Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Breakpoint: Developer Update

OFFLINE MODE
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint was built from the ground up to be an online experience. We heavily investigated the possibility of adding the option of an offline mode, but we were not able to come up with a solution that did not create an unacceptable amount of technical risks.

I have not played much of Civ V nor VI, but should I just jump into VI or should I play a bit of V first?

All these tech fools think we're going to the moon and mars and put a rocket into space every five minutes. It's just a distraction from the real great unsolved technical problem of our times: offline video games. We need to get focused. We can beat this thing if we work together.

I did it, I bit the bullet and ordered an internet connection! Fibre with 1gb down and 600mb up!:D Just need to get that ethernet dongle. Still even with wifi it I will be able to play things like Destiny 2 in multiplayer!:D

15€ for internet per month for the internet and I should be able to get my phone bill down to 15€ also(it's 20€ now) since it's the same company.

I believe the consensus is that V is better than VI if you're considering the full versions but VI is better than V for the vanilla versions.

Do you own either or both? Sounds like you might.

I do as well and was reading some recent comparison opinions.

The majority feel that Civ V (Complete) is still better than Civ VI (w/ current DLC).

The former goes on sale often and I noticed it can be had for $10 right now.

That's great news, and those are pretty good prices. The one thing fibre enabled for me was actually storing photos in the mighty cloud. Or rather, I plan to. But all of a sudden with those speeds, uploading upwards of 500gb is not unfeasible anymore.

I'm concerned, I can see Ubi go down that bullshit always-online path again. AC2 called. "Technical risk" is a thing I'd like to see him elaborate on.

And there it goes another chapter of Red Dead Redemption 2, Chapter 5 was a good one, Guarna was not my cup of tea as I don't like the Caribbean setup but it was a roller coaster of action and emotions. :coffee-blob:

Civ 5 still completely holds up. It's quite different than Civ6 though, which I still can't get into. I don't think most people feel that 5 is made obsolete by 6.

You forgot, "Wonder which of my mods updated to 1.1 release?"

It's been so funny to see that auto-download start for RimWorld Workshop every time I fire up Steam.

Not sure how or when it happened, but I somehow managed to subscribe to over 160 RW mods. And they're been steadily getting 1.1 versions all week.

Seriously. How the hell did I end up with so many mods?

I blame alcohol.

I have 3 mods - Prepare carefully, Doormats and thought bubbles.

Which would you recommend as real quality of life changes?

I've owned this since it launched on bethesdas launcher but I kind of want it consolidated onto steam so I'd sort of want it on there to play with other people because constantly logging into the bethesda client is immensely stupid (It doesn't remember Login info) and you can't see friends lists for the game until you're inside the actual game.
Bethesda client still has nothing like that, by client it's literally just a updater with hyperlinks to stuff

This really makes me want to replay Black Mesa to experience the finished product. I definitely need to get around to it some time.

Sorry I meant to reply to this, but got lost in the shuffle. I'm curious how well balanced it is, and if the end game is as broken/boring as I've heard it can be - cleaners do the entire mission to save time, etc. Where as with XCOM difficult ramped up and everyone from your team was needed to complete a mission.

Oh and how much the overarching 'spy' plot plays into things
I've played maybe halfway through the CIA plot.... (the KGB plot is supposed to be almost the same except for the opening)

The gameplay is XCOM, but mostly stealth. You want to do everything to avoid combat, since it is really hard to survive.

The story is nothing to write home about, where there's some overarching plot going around but the standard missions really fail to tie into it in a meaningful way.

You often get to decide whether to play a mission or just "foil" the bad guys' plans off screen (and get worse rewards).
After playing a few hours you definitively skip a lot of missions since they all feel very same-y...

And the "connect leads together using strings" is really meaningless, since it doesn't reveal anything regarding what it says it shall reveal, and the rewards for finishing a board is completely unrelated to the issue of the board.

Creating new aliases for your agents is a neat feature, except you do not need to change their appearance at all. Changing their appearance is totally voluntary, so you pretty much just pay to get a new ID with a new name and perhaps a picture (if you want to lose your grip on which agent is which).

But the upsides... The setting is fantastic and the soundtrack is perfect for a spy thriller.
The game is fun for a few hours, but it outstays its welcome a bit!

Here's some of my faves.

- Facial Stuff is sold on facial animations, but the real star of the show is the Rayman-like hands & feet they add to pawns, giving them walking animations. It's a game-changer. Be sure to go to Options > Mod Settings > Facial Stuff to adjust stuff (click the Animate Animals box, etc.)

- Camera + lets you zoom WAAAAY in/out. Great for presentation flair.

- Stack XXL lets you adjust the size of stacks so you can have smaller storage areas. Again don't forget to tweak in Options > Mod Settings, etc.

- RimHUD gives you way more info at a glance on one screen (i.e. when you click a pawn). No more click pawn, click mood/skills/etc.

- Need Harmony to run Camera+, etc. Put it at the top of your list or just hit Auto-sort Mods button.

- RPG Inventory - fun way to display your pawn's gear.

- Industrial Rollers: automate resource movement around map

Legend of Legaia on PS1 attempted this by entering specific button inputs (Up, Down, Right or Left combos) to perform fancy looking attacks. It's still a ps1 game though so that ish draaaaaags.
Gimme a 2x option, emulators pls.
Now that you say it, yea Legend of Legaia was a better version of what Indivisible was trying to do I think. I got it towards the end of my PS1 days so never finished it but it was fun for a while.

I said thank you to a virtual robot, out loud. And I tried to be super gentle in my tone to please him.
I’m now lying on the sofa, tired and, above all, mind completely blown. The possibilities !

But I’m not even sure I don’t regret the purchase. The first few moments were magical, but then you end up in Occulus Home and ya, it’s not really good looking and the screen door effect.., I don’t care that much about pixels but there is a darkness to the image sometimes.

Oh and space wise it’s horrible, I emptied the center of the room and it was not nearly enough. The cable is just an accident waiting to happen, accident that could be serious.

My question to the people who use VR : do you unplug the headset each tile you use it ?

In case I wasn’t clear enough yet. Mind. Blown.

Yeah, the first few moments are really cool. But there are many more moments like that, later on (it depends on the game tho). I agree with you on all the downsides: the screen door effect is very noticeable often. Apparently this is less of a problem with the Index, but I have the Rift S, which was the most sensible option when I bought it (that was in autumn, around the time when HLA was first announced). The Rift S has some other problems, too. Often the software doesn't recognize the device plugged in and goes into a loop of "please restart the Oculus software", and it's been very annoying plenty of times. Oculus is seemingly aware of this problem that several people have, but so far unable to fix it. Just look at this thread: Oculus Discussion Forums

Space-wise I also need to agree with you. I emptied out my apartment as well as I could, but its still only a few steps until I'm in the boundaries. And I have hit walls and stuff before and I surely will again. I can only hope I wont injure myself or destroy something. I played sitting down a bunch of times, with some games that even makes more sense. Moss, for example.

Oh, and I sometimes unplug it, sometimes leave it plugged, depends on how much VR I'm planning to play.

damn the Blands 3 Steam FAQ is goldmine :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Thanks to the magic of PC Cross-Play powered by SHiFT, you'll be able to join forces with other PC players regardless of whether they purchased the game on Steam or the Epic Games Store
....
Borderlands 3 supports PC Cross-Play between Steam and the Epic Games Store with the power of SHiFT Matchmaking. When launching Borderlands 3 for the first time on Steam, and on Epic after installing a new patch, you'll be greeted by a "PC Cross-Play" screen and the option to enable or disable this feature.
...
Your save data can be transferred between the Steam and Epic PC platforms, but you will have to move your save files manually. By doing so, you run the risk of potentially losing your save files, so we strongly recommend that you make a backup copy of your save
...
When Borderlands 3 is first released on Steam, you will only be able to send in-game mail to other PC players who own Borderlands 3 on the same storefront as you. We plan to patch in support for in-game mail being sent between the Steam and Epic platforms in the near future.
...
If you're transferring an existing Epic Save file to your Steam account, be aware that you will not immediately receive Steam Achievements you may have already earned with that save file. Certain Steam Achievements may still be earned on that character based on completing the requisite criteria again, but at this time, we can't guarantee that Steam will register these Achievements consistently.

Something really interesting that the game designers at Valve in the video talked about is how different players are playing through a VR game compared to a flat screen game. Players are going through the areas/levels in VR games slower than in flat screen gaming.

Also, the gravity gloves pull is interactable apparently, as in, you don't press a button on your motion controller to gravity grab something, it's done via hand gesture.

I did not know that at all and if it's truly how it works it shows that there are a lot of gameplay parts in the game that won't be known or viewed by YT viewers.
