I played the first 2 chapters of Necromunda. It's fantastic! Jank as hell and probably an acquired taste, but it's right up my alley. It's got the same approach to environmental design as E.Y.E., where levels feel unnecessarily large, which fits 40k perfectly. You get great mobility options that make it fun just to run around, despite the size of the levels. A quick mantle, fast slide, double jump, no fall damage, and a wall-run that causes you to rocket off at a bajillion miles an hour. And that's all before you get the grappling hook.
Arenas are extremely vertical and packed with objects to platform off. Since most enemies are hitscanners and the weapons I've found so far are inaccurate at range, it encourages zooming around to quickly and safely close the distance to targets so you can delete them with a burst up close. It also has a riff on Bloodborne's rally system to further encourage aggression. It's frantic in a way FPS titles don't often capture.
The RPG mechanics seem cool, but I haven't been able to do much with them yet. There's a decent variety of augmentations though, so I'm hoping for crazy shenanigans once I get some stuff unlocked.
Game runs like garbage though. I've had a lot of bad hitches and one crash so far. If you get it, consider buying directly from Steam and keeping an eye on the refund window.
Still, an awesome game, maybe even a GOTY contender for me if it keeps it up. I didn't expect to be falling back in love with hitscan-heavy shooters, but between this and Cruelty Squad, it's been a great year for them.
