posted a tweet above .... not sure what to think :-D

  • nice to see Red Faction coming back to Volition's paent
  • Second Sight was FreeRadical game which is now under Deep Silver as Dambuster ... but i guess they will rather do Homefront or Timesplitters
  • great to see Sacred and Risen outside of DS's claws though , especially looking at how Nordic revitalized TQ

Console players are busy jacking off to SSDs and 3d Audio
SSDs I sort of get why people would talk about, but what about the 3D audio?

What is the big deal about that? Or was that just "hype" that they sometimes create? Even if it was not "Intentional hype"

Sacred was my jam back in the day, I hope they release something that it's better than whatever Sacred 3 was.

Watching PSVR without Parole (PSVR focused VR channel) live streaming Saints & Sinners. The reactions the dude has to Alyx/Boneworks similiar physics is really funny. It's not Boneworks/Alyx levels, but it's the furthest for a PSVR game. Seems like PSVR players jaws are dropping when playing the game. So it's really nice seeing PSVR folks reaction to VR physics interactivity.

Have yet to buy Saints & Sinners, but hoping for a sale on Steam soon.

I think there's an increasing desire for "Categories" or something in the Wishlist or two lists, a Wishlist and a Bookmark list. I treat my wishlist as bookmarks rather than a commitment to purchase ~80% of the time.

I refer to sacred 3 as 'The 2014 Sacred game'
As a sequel to citadel i thonk it is ok but it is def. Not what sacred fans want from the seris.

Was Microprose a developer in the day? I was not good at following devs vs publishers back in those days...

That Second Front dev seems kinda middling quality and the visuals really pale to the excellent Panzer Corps 2 which I’m currently playing... feel like these guys got beaten to the punch on the full 3D war game...

Probably a lot of factors at play, but my two cents as a huge Metroidvania fan: there's too many of them, controversial, I know.

But the reason why it's not that attractive in a sea of them is first impressions:
  • The name is just shit. Sounds like a crappy mobile game.
  • The mascot is not cute nor particularly striking. There's a reason why so many anime girls are selling games, Steam is weeb central for indies with no budget.
  • The gameplay videos show an extremely floaty and unresponsive gameplay, if you take hints from Dark ouls and the like, better make sure combat has some impact.
  • In the same vein, the floating/rolling/bouncing aspect is not even remotely attractive to me, and that's the reason why iti's not even in my wishlist. I hate those alternative locomotion controls, even in Ori 2 which is great I can only puke on their slingshot mechanics. And the presentation and price (with GamePass) can't be compared to random indie +25496 of the year.

After that, it's from an unknown developer, the weird -17% promo is odd, etc, etc.
But for me, at first glance it's not a potentially good Metroidvania, it's another cheap indie game with an ugly character, and the gameplay seems obnoxious. Doesn't mean I will never play it, but if ten second on the store page makes me say "meh", it's not a good sign.
And note that it's pretty much entirely because it has the Metroidvania tag, otherwise I would have already put it in my inner "indie sidescroller" folder, the one that my brain delete in five minutes.

low-G Yes, Microprose were a developer back in the 80s & 90s. They started as developers of Sims and moved into publishing as well later on. they were founded by Bill Stealy and Sid Meier. Later bought out/merged with Spectrum Holobyte.
I don’t assume the original devs are involved in this publisher deal and this is more of an Atari situation in 2020?

Heh. I've got F2P titles Wishlisted just so I'll remember to get around to them sometime when there's a lull or an open window.

While I primarily do purchase off of my Wishlist, more often than not that's further down the road after a title has been patched up and/or discounted.

I need to replace my broken monitor.

Any suggestions for a good monitor for gaming, that costs less than 200€ (1980x1080)?

Anyone familiar with this monitor (I've seen some decent reviews, and it fits my price-tag needs):

So it's not as big a deal as it might seem?
depends , ultimately its just internal reshuffle between subsidiaries of Embracer group .
You have to look ar how both Nordic and DeepSilver/Koch operates and what studios each of them has.

So lets look at this by IP: (my opinions)
  • Painkiller to Koch => could be cool , DS has more FPS and FPS capable studios or connections
  • Red Faction to Koch => good news, Volition is subsidiary of DS and now they gonna have direct access of their old IP
  • Sacred to Nordic => great nows looking at how Nordic handles Titan Quest IP and if you remember how DS fucked over this IP
  • Risen to Nordic => great news becazse Piranhas are now subsidiary of Nordic alongside Gothic and Elex IP , so just completing their portfolio under single roof
  • Rush to Berlin to Nordic => this might be ideal candidate for remaster or at least rerelease , which are Nodic better at
  • Second Sight to Nordic => this one confuses me , Its ex FreeRadiacal IP and these devs are now under DS as Dambuster ... might be just clearing the IP for rerelease while Dambuster works with S. Ellis on Timesplitters project
  • Singles to Nordic => i guess dont really fit the DS portfolio

I've been using variants of this monitor for more than 5 years now I guess? Using a pair right now.

It's not exciting, but it's problem free and not expensive.

This is interesting. Or, at least it's interesting for me.

I got my 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ (what a name), and upon connecting it to my PC with Bluetooth (which worked immediately and without issues) it was also immediately detected by Steam as a Switch Pro controller (which is what matches it most closely, layout-wise, so that's also nice).

Now the interesting part is this:

Who is "Ven OZ", and why is my controller registered with that account?

Maybe the registration is done via macadress and this user owned that pad prior to you?

That would make sense if it wasn't factory new -- and I'm really rather certain it is, that "factory new plastic" smell is hard to fake, all the packaging seemed new (including the protective film so that the glossy buttons are sufficiently glossy :p), and it's from an official 8bitdo reseller.

Funny you should mention it, since my temporary monitor (it's not mine, it's from the company I work for) is a similar one, it's a Samsung s24d33h.

Do you want something that big? (31.5" is a lot of monitor for any resolution, but especially for 1080p)

For <200€ you can already get some really nice stuff if you stick to 1080p and a moderate size, like this 144 Hz VRR IPS panel:
I have a need for a decent size monitor, for work, but you're right, I was thinking of TVs, and going for a lot of inches. :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Yeah, I guess 24" is fine.

I'm unfamilar with AOC. Are they any good?

The store I'll probably be using (since it's close by) doesn't have that monitor in stock.

They have, for my price-tag:

Is the first one any good?
It rotates (which is good for shmups), so that would be cool for me.

From LG, they have quite a few:

(...)

Any suggestions from those?
I'm really out of the loop when it comes to monitors... :giggle:[/QUOTE]

Rules? What do you mean by 'rules'? For the blitz. We sign up, enter 5 games in the google doc and try to complete them (usually complete campaigns) in the time limit and we joke and complain in the thread while we do so. And we have a draw when the quarter is over that some of us chip in for. No more to it than that

I really need to back the hell away from these threads on the other site.

They're so toxic yet I find myself drawn like a moth.

I just can't get over the tacky & wildly exaggerated "flex" going on now that new consoles are imminent.

It's my own damn fault for even engaging with it by opening the threads.

Why do I do this to myself, lol.

(Sidenote, I absolute to love & appreciate the new feature where you can Ignore threads without even opening them. Brilliant.)

I just want more flexibility for the wishlist. I have mine roughly sorted, but it takes lots of work: my first 20~ or so games are upcoming releases I am going to buy day 1 definitely or after good initial word of mouth, the next 20-30 are older games I am waiting the next big sale for the purchase. After that it I try to sort by genre, but with 400 games it is not easy and to find a game you don't remember the exact name is impossible...

Do you mean to tell me you're not excited to come home from work every day to play games your ... work monitor?
Oh, everything's a blur right now, since I have been working for over a month from home, so I don't particularly care... :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

I mean, my home monitor was for private use and gaming.
Now, I'm working from home, so the same monitor I was using for gaming, I was now using to see numbers and charts everywhere, all day. :)

Now, since today, I'm still working (and hopefully gaming) on the same monitor. And, with increased resolution! (the old was one 1680x1050)
The only problem is the work monitor... isn't mine. :disappointed-face:
