Lets take a look at some story rich games this time in "Discoveries in Discovery Queue"!

Across the Grooves

A VN set in a magic realism world where you can modify the past to change the present.

Alice lives an uneventful life. She’s in a long term relationship, has a stable office job and a nice apartment in the center of Bordeaux. One day, Ulysse, her ex-lover, comes back into her life through an old vinyl record she receives in the mail. When she puts it for a spin on turntable, she is thrown back into her own past, forced to relive old events. When she comes back to the present, her reality has changed.
Determined to bring her life back on track, Alice packs up and embarks on a hunt across Europe, following the tracks of Ulysse while trying to uncover the origins of the record. However, her journey gradually turns into a quest of self-discovery as she explores new parallel realities each time she puts the needle in the groove.

Space Court

Become a judge... in space! Encounter 5 alien races and make sure they follow space law and that their disagreements end in a good ruling

Congratulations on becoming Space Court’s newest Judge! A synopsis of your duties has been provided below:
Balance the concerns of representatives from 5 different alien species as you navigate your way through branching storylines in this dialogue-based Choose-Your-Own-Adventure
Collect friends or earn enemies with a Reputation System that shifts based on how you rule.
Revenge? Conquest? Galactic annihilation? Beguile your way toward truth and justice!

Will you keep the peace or let the galaxy crumble around you?
Thank you again for accepting this position with Space Court. Your sacrifice will always be remembered.
Welcome to Elk

Moving from a busy city life to a small town in an island should be boring, but not in this case with tons of interesting characters to meet and fun to have.

You play as Frigg, a young carpenter trading their busy life in the city for an apprenticeship in a small town. When she arrives in Elk, Frigg worries that the slower pace of life will be boring (they don’t even have the internet), but quickly discovers nothing could be further from the truth!

No Umbrellas Allowed

Buy and sell second hand objects while trying to figure out what you are doing in a weird town, without any prior memories of anything

In Ajik City, you're a total stranger. Because you were rescued few days ago at a beach losing everything, even your memories. The person who saved you is Darcy, who has been operating a 30-year-old one-and-only secondhand shop 'Darcy's' in the city. He has set you as a manager of his shop and gave you the name of his son, Bob.

However, the city seems odd. People don't seem to know how to reveal their thinkings or feelings, or maybe, they're hiding them. They all seem so obsessed, whether in a favorable manner or the opposite, with something called 'Fixerain'. And some people in dark uniforms are calling themselves civil activists, while everyone calls them police-mimickers.

Anyway, Let's Focus On Your Job Here.

Weird, the Two Point Hospital: SEGA 60th Items DLC is no longer available on Steam, with a note saying:
"Notice: At the request of the publisher, Two Point Hospital: SEGA 60th Items is no longer available for sale on Steam. "

It launches, and vanishes on the very same day?!

maybe a rights issue with art assets that turn out to be stolen? wouldn't be unprecedented

Steam has an Assassin's Creed franchise sale, but the new AC won't be on Steam. :thinking-blob:
I swear they have one every month. Been thinking about getting Origins for a year+, but every single time it's on sale something comes out about Ubisoft that makes me not want to give them any money.
___
It says I have the TPH complimentary items installed, but I haven't checked in game to see if they are there.

Just wait until a historical monument in whatever region Origins and Odyssey are based in blows up and they'll give them away for free to everyone

Well, I own Odyssey already. Bought it near launch, the ultimate edition or whatever it's called and have put 120 hours into it... and I'm only 60% done iirc. Haven't even touched the DLC I paid extra for.

Another reason I'm in no rush to buy more AC.

Thinking of picking up a NAS (Ideally supporting RAID 5), anyone have some legit and affordable recommendations?

I think they showed their revenue was down this year on PC for 2019 and all of their "new" stuff wasn't on steam for Ubisoft

New stuff being Division 2, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Anno 1800 (?), etc
Not to mention the stuff coming out in 2020 and beyond: Watchdogs Legion, Farcry BreakingBad, Assassins Creed Old White Guy Edition, Cupid Shoots Monsters Game, etc

No idea if that has anything to do with steam or not but whenever their shit goes on sale it shoots to the top of the sales list on steam so I mean I have no idea why they don't put their shit back on there besides "Well we like money, but we don't like all of the money"

The best thing that could happen with Ubisoft at this point is for Microsoft to buy them and fire everyone at the top.

Then proceed to kill Uplay and put the games on Steam + Gamepass.

Then make a new Grow Up/Home game with a 200 million dollar budget that BUD truly deserves....

I doubt Ubi would cost more than Bethesda too. Do it Satya.

Everyone thought it was soooo good that Ubisoft avoided a buyout from Vivendi but that would of probably caused a massive shakeup of the management and we would of found out about all the stuff sooner

Probably being the keyword since it's all just a wild assumption at this point but I don't see how it can be worse

I wonder if Steam still is the primary source of revenue for Ubisoft on PC, they back catalog is a better offer than their new stuff, specially for a person new to PC gaming.
Not primary but still an important one after the economical results of 2019.

They will probably come back once they can put Uplay+ on the system like EA with the access but yeah, every time they put their things on sale, top seller here we go. curiously enough, if the trend stays steady until Sunday, it will be the first time for Ubi in the top weekly seller chart since July's second week.

IGN gave Genshin Impact a 9/10.

Kinda surprising tbh, because the game actually has a lot of water. :evilblob:
Deserved. The game has been very good. I know in the OT we've been talking a lot about pulling certain characters, leaks for upcoming stuff and the "endgame" grind, but there's a full 50+ hour Action-RPG experience that doesn't require engaging with any of that.

The exploration is lots of fun, with something to find on every corner. It also rewards you for going off the beaten path a lot - in my experience, the more out of the way something is, the more work has been put into it. There's an island far away from the coast? There might be a secret quest there that requires solving some puzzles/riddles on your own. You see a ship anchoring somewhere far away? There just might be some small quest-lines and NPCs with interesting things to say over there. And so on. And the game does not nudge you towards these things on its own. You don't get a quest that requires you to get to an island, you go to an island, interact with something suspicious, and only then get a quest that there's a bigger riddle to solve here.

Talking about NPCs, they have been surprisingly good actually with well-written and interesting dialogue.
Some stand-outs that stuck with me:
In Mondstadt during the night, there's a guy collecting coins from a wishing fountain, because he needs all the money to finance his sisters treatment. During the day you find the sister around the fountain instead, telling you she's throwing coins into it and wishes to get cured and that she's so happy her brother always manages to gather enough money and help her. Oof.

In Liyue Harbor, there are 2 Fishmongers with stalls right beside each other. One of them is selling one fish for 300 coins, and 3 fishes for 1000 coins. (Yes, you can actually buy them for these exact prices, lol). When you ask him, why buying a 3-pack is more expensive than 3 individual ones, he tells you that its his fishes and he can do what he wants :D. The other guy is selling them cheaper.
During evening/night, you can find both of them drinking together happily and basically talking about how they're actually working together and its all a scheme to make people think the guy with the cheaper fishes is actually offering a good deal, when he probably isn't.
And then, in one of the side quests you can find in the world, a chubby boy wants to play hide and seek with you around his house.
He is the only one there and during the quest he repeatedly says that he's waiting for his parents to come home. He was always playing hide-and-seek with them and was very good at it. And that the neighbors are always nice and bring him food and things. There are 2 gravestones right beside the house for his parents. The game implies they got killed by bandits while the boy was playing hide-and-seek, so he survived. But the boy can't read and presumably no one was able to tell him that they're never going to come back. Oof.
There's also 2 seelies (basically ghost/souls you need to follow to get to some treasure) around the house. Double oof.

The story has also been pretty decent. Nothing groundbreaking, but a fun anime story basically. Some cool cutscenes and lots of voice acting. Unfortunately the storyline of the second region is incomplete (they probably ran out of time) and ends right after a series of fetch-quests and a cutscene that implies that the interesting stuff was actually going to start now...

Since I kept pestering you guys for smartphone advice on this thread, it's only fair I post a final update: I finally bought a new phone! :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

9 years later, I finally replaced my Samsung Galaxy Ace with a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro 6gb/128gb.
I got a decent price on the phone using Vodafone points. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but since I rarely trade phones, this will (hopefully) last me for quite some time.
