotic' ones.
The rabbit hole is deep, will make a post if I can find my way out.
