Anyone else having aliasing issues in the movies of P4G? Game itself is fine. AA is activated in the settings.

A next gen. game is loading in extra details at roughly the same distance as current gen. games?
Is this person saying that despite an ultra fast link between storage and CPU/GPU you can still run into other bottlenecks? Like GPU performance?
Maybe I should reconsider my plans to buy a gen 4 NVMe to increase the grass draw distance in Witcher 3.

/s

On a serious note: Is Sony overselling their storage implementation to not make people talk about raw GPU tflops and CPU clocks, because their competition has the more powerful product in that regard? That's a big part of their current PR in my opinion.
But dismissing it as something entirely worthless is also completely wrong.

I believe we will have to adept NVMe(s) at one point in 2021. Or dramatically increase the amount of RAM in our systems. Because DDR4, even at JEDEC 2133 specs is able to push roughly 17GB/s? And now comes my crazy layman idea: RAM could act as some kind of buffer between slower storage and the rest of the system? (I believe to know that, that's in part the intend use of RAM from the beginning)
Problem here: You'd need a lot more than the common 8GB now.

Are you talking about block like artifacts? The cutscenes are prerendered movies coming from the original version. Durante talked and complained a bit about it in his article. It is as it is. :shrugblob:

Stupid question but, without the source movies in better res, there is nothing one can do about the quality ?
Re-encoding or some other magical shit ? (I'm stupid) ((oh, I already said it, I'm really the worst))

So, I've been thinking about the lack of Yakuza at the PC Gaming Show and now I'm wondering if they're holding off until the Microsoft thing so they can announce Xbox+PC at the same time. I really hope they're not holding back the PC releases just because of the Xbox ones, though, because it's been over a year since Kiwami 2's PC release and it's not even out on Xbox yet...
Other than Yakuza Like a Dragon, I'm guessing that they may be working on releasing Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 at the same time, and since that's 3 games that they have to port, it's normal that it's taking longer to arrive.

You are asking the wrong person, but Durante suggests AI up scaling for those kind of situations in his article.

BTW, I remember somebody doing a short sequence for Babylon 5 (manually, frame by frame) and the results were quiet okay (remastered footage is at 0:18)

Yeah, that's what I'm wondering. Now in practice, the game having Denuvo means all of that is maybe nil, but in theory, what could a dedicated modder do ?
Could we see the same type of things we sometimes see in movies (Star Wars fan something edition) ?

I have no idea how or where the movies are stored or what files are encrypted with Denuvo. Maybe they are part of some kind of library that can be accessed and things can be exchanged? As said, I'm absolutely the wrong person to ask.

I really liked it but interest puttered out after a while. I'd still recommend it you like the idea of a wholesome family battling strange things in a strange land :).

Roguelike aspects were mostly level progression and each character had bonuses you get across the board past certain thresholds. It was honestly okay but the gameplay was a little simplistic. Pixel animation was amazing though!

According to that page the PC data is in the PAC files which are archives in the Hyperdimension Netunia format. I'd expect some modding tools to be updated for the PC release quite quickly.

Shouldn't the Hyperdimension Neptunia format be .nep files?

Someone already figured out how the movies are stored and extracted them. Denuvo generally doesn't prevent asset modding.
SOme people are talking about replacing the scenes with matching HD ones from the anime.

We completed it in local coop. The game is really "lite" on the rogue (which I appreciate). You only lose your progress in the current sub-dungeon (which is never that big). Your global progress through the dungeons, your level/xp and the currency you use for permanent upgrades are all saved,

playing the intro of Persona 4 again, I prefer the start of P3 to P4 and P5

What I like about the start of Persona 3 is, that you are not this superhuman being that has the power to summon Personas and is seen as a god by his peers right from the start like P4 and P5. You are just one of the new members of this secret organization who is a little special but still needs the help of his friends and mentors to navigate the shadow realm.

Played the Dreamscape demo. Meh to nice.
It's a room based action rogue like ala Hades (I imagine), and there are little time management and Persona-esque relationships, that obvs give bonuses.
Not convinced, the big issue is that I don't feel that the combat is good enough. And the little relationship vignettes seem to get sparse when you level up relationships, like instead of the little boring but charmed convo the game display something like level up and the item you unlocked.

The idea is good, the vignettes aren't bad, the issue is that the core is very meh. And fuck replaying the first dungeon every time you die.

I won't say it's bad, wait and see, but very cautious.

Seems like "not Bloodborne on PC" is becoming a meme. Like, if a dev/pub is asking people to wishlist a game, they say "sorry it's not Bloodborne on PC, but we want it on PC too" or if someone is not interested in a game, the dev/pub replies like

Now imagine if it hadn't leaked.
The wild thing is that the only reason it leaked is that the event moved (and therefore the release date).

If it had gone as originally planned it would truly have shadowdropped without even a credible hint. Think about the mayhem.

That's a good point. The party dynamics are the best by far in P4 though.

I also think I've figured out what's wrong with all 3 Persona games' pacing, and how they could relatively easily fix it. Might write about it in the P4G thread later.

I'm tempted to buy Catherine as a 'reward' of sort to Sega / Atlus, but with Full Body coming to Switch, that pill is a bit difficult to swallow.

I feel tempted to refund P4G and just get it cheaper from HB. Its a $5USD difference. I would basically be getting the Deluxe Edition stuff for free. But then again ATLUS gets more money?

Also my review thing won't have a key...

I'm trying to out weight the pros and cons.

Yeah, P4 has both P5 and P3 beat it there.
Another thing I am nostalgic for in P3 is the immersion and wish fulfillment, who didn't think how cool it would be to live in that dorm.

Berseria only 6$ on PSN. I don't think its ever been below 12$ during steam sales so hopefully Bamco matches that price for summer sale.

PS base price is 20 vs 50 on steam tho

------

There was hype surrounding the event.

Had they done it like Yakuza that would have been great. The confirmation stuff was nice but did kill some of the joy and also when the game released before the event started.

Oh well.

Tim's idea of getting people to notice EGS
Timed exclusive, giving games for free, and paying ng money to advertise these free game giveaways
Valve doesn't do much
P4G releases
Profit without having to give stuff away for free and have people advertise the game for free

The original is better anyway. The Full Body content hurts the game.

Same song and dance with DQ11. I still haven't bought or played it, and wouldn't want to buy the Switch version if there is a possibility of an update to the PC version. Though I'm really doubtful about that one.
Did someone hear whispers going in that direction ?

I may even buy the PC version anyways, not that the graphics are everything but I'm not sure I care that much about side stories.

I would say mostly that the dungeons and the time management are too distanced from each other, having a big chunk of one and then a big chunk of the other instead of having the two more interspliced

Yeah, that's exactly it.

More precisely, the major, primary gameplay loop and challenge in the game is time management. You against the calendar.
Which in turn means that any player who wants to "succeed" at the game wants to maximize their time efficiency. Since dungeon visits take up in-game time, that means that you are incentivized by the core game mechanics to make your dungeon visits as long (and therefore few) as possible. In other words, the game mechanics actively reward you for making your own pacing and experience worse.
You can see that in terms of story and a few mechanics, this was not at all the intention. The game's story actually wants you to chip away at the dungeons over a longer time period, which would also result in more interesting and varied pacing.

I see at least two simple ways to overcome this, and neither of them really seem all that hard to implement:
  • Make dungeon visits "free" in terms of time. There's a supernatural element there anyway, so story-wise it's not an issue. And it also doesn't really change the challenge in a practical way. It just removes the major incentive for self-made bad pacing.
  • Introduce more obstacles in the dungeons which relate back and forth with real-world events. The previous option is more about removing the pull factor making people do extremely long dungeon visits, will this one actively forces them to do more individual ones.

I've seen this opinion a lot. What's wrong with full body?
The new content doesn't add anything. The story was compete without it. The scenes with Rin feel like bolt-ons rather than being important to the plot.

There are definitely some gameplay enhancements to Full Body, no doubt, but the game feels diminished in the story sections.

But hell, I'm already playing Enderal and Final Fantasy 12 and there's a Steam seal in like 2 weeks where I planned on picking up some Atelier and :grimacing-face:
I am facing the same problem. Currently playing Tokyo Mirage Session and Dead Cells on Switch, as well as Supraland on PC. Counting down to Hardspace: Shipbreaker on 16th and the upcoming summer sale where I plan to grab Deep Rock Galactic and other stuff... In no way I should start a long-ass JRPG now, but an irl friend just gifted the game to me🤣

I think the most that they said was that they had not completely ruled out the option. Which many viewed as being the polite version of saying it will not be an update to the PS4 or PC versions of the game.

Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing.

The hype was real.
Does Persona games have individual stories or is it good to play all of the first games before?

For P3 going forward they are individual stories but they do have spin offs.

As for before P3 those do connect.

SMT If... leads to P1, P2 follows P1 and there are call backs to P1 from P2. So if you went from P2 to P1 something would get spoiled for you. As for the P2 dualaolgy those are connected.

For SMT If... The female MC is a side character in P1 and P2 games.

As for story plot stuff, those are very different. Especially stuff involving Igor. Since the series did this thing with "shadows" while in the previous games you were fighting demons and there were devil summoners as well but those guys aren't in P3-p5. And I think that there was a special name that they have for Persona users but I can't recall what they called them though. I think they were called death summoners or something like that?

Yay fixed the sound problem I was having! Seems I can't have the game in the default steam folder or drive. If I have the game on an external drive it works. Yay now I have sound... but now I have to run it from a slow ass external drive haha!
That's a bizarre problem and a solution.

On the topic of more Yakuza on PC, I'm not an expert on gamedev and porting but if we're going by that Lab42 rumor then they only started working on it in January. Considering it's been only 6 months and most of that time was probably WFH, it seems like it's a little too soon to announce it?

You don't want to reward a company for releasing a game, especially one which crashes whenever people attempt to stream it.

If you are actually interested in playing the game, it is another story.
