People talking about SAO?

That show is my guilty pleasure. I love hate-watching it. Don't tell anyone - just between you and me.
I unironically loved that show. Haven't caught up with the later seasons though.

My Freesync monitor somehow prevents Windows from letting the monitor go to sleep.
It's always the same thing. After the set amount of minutes before the monitor should go to sleep, the monitor powers down and becomes black. A few seconds later it turns itself on, and the cycle continues... Haven't managed to find a solution yet and googling the error doesn't provide any good solutions either...

And I think I had the same issue with my old computer (same monitor) as well, so it must be the monitor.

Could it be the crappy speakers built into the monitor? Or the USB hub also built in?

How is it ?
First impressions are strong.

Anime-influence XCOM, but with Final Fantasy Tactics-style RPG character progression, and an almost visual novel type story about a civilian militia of superhero punk rock kids called Troubleshooters.

Systems looks staggeringly deep with hundreds of Mastery buffs you can equip your character with. Lots of D:OS environmental unit placement for elemental synergy. Graphics are AA nice with varied maps and good cut scene stills art. Appropriately cheeseball hair metal and smooth jazz music style (among others). Translation is rusty but not impenetrable. Story looks like it could go places.

Too early for a concrete analysis, but I like what I'm seeing so far. Has a lot of personality and verve.

Wow, they casually doubled the regional pricing here last week, real fucking classy.
Went up by a lot here too :surrenderblob:

Looks like people were using alt-VPNs to purchase cheap keys outside their country of origin and the dev had to move fast to stem the flood.

Didn't know this was a thing. Are there so many people that know this cheating method that the devs had to increase the regional prices?

apparently it's something a bit different:

When the purchase on their web-site are completed, the site manager requires a steam account and password along with their unique key disguised as a steam key. They ad their key is the original steam key, however, it's false. It's just a lie to reassure buyers. And then they connect to that buyer's account, change the country settings - We don't know this detailed process -, and they buy our game at a low price.

We know that if the buyer's bypass purchase caught by Steam, steam ban the buyer's account. However, we understand that the ban process is irregular and does not apply to 1 to 2 attempts. We're going to ask Steam again about this.

started Greedfall yesterday and it surprisingly runs pretty well on my machine. the only gripe ive had so far is the menu system....there is no dedicated map button which sucks and change equipment is awful too. it gives you two columns of gear but only lets you moved up and down one unless you switch party members and then switch back on the right column you want to work on. really bad system there.

So we have to suffer due to shady key sellers? Neat.
it's not even key sellers ... there are no keys to sell there ... they literally log into people's accounts, change their region and buy the game for them using their account

Yeah I should have put quotation marks on that "key seller".

Either way, regions that need the regional pricing paying the price for gringos wanting to save 10 bucks, news at 11, into the deep discount bin it goes.

I got annoyed by the equipment thing but found that on a controller left and right on the dpad will move between the columns and left and right on the thumb stick switches between characters. Though knowing this doesn't stop me from still switching between characters nearly every time when I'm 10 hours into the game.

For the map there's no individual button for it but holding down the menu button instead of just pressing it will take to right to the map.

The Paradox sale reminded me that I wanted to pick up Planetfall since launch but never did. Is it worth it?
I'm personally (so, it's worth zilch, eh) very wary of strategy games that have playable combats. It really didn't gel with me on Endless Legend or Total Warhammer 1.
I personally have put about 5-6 hours in and disliked almost all of it. The UI is convoluted to hide a pretty shallow strategy layer, 95% of your time will be the combat. Which is OK but pretty boring compared to a real tactics game like X-Com or FFT. The combat auto-resolve is also completely broken as you will lose fights where you have a 6v2 advantage or have than 5x the enemy army power so you HAVE to play out every fight, or save before each auto-resolve to see if it works for that one.

I kept trying to dig in and like it but I really couldn't find much redeeming about it. I'd rather just play AoW 3 or really any 4x in my library. I recently gave up and am just going to consider it a loss.

Oh well in that case they should still keep the price the same, if anything the whole thing is a risk to the "buyer" anyway and I doubt that a lot of people would be doing that anyway.

Weeeeell, from my perspective people are either using throwaway accounts for one game or Valve doesn't do much about it, considering the number of people buying games like that (or just buying accounts with one game bought via VPN) on my regional Ebay equivalent.

Seems like Windows 10's May 12th update (KB4556799) is having issues with some users, between BSODs, audio issues, getting stuck with a temporary user profile and more. For those that have the option to defer windows update for X days (not sure if Home users have that or not, since I have the Pro version), I recommend using those options (in Win 10 Pro there's options to defer feature updates and quality updates, this one is considered a quality one).

Can I buy cards/packs in the Beta?
We have some ideas about what we’d like to sell, but none of them are cards/packs.
Thanks, Riot.

They do not have to, so whatever they do is fine with me.
Of course they don't have to legally but I'd say they absolutely do have an obligation to the people who spent money when they are going to nullify the value of the cards

I was able to get the Death Stranding PC Physical Copy after all it it only cost me $49USD!!!!!!

I still have the digital copy on pre-order and I will likely end up refunding that after pre-loading the game and playing a bit of the beginning.

What sucks though is that according to Best Buy I will not be getting my physical copy until about a week after it releases on PC.

It's a good thing that pre-ordered went up today since my $25 Best Buy gift thing expires in a few days.

Good stuff

Earlier this month, I reported Nintendo isn’t planning a Direct for June. As an update to that, I’ll add that Nintendo isn’t planning a Direct at all for now. It’s telling development partners not to wait for a Direct even if they have a big announcement.

As for first-party games, expect Nintendo to repeat its Paper Mario: The Origami King strategy. Surprise trailer drops out of nowhere can still build a lot of excitement. The company also doesn’t have to worry about meeting expectations if you don’t know something is coming.

And what’s coming is Pikmin 3 Deluxe, 3D Mario remasters, and Super Mario 3D World Deluxe. It could have some surprises beyond that, but it may wait for those until it can start doing Directs again.

Super boring year for Switch apparently. I already own Pikmin 3, 3D Mario games and Mario 3D World. Also not getting the Xenoblade Remake coming this month as I played and finished the Wii verison (on my Wii U) around 1 year ago, so no interest in playing it right now.

So until further, the only game I have bought form my Switch so far this year is Animal Crossing. 1 damn game.

I didn't even get Animal Crossing! I'll probably get Xenoblade Remaster this month but with being stuck inside all the time and not having to travel for work like usual, I'm playing a lot less Switch lately (except Ring Fit) and just playing PC more.

True. The folks in my regional community are having multiple accounts to buy games cheap in other regions.

This shit needs to be addressed sooner than later.

New trailer on character creation, exploration, and combat. Combat kinda reminds me of Original Sin, but with much emphasize on verticality.

The game is shaping up nicely.

I really like what I am seeing, but is it alright for them to lift so much from D&D?

Wizards of the Coast granted Tactical Adventures a license to use the Dungeons and Dragons SRD 5.1 Ruleset, further anchoring our will to make the most faithful video game adaptation with the Tabletop Ruleset and craft the game you are hoping for!
