Yes, and a touchscreen.

yup, i can confirm that
lashman hands on preview!?

I'm not familiar with specs but how does it stack with other gyro tech. Better/worst than PS4/PS5/Switch/Steam controller?

If MS had any sense to them they would be looking to get some sort of Gamepass front end working on Proton. It could be a win win. More Gamepass Subs and another selling point for Valve on this.

Only read the following if you hate yourself (like I apparently do).

Hell, and I am going to hate myself for saying this, if I was Tim Sweeney I would be looking to get rid of the hate boner he has for Linux and be trying to get both Fortnite and EGS on this.

Now I am going to have a shower to wash the filth off me.

I know you can put windows on this, but I would prefer an all in one solution.

The video claims (linked time) that other stores work (whatever that means in practice),

That would work as well.

But I was kind of more thinking as more of an app you add to it (I know, I know apps within apps). Just to minimise any possible friction.

Anyway, how long would it take for me to be banned from Era if I go into every thread now and say "Perfect for the Gabe Boy"?

The timing for Valve to do this is so perfect.

Gaming laptops are still a bit pricey for my taste. Some of the new ones with 3050 are like hovering around 800$ and the 3060 ones are around 1200$.

The PS5 purchase is still a 2 years away from me. It needs a much bigger library and slimmer design before I jump.

New PC is something I wanted but there aren't many affordable/feasible avenues to do it. Prebuilts seem to be the way but still very pricey.

So dropping 400$ on a Deck this holiday is really a good solution. And yea 64gb is not a lot but I already made a SteamPal folder in my library and easily put in about 60 games in it that I really want to play handheld. Dark Souls 3 is biggest file size in 25gb. Most of the stuff I would play is very small so fitting many games on the thing isn't a problem. So many jrpgs/platformers that would be prefect for this device are not that large in size.

The thing I worry about with the 400$ version is it will be in highest demand so ordering it could cause a wait till January to ship it. I really want it in Dec the earliest. So maybe that 529$ version is the safest way to go. I have a feeling preorder shit tomorrow will be a giant mess :negative-blob:

In 3 or 4 years I could see me replacing my PC with something like this. My general gaming needs are pre-dominantly FFXIV and then lots of indie games. A couple of programs for my 3D printer and that is it. This could be a perfect replacement for it. Use it docked with my monitor for FFXIV and undocked for the indie games (another 500 hours in Stardew Valley sounds good to me).

Would the APU be something similar to this one maybe?
Edit: Next GPD Win will apparently use the 5800U (which has 8 cores, not 6, wonder if Valve has set that as baseline too) and the Aya Neo thing uses the 4500U.

The OneXPlayer uses an intel APU.
No, all the known/announced AMD APUs use GPUs based on the (ancient) GCN architecture. The Steam Deck GPU is RDNA2.

It will be interesting to see if Valve releases a true dedicated SteamDeck game.

I find it hard to believe they would explore doing this type of hardware without working on some specific game designed for it in the background. Its likely they have something up their sleeve.

yeah, would be pretty cool :)

Not having a Switch to play SMTV is really eating at me.

Anyway, can't wait to try out the SoR4 dlc.

More important thing that i just realized is that we might actually get Big Picture update with SteamDeck release.

Yeah, I would love for an overhaul to BPM and the overlay. The menu they are showing off looks like it could easily replace BPM, but I wonder what the overlay will look like.

There have been some weird reactions to this announcement, which is to be expected, but I think folks are both underestimating the demand (e.g. "this will flop like Steam machines") and over estimating Valves intentions with the device.

That said, they do need to work on getting these distributed to folks everywhere. This device could be huge in some areas.

That B button placement looks awful, but i'll wait to hear more about the device before passing judgement. Will likely never buy unless they have the same kind of steep $5 prices during sales; that they did with links and controllers

Had to stick that last part in there, didn't he? Is this his way of saying exclusives arent harmful? you can play them on steam [deck] at launch

As I said I think that you can't use Epic Store o it without something like Lutris because Epic refuses to do anything Linux based.

There's a program called Legendary that is supposed to run EGS titles through Linux. I don't know how well it works though.

Point is that you need to fiddle with it instead just downloading and installing.
