I went on several rants about my problems with DOOM Eternal when it came out that are echoed here, I was at least able to get my refund since they were glaring at me right from minute one.

There are mods for it, including this one on Nexus which looks like it would fix the ammo problem (to some extent), but really that was only one of the issues I had with it (the biggest, but still). I was thinking I might pick up Eternal when mods could "fix it" and it was super cheap but honestly don't feel like it's worth the trouble, I think the fact that it launched with an unusable rune and essentially no settings for anything gameplay related is sign enough that it was not well designed from the ground up. The whole metroidvania stuff also felt utterly tacked on and bland, and I say that as someone who at one point had beaten every metroidvania on Steam.

Maybe in a few more months more people will agree with me about Half-life: Alyx being 80% bad, too :p

I really wish there were more good, interesting FPS single player games coming out like HL2, Titanfall 2, Singularity, etc. Even Doom 2016 was pretty good after the first couple levels.

Never thought that Craftopia will be that popular.

I think that saturation will likely kick In at some point. Also because of how they are a part of a talent agency I would imagine that the actual VTubers only get a small part of that money (unless Bilibili was "generous" or something)
They get about 30-35% after Youtube cut, agency cut, and Japan tax. Still a fucking lot.
I wonder if for some of the current VTubers the same thing that happened with A I will happen to them (getting replaced since they don't own their characters). And other VTUbers have had to retire for other stuff. I guess it comes down to the contract really
Some of them own their own character and can keep it after they retire but ultimately it depend on the contract.

Almost a week later, Craftopia triumphs over Avengers.

Craftopia manages to hold onto its players while attracts new players at the same time. Meanwhile, Avengers keeps losing players on daily basis.

Your precious waifus are to blame. Also what if it turned out that half of that 27k were people from Japan alone? I mean you never know and things are changing bit by bit over there.

Also if VTubers ever go extinct I will tell you all that I told you so /s

Also the JPN version sounds kind of meh

The English version sounds a lot better (nicer sounding vocals) and I am going to guess that he lyrics vary a bit?

The one section that stands out a lot is the second half of the song with all the energy.

Also I have a spending problem, I keep buying Figmas and Nendoroids (mainly Nendroids since I keep finding some for around $30USD!!!!!!)

Speaking of Craftopia I wonder if we will see more Japanese Early Access titles, there have been a number of them and they did eventually leave early access and some of them even ended up getting released on consoles after.

Some of the Hololive girls are doing collab stream of Craftopia and last time they gathered about 50K viewers, so I reckon the game is quite popular in Japan.

I feel like every time I write a serious review nobody sees it and I end up deleting it.

I wrote a review for a F2P game that I played in closed beta before it came to Steam and literally just said “It used to be good but now its pay to win” and it got 1600 likes somehow and nothing I write seriously will come close to that.
My most popular is a negative one as well!

honestly - i'm not interested anymore ...

i'm not going to buy a game that's been exclusive everywhere for almost 2 years (and that's just on PC ... i'm not even counting the PS4 exclusivity) .... they can keep it
While I get why are you feeling that way, I'm still getting it cause' it's a game I want to play no matter what, if that means waiting 340 more days, so be it, I have waited l

Well this sucks.
First eggs, and then Oculus Exclusivity. This one game I REALLY want to have.

Dammit man, 2021 it is now 😞
Patience is for the winners :dualbladesblob:

lmfao. Tim got 2 for the price of 1.
I don't think I get this joke at this very moment lol:blobclosecry:

I know this game is on EGS, and I oppose it, but I had to try spellbreak again.

Anybody playing it?

I tried it on switch and yeah it runs okay but they sacrificed a lot.

But the app and the backend still sucks.

Im still good to summer 2022, there was a deep sale or price error on 6 months of game pass in december 2020 which I took advatage off which made me sub to summer 2022.

However, the sub is not worth it with the lack of games compared to console game pass and the amount of problems the app and backend has given me.

And after all, lack of ownership is still a huge issue for me as I want to play games at my own pace.

I assume this is a remaster? It's different publisher, so if it's a remaster then I guess there will be no loyalty discount for previous owners
Yeah, it is a enhanced port.

Publisher is also changed to Nicalis from Degica.
New information for NieR Remake, NieR Reincarnation and even NieR Automata?!

Switch port for Automata, I guess.

As of earlier this year, the Kizuna AI project was split into its own company, the original VA has an advisor role in this new company and she's now the sole VA for the character.

Re: Gamepass
As I suppose the service won’t suddenly support DS4 once out of ‘beta’, I’m out.

Re: Doom 2020
I fucking played through the whole game while semi hating it. Even with my OCD and FOMO, I didn’t take one single look at the DLC.

Finished the first Control DLC yesterday.

They are trying to implement two new gameplay mechanics with a power and a weapon upgrade (so to speak) but than they don't ask you to do anything creative or exciting with them. While the new power has some kind of use in combat, the weapon upgrade is only there to make blocked corridors accessible and to get a couple of redundant, unexciting upgrades that were previously unreachable. It's practically a key.
Story lacked the feeling of exploring a big mystery. But it had some interesting moments about the connection between the agency, the board, how things came to be and Jesse, unfortunately without huge revelations.
Level design felt okay, though there are many repetitive corridors and caves, followed by bigger caves and more corridors. At least some visual high lights, made it into the DLC. Still no puzzles that deserve to be called that way though and the final boss fight was designed in an hour, maybe less. What a tragedy to end a DLC in a game about paranormal powers and multidimensional horror that way.

You have to fully embrace the setting Remedy! Go into full creative mode. You did it a couple of times in the main game.

I hope the second DLC is going to be better. I also really want to see Bright Falls in Ray Tracing.

Looks like they've touched up the in-game models which is definitely an upgrade from the badly scaled models lifted straight from the 3DS game.

On the other hand, it's published by Nicalis. :dana_tense:
Nicalis publishing it is a major reason to avoid it

With Doom 2016, a lot of people complained that fights felt too samey. And they really did. You dodged most enemies by doing the same thing (just never stop moving). Your weapon choice never mattered much, since all of the weapons were insanely strong and the chainsaw meant you had unlimited ammo for whichever you liked. Then, most fights just spawned in all of (or most of) the basic enemy types you'd already encountered, so fights never felt distinct, and it all blurred together.

Compare that to classic Doom: Enemies had distinct patterns that forced you to play differently. Weapons strength was balanced by ammo and how tough they were to use effectively. And level designers built levels with distinct sorts of fights to keep things feeling fresh.

It really feels like, in Doom Eternal, they tried to fix the sameyness problem of 2016 with brute force. The game still has most of the same problems. Enemies still require you to just constantly move to dodge them. They still throw a formless slurry of previously-encountered enemies into every arena. You can still get unlimited ammo for whatever gun you like by using the chainsaw. All of your high-end weapons are adequate for just about any situation, so there's no good reason to switch them up.

So the only reason to switch weapons is by using brute force to push the player to. You can't kill that enemy with the super shotgun, better switch to plasma! You could 1-shot that caco if you'd just switch to the grenade launcher! Whoops, you ran out of your tiny ammo store and your chainsaw is still on cooldown, better change weapons! It's like they decided that the lack of variety wasn't because Doom 2016 lacked good reasons to switch things up, but because players were just being obstinate. So they force them to change things up. Variety achieved!

I really disliked Doom Eternal, despite being a huge classic Doom fan and loving Doom 2016. If you're not enjoying it, I'd drop it. It doesn't improve.
You're quite right. And really, parts of Eternal I really enjoyed. I just wish the designer's hand had been less heavy. I enjoyed 2016 more than it in the end, but there was also another area in which the game failed : tone and humor. While 2016 was deliciously tongue in cheek and respected your intelligence, Eternal is simultaneously completely flanderized with that constant "haha, it doesn't make sense, Slayer go tearrrr" and on the nose jokes that are repeated way past the point of being funny, which they never were... And at the same time just throw the same thing the first game mocked at you in spades : obscure and uninteresting lore... And unskippable cutscenes.

I like a lot of Eternal's new mechanics, to be sure. But forcing the player to play to them isn't going to make them any more fun. It's actually transforming 2016's savage run and gun, which could get samey into something constantly anxious and nervous where you are under constant pressure about ammo in a game where you would rather be about shooting demons in the face. I liked the way the weapons functioned, I just think that this gimmick they found about the chainsaw/belch and making pick-up items spawn off monsters has been overused and pushed way past what it should have been. It was a cool idea in 2016, but it's not a good central mechanic for the game, not to this extent.

Shooting demons should be.
