It's interesting how GFE is a clearly superior experience for -- at least -- everyone on a last-gen console or a lower-end/older PC.
As long as they have a good internet connection that is.

I feel like more publishers should see GFE as an opportunity rather than something which they have to prevent to get streaming exclusivity deals with Google and Amazon.
It's not just a superior experience, I think that's understating it a bit. Most users report running at a rather close to 60 framerate with RTX on medium. It's nearly on par with next-gen consoles if I'm not mistaken, if not better. As the owner of a Shadow entry level VM, it apparently completely outperforms it from what Wok and others are saying.

Of course I'm still in the queue so maybe there are basic usability issues or IQ problems that I'm not aware of, but it's pretty impressive.

Also, it just prompted me for my GoG account, so looking good!

You're right -- there is no next-gen console version right now AFAIK, they just run the last-gen version better. So e.g. no RT at all.

Crap you are right, RT is coming in 2021 for the next-gen consoles.

Also it runs still with a bit of input lag (not due to streaming, which can get really barely noticeable, but game performance instead), but infinitely better than Shadow, especially considering I have RT activated on Ultra. I also get the feeling it's slightly bright, but Shadow also has a bit of a gamma strangeness so maybe this is actually how it should properly look.

No complaint about IQ so far.

Edit : I still should say that this isn't a knock on Shadow. GFN only provides access to games, not an entire VM. I miss that comfort already, not to mention the ability to disable key capture. There's also the fact that as wok pointed out, I had to wait nearly half an hour to get in-game, and game sessions are capped at 6 hours before requeuing I believe.

At the risk of sounding like a smug ass, right now I feel extremely validated at my decision of waiting a couple of years before getting CP.
I also find it kinda funny how surprised PS4/XBO players are that their 7 years old box can't run this massive game well or make it look pretty.

The comprimise needed is from the investors and higher ups because they earn more than 10x the employees that crunched to make this multi million seller release on a specific deadline.

It's not that I want to avoid; rather, why is this 90% of the past 3 or so pages :lampblob:
Sheeeeiiiit, I thought y'all were a bunch of cool peeps playing varried games and so on, nah I saw all y'all jumpin' on the hottest thing right now like dogs to a bone :devilish:

Ah well, there will be TGA tonight, so hopefully tomorrow morning when I wake up there'll be actual worthwhile gaming trailers and what have you.

This game might turn to be something good or maybe it won't and will be another game on the Steam catalog but the first picture is what brought my attention.

I'm not totally confident in the mix of Visual Novel, Board game and RPG genres all together. I played a JRPG which had similar concept and while it wasn't bad it wasn't a jewel either.

On the Cyberpunk news, if you want to skip the GoG launcher just use
Code:
--launcher-skip
on game properties.

Also, this happened as well

So illusory wall just put an 1 hour video analysis about the world layout of Dark Souls 3. :sweaty-blob:

I happened upon this last night and watched it when I should’ve been going to sleep. Quite interesting! Really funny how they hid the “second” Anor Londo from view with the mountains in that wrapping skybox model.

Played as streetkid for 3hrs now and its soooo good wtf. This really is that dream Deus Ex game people wanted for a long time.

I hate that the game has photo mode. I mean I love it but just like with RDR2 it is such a distraction and time sink once you get obsessed with the world. And 2077 is so fucking immersive. There is so much to take in. First time now I wish I had a widescreen monitor and I don't even know if this game supports it haha. Dammit now I have to shop around.

Also if they patch in VR support for this game as DLC or something....wheeew VR headsets would probably be sold out for years.
Someone on my friends list is playing it on an ultra wide monitor, screens look great on my activity feed

Well, I way undershot my estimate of sales. Holy shit. Go to bed to it setting single player concurrent records and wake up to it having sold easily 5-6 million copies.
I'd love to try on my weak ass 7 year old pc, but I also fear it melt it into a pile of slag.

Is Geforce Now an option for you?

BTW, the soundtrack that comes with the game is pretty neat! (should be here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\BonusContent\soundtrack --- or wherever you have Steam/CP installed, obviously)

VR needs 90fps, Cyberpunk can do nowhere near it.
If you have a 3080 or higher, and turn off RT effects, it can reach above 90 FPS at 1440p, even in the gimped prerelease benchmarks. So with some concessions, it should be doable.

I think im getting too old.

I have Cyberpunk ready to play on my new high end gpu but im quite content napping in front of the snooker on tv.
This ! Minus the high end GPU :cryblob:
Gaming inertia is horrible ! On the other hand the game is here, it can wait a couple of days (I just have to make sure days don't turn to months, still haven't played Control or Death Stranding FFS !)

PS. Typing on the Mum PC, I can confirm that I semi hate the Logitech K120, noisy and I miss so many letters. The Illuminated Keyboard messed with my brain.

I'm getting very heavy audio crackling on GFN, and it appears to be a widespread issue with the game. Also the streaming quality just took a nosedive, I can tell people are starting to get back from work/school :).

You can adjust the Gamma in the settings. As far as I am concerned, I prefer the image to be slightly too bright, so I even increased it a little there.

I'm getting very heavy audio crackling on GFN
I encountered this issue when using the basic audio setting ("studio reference" or something like this). Once I switched the setting to "small speakers" (which is to say that I don't play in a theater surrounded by high-quality speakers in 7 different locations around me), the sound issue disappeared.

from what Wok and others are saying.
Also, keep in mind that I have played many games at 1080p with 45 fps, so I won't be as picky as some other people. My gameplay experience with Geforce Now is very good (and it is nowhere near 45 fps, I can feel it being close or equal to 60 fps). I would not be able to get this image quality and this frame-rate with a traditional setting... without changing most of my hardware.

Thanks for the idea on how to fix the audio issue! And the streaming quality issue appeared when I tinkered with the audio bitrate of my playback device, so that may not be on the servers.

Why oh why in 2020 can i not choose Playstation controller icons for my PC game? Its got to be one of the most easy things to implement in a game.

I haven't been following information about the new consoles, so I was kind of stunned to read this article about the PS5's activities system and a follow-up about Sony's internal motivations for creating it. tl;dr, the PS5 has an OS-level feature to track things like missions and sidequests, show you roughly how long they take to do, and will even teleport you right to them to get started. Sony implemented it because they found many players felt they needed 2+ hours available to even consider starting up a game, and would then have trouble remembering what they were doing last time.

The feature seems (mostly) neat, and I'd like to see Steam implement something similar. Like achievements, I imagine the ease of implementing this through the OS would encourage lots of devs to take advantage of it. Having a baked in "here's what you can do right now" system, complete with time estimates would be great. I've had plenty of big RPGs that I stopped playing, and didn't want to come back to because it felt like I would need to start over to get my bearings again, and I think this would be an antidote to that problem.

That said... The part of the feature that lets you teleport to the start of the activity feels so weird. That part seems clearly made to address travel times in open-world games, and when you're making OS-level band-aids to cover for the shit design of the bulk of the most popular single-player titles, something seems wrong. It feels like players think they want giant open worlds while they actually want games with lots of bite-sized missions, and instead of saying no, the games industry happily crunches its workers to death in pursuit of worlds so egregiously large that papa Sony is stepping in to let people bypass them from the OS.

It's not like they can turn back now either. Years and years of marketing hyping up the size and scope of these worlds has turned things into an arms race to be bigger and grander, even if the very people buying these games apparently just want to hit a button to completely bypass the world. Now the average gamer wants games that are so large they can't even enjoy them. This is so bizarre and fucked up and why are so many people still pretending capitalism makes good games?

If you mean Cyberpunk it has PS controller icons if you just use your Dual Shock 4 without using ds4windows/steam input mapping or whatever extra thingies.

Punks, punks everywhere.
Or should I say cyberpunks. I didn't know Keanu had a million concurrent diehard fanboys, there's no other way to explain what's happening.

Im using a Dualsense and if i disable steam input it doesnt recognise the controller. I guess maybe as its a newly release controller?

Ah. Yeah it'll probly take a while for devs to take that pad as something widely used on PC and so provide native support for it. Sucks it's not recognized as DS4.

Ok, so....

If this is accurate, then it means Steam might be already in about 2M copies sold alone, why? well, the game has been in the top 10 for 9 weeks in a row, 3 at number 1, if that data is from mostly 2019-early 2020 pre-orders, then the numbers now must be quite generous.

Split is even bigger than I thought.
I wonder if this is the first game to hit $50 million and the 80/20 revenue split from preorders.

I wondered about the same but I personally would bet it did. I don't think the game sold less than 2kk copies on Steam and the game was pricy in every single region so the revenue should have been quite high.
That is assuming "x" copies were sold and taking into consideration that most of them would come from EU/USA and other rich regions.

If we consider each copy was sold at an average revenue of 40€ ( I think it was probably higher) and there were around 2kk copies sold then the resulting numbers do tell us it definitely reached 80/20 revenue split just on preorders.
And I believe my numbers are light years away from the probably reality.

No need for more speculations on my part, confirmed by official twitter account

An incredible accomplishment by CDPR. And most importantly a future proof PC port. Just imagine in a few years when the new higher end cards are gonna be widely available and affordable. Then all the mods pc gamers make for the game + DLC + expansions and multiplayer.

I need to get PureChess one day.

I think the game will end F2P sooner than we would expect. Maybe even before the end of the year when it comes to Epic Store.

Moreover, no Geforce Now, no purchase.
They f-ed up things with latest update, game is now pure grind and lacks of new content. On top of that Outlaw Pass is getting worse with each release.

What if the game is given for free on Epic as a part of the fifteen mystery games? I can see that happening instead of F2P at least in short term
