Does BG3 not have local split screen? It has LAN...

Well you didn't provide an argument so...
I would be just saying what has already been saying. R* games are way cheaper if you're an American looking in here. As somebody who lives here, it is priced decently compared to buying power.

My buddy up north in Japan has to pay 65 lol.

No, I don't dispute the regional pricing is crazy and messed up. I just don't know the argument in favor of a 60$/€ Early Access release with 25 hours and a single chapter of content, along with a huge amount of bugs and issues. They are asking players to pay through the nose for the privilege of being "part of it" and "along with them for the ride".

It's a premium to beta test and I understand the hype of some people, but that pricing base line is exploitative of Larian in my opinion. I am very disappointed in them.

The only argument I can imagine is "they can price is whatever they want and if people buy it's on them". I would say this is factually true, but not a very good argument in defense of the fairness of that pricing given that people are historically bad at refraining from buying at overpriced markups and tend to screw things for everyone else.

I mean, it was covered enough before launch that the game was more like divinity and less like Baldur's Gate 2
Also, to be perfectly frank. I feel like the Divinity games are the rightful successor to old CRPGs like Baldur's Gate.

Sure, it's not real time with pause, but seeing how Divinity Original Sin 2 provided you with a complex world, that feels alive and reacts to any choice you make, and a set of companions with their own views and choices, who could even turn against you in the plot. That all feels to me like what Baldur's Gate was always aiming at as well. And Larian has actually managed to make the world feel much more reactive than the old Baldur's Gate games ever were.
well tbh DnD 5e would be really hard to do the RtWP way ... and its friggin 2020 it was never gonna be same game as BG2 20years ago ... which was on DnD 2e .... its like 2 decades of change in ruleset and not just that. , it was never gonna be clone of what BG2 did even without larian

And from what i saw of the early access i am not really seeing all that "BG3 is masked DoS3" zhing either , yes its same engine, yes there is ton of placeholders and yes it still has the elemental synergy stuff like DoS , but thats pretty much it ... for example the coversations are closer to what

Yeah I don't live in the US. When a R* game is cheaper by a big margin that is something. It isn't even Japanese! Japanese prices are so wide here lol.
I specifically said I was talking to people from countries who got the standard pricing (USD, EUR, GBP). Larian said weeks ago that the game will be $60, so they should've expected that. Countries with different currencies could obviously expect different prices than what they got, so I understand them.

Expected, yes. Agree to it, no. If they are entitled to price it like that, then we're entitled to disagree with and criticize it.

This is Larian, they've done EA before and they know people going through it are giving a lot of their time and contributing tremendous value to the game. Swen has even said that is the reason they are doing an EA phase. Yet for all this, they are charging people full price and also broke away not just from their own reasoning there, but also Early Access's in general.

It appears scummy, exploitative and greedy to me.

I'll stop ranting about this but the argument that we knew about this in advance will, I hope, not be used to make people shut up about it :p.

I was surprised by that price, because:
  • I did not know Larian announced a $60 price weeks ago,
  • I was expecting a price similar to the price of Divinity Original Sin 2, that is 45 €.
Unrelated, I have finished Fate of Kai (a game labelled Humble Original in the October Choice bundle). The game is decent and the mechanics enjoyable.

Fall 2021 is my guess. Does that sound too optimistic for you ? Have you heard anything from people in the know ? Aside from Metacouncil insiders I mean.

Days Gone would make a lot of sense on PC. Unreal 4 would mean a relatively cheap port as well.

Well they were upfront about it and I wasn't following the game and I live in Taiwan. I don't really read anything either, like what news should I read if I want to be update?

I knew all this.

So BG3 doesn't have local split screen coop? Or local coop in general? Just LAN?

Yes, so did I. That doesn't outdate any argument against it though.

Communicating about a bad pricing decision doesn't really have a virtue in itself other than the value it provides for Larian in giving people time to swallow the bitterness of it and pay come the asking day.

Not invalidating it but sure sounds like ignoring the openness about it.
Well, that's because it's a self-serving openness the way I see it. Planned damage control would be another term for it, perhaps overly cynical. It would be a shitstorm without it and they are already meeting a lot of backlash as it is. Announcing you are going to be charging people through the nose in advance for an Early Access release doesn't make it any better.

It has the apperance of communication and elicits those kickstarter days feeling of "we are communicating" which were good and had value because they updated us about the development of the game. Except here all it's doing is announcing something they know is going to be a hard sell and is rather unrelated to what openness is normally valued for.

Regional pricing is trash, they make prices 10-15% lower for the first several weeks to get some 'omg so good' followed by a big shaft to the poor guy who ends up paying $80. And lock everyone within their tiny regional ghetto - you stay here and don't wander too much.
I'd prefer global $50 or $40 and no shitty concentration camps they created.

For the record, you have heard of anything serious about Days Gone on PC ?

If you are allowed to say anything of course.

Thanks. :)
I don't have much info about Days Gone particularly, aside from that it's coming.

I do agree that the price for BG3 isn't quite fair, the entire idea of EA is that you get an unfinished, messy product for cheaper and that the cheaper price is offset by you acting as a playtester.

This is really just a case of they knew people would buy it anyways because of both Larian's and Baldurs Gate's pedigree

Much appreciated.

Someday in 2021 I guess. I can wait. The game really is not on my most wanted list but I could see myself grabbing it off the shelf for a good price.

Mor As you surely noticed, Baldurs Gate 3 got a banner on the store - but It seems like they made a separate banner for the mobile app this time around. Figured I'd let you know since you collect them :)

Yup, I noticed that too earlier today. On mobile, the banner is only showing the BG3 logo and the dark blue background.

Yup, totally noticed :cat-heart-blob::cat-heart-blob::cat-heart-blob:

And because I know you like my things, I also did a banner for Nier Replicant (which I think I already shared) and Y7 :cat-heart-blob::cat-heart-blob::cat-heart-blob:
