So, I feel that I've missed something. Why would the leaking of the source code of a game lead to people stopping or avoiding playing it? Fear of hackers and exploits?
The only reason some people feared something could go awry was due to someone/some group spreading false information regarding a specific exploit.

This usually doesn't happen when source code is leaked.

Works fine here. Just tested it.
I don't have a yearly sub, but my September Bundles are showing up (3 of them)
I have a yearly sub and all my Septembers are right where whey should be.
Thanks to all for your confirmation. (y)
Weird, for me, none of the September bundles show up, in none of the 4 years. I still have my confirmation emails, and following the links, I can reach the pages to two of the years, but for two of the years, the links are not working, since Humble changed their website in the meantime.

I wonder what the problem may be?
I dropped a message to their customer service, and hopefully they'll be able to fix this.

Fans of old-school shmups, I have some great news!

Remember when I recently mentioned CITY CONNECTION would be releasing an enhanced port of STRIKERS 1945?

Which, by the way, will cost $9,99, with a 10% launch discount, and will have additional modes over the recent Switch port, according to the following press release:

Well, they just announced 9+ more are coming soon!!!

The titles mentioned in the press release I linked to above are:

Samurai Aces
Samurai Aces Episode II: TENGAI
Samurai Aces Episode III: SENGOKU CANNON
GUNBIRD
GUNBIRD 2
STRIKERS 1945 II
STRIKERS 1945 III
SOL DIVIDE -SWORD OF DARKNESS-
Dragon Blaze
and more

Here's a few screenshots from the upcoming titles:

If you like the genre, do consider picking them up, to show there's interest in PC/Steam ports of older shmups. :cat-heart-blob:
Welp, that was fast!

Yeah, I have their releases of that, and SOL DIVIDE. :giggle:

It will be nice to finally have proper ports.

Speaking of GUNBIRD, here's one of the screenshots from the Steam store page:

Another company, Console Classics, released some titles on Steam a few years ago (mostly PS1 titles) and they were basically ROMs with a wrapper.

Their version was the localized console version, released as Mobile Light Force, which had several changes to the game.

This release, along with SOL DIVIDE, and a pool game, were removed from Steam.

---

That Humble link is for this older, crappy release.

If you are interested in owning that release (and SOL DIVIDE) for collector purposes, since they were removed from Steam, Humble is still selling them.
If you are just interested in the games, skip those, since they were really crappy, and SOL DIVIDE is also getting a new, proper port on Steam soon.

Have you ever heard of Unheard ? Stumbled across during winter sales on Steam (got it for 1,24€), that was a nice experience.

You need to understand spoken english to enjoy it but the concept is good.

It's from China, but you don't need mask and gloves, just headphones :p

My review in French : Unheard - DYSTOPEEK

And also in French, the last issue of my Newspeek, weekly review of new released and upcoming games : Newspeek #19 - L'actualité du jeu vidéo - DYSTOPEEK

I'll be honest, if you take away all the SMT stuff, the only ones I'd call amazing are the aforementioned Shadow Hearts games and FFXII.
Atlus truly delivered though, Nocturne in particular is an absolute masterpiece and then you have the DDS duology, Persona 3&4 and the Raidou games.

I really liked the first Ar Tonelico but couldn't get into AT2 for some reason.
I really can't agree with this. I don't think any SMT game would even enter my top 5 on PS2. I've ranted about Persona 3 and 4 (and 5) enough already, but even SMT3 is vastly overrated in my opinion.

Part of its claim to fame is its combat system, but that is actually dominated by 2 aspects: knowing enemy weaknesses (which is a pretty degenerate game loop when you have too much repetition in encounters and such a massive impact from it) and a rather severe dependence on luck of the draw.
Compare that to something like Dragon Quarter, which has one of the very best tactical combat systems ever in a JRPG -- based on situational awareness creating huge variety in combat scenarios and opportunities for player expression through strategy -- and combines it with smart design disincentivising grind.

The entire Suikoden series deserves much more love than it gets. 1 &2 are the poster children, but 5 is actually just as good and frequently better.

Suikoden V, a fine PS2 JRPG, deserves a revival. That game is great and underappreciated.

And every game in the series deserves to be on PC. Even 4 and Tactics which are the worst games in there.
Absolutely! The one thing holding back V is its very slow start, but other than that it's easily one of my favourite Suikodens (together with 2).

I don't care much for most of the PS2 oldies but Suikoden really comes up a lot and if it ever came to PC, I'd love to give it a shot.
Honestly, given the current state of Konami, don't wait.
Everyone even remotely interested in JRPGs should at least play Suikoden 2. It's one of the all-time greats. Just fire it up in RetroArch.

Hmm, I should play the Suîkoden series, only played 1 at the time.
But I still have a bone to pick with it. It seems it is one of those guide seller rpg with tons of secrets and alternate endings.
I finished 1, and it wasn’t bad at all, one character died and this death I think added to the gravita. Then years later I learn that if I had collected the 108 (?) stars from my ass, the character wouldn’t have died.
Forgetting the fact that the ending may or may not be as good, I conclude that I should look for every MF in every game. So logically, that means a walkthrough. And I don’t want to follow a walkthrough for a jrpg these days.

Maybe if there are character unlock guide only...

I started playing

recently and I quite like it. No clue about the metagame yet so it's the best phase for me. Once I figure out what's what card games always lose their luster for me.

There will be a campaign mode added in May.
I don't mind if it is a short campaign and not very lengthy but it'll hold me until Artifact 2.0 XP

That is a problem for me too. I prefer being able to play the game blind and not loose good endings to some bullshit, especially like that. Is it really bad for the Suikoden series?

Normally we'd be pushing those "games developed in N countries" numbers for Valve, but not actually since we launched in the same month as Ori ;)

Hmm, what was the name of the FF7 steam retranslation mod ?
With all your Suikoden this, Suikoden that, I'm in a retro mood (yeah, interested in Suikoden too, evidently) :drinking-blob:

Well, I just took a peek at gamefaqs, and the good news is that there seem to be multiple character recruitment guides. The even better news is that one of them looks to be sane enough to sort the list not by the character star number but fucking chronologically.

IIRC it's not nearly as bad as e.g. Trails in the Sky, since the amount of permanent missables is comparatively very low. As in, for Suikoden 2, there are 1-page (mostly) spoiler-free guides that tell you when to pay attention.

I think I read yesterday that WD Legion is now a next gen debut title. Now the 2020 question is, when is next gen ? :sweaty-blob:

It disappoints me greatly that, after a short period of English online presence, and an interest in releasing more titles on PC and consoles outside of Japan, Experience Inc.'s titles seem, more than ever, stuck in Japan.

I'm not sure how their finances are either, considering their last released game bombed in Japan, and they resorted to crowdfund the third entry in the Spirit Hunter series.

Their upcoming titles look awesome, for those who enjoy the genre, and I wish someone would just partner up with them, to translate and port their titles.
More and more smaller Japanese companies have been self-publishing their games on Steam (like INTI CREATES, that has released 5 games on Steam in the space of 10 months), I wish they would do the same.

These genres are a "niche", and never get many sales, but those who do enjoy them are very loyal, in terms of reliably purchasing the games, so there's always a certain amount of sales you can count on.
On the PC, at least they would get longer term sales, since the titles wouldn't be unavailable after a few years.
More and more smaller Japanese companies are realizing it, but unfortunately certain companies, like Experience Inc., Cave, Treasure, and more, still resist coming on board. :confounded-face:

Experience Inc.'s next game, Yomi Wo Saku Hana, announced for all platforms (except PC of course, the platform where they started; heck, they are even releasing it on the Xbox One, in Japan!!!), looks really interesting:

Today I customized a custom steam game steam entry in order to directly launch Drakengard on PCSX2 in fullscreen nogui and scanlines.
Then I had to create an icon for it, the proposition being understandably nonexistent.
I want to thank my parents, PCSX2 wiki, steamgrid, icoconvert, and last but not least Kvik

Now excuse me while I cry for some minutes.

Now excuse me while I cry for some minutes.
You know, there used to be an open-source project whose primary function is to automate all that excruciating exercises you just did.

Sadly, it's not being actively developed anymore and it's now largely incompatible with the recent Steam Desktop client update. The shortcuts are being generated of course, but you'll have to edit the banner assets, icon assets etc. in the client manually.

Well, you seem to judge the games mainly based on the battle system, that's not the case for me.

Without spoiling anything, how many "routes" do you need to finish to get the real ending of Nier: Automata?

For what it's worth, I just finished Route A and the story made absolutely zero sense so am kinda wondering how long it takes to get some sort of closure or explanation.

Not really, I mean my favourite game of all time is Planescape: Torment :p

Just in the case of SMT3 it seems like people often refer to its battle system as one of its primary strengths, or at least that's what I remember.
