Some interesting info from the site:

A new Steam operating system

On Steam Deck, your games run on a different operating system than the one on your desktop PC. It's a new version of SteamOS, built with Steam Deck in mind and optimized for a handheld gaming experience. It comes with Proton, a compatibility layer that makes it possible to run your games without any porting work needed from developers. For Deck, we're vastly improving Proton's game compatibility and support for anti-cheat solutions by working directly with the vendors. “Hold on to your butts!”

I'm not sure how it's Proton right now but I remember it had some issues with some anti cheat software, so it seems it will be fixed.

64gb isnt kinda low?

It has a microSD slot to expland

Seeing a lot of comments about how ugly it is.

Am I the only one who doesn't care because I will be looking at the screen while using it?

Yea, I never get that complaint either. My tower is an ugly black box that sits under my desk. I only see it when I hit the power button.

Do you get all your Steam games?

It's running SteamOS, so it depends on their compatibility with Proton. However, according to the IGN video, you can just wipe the thing and install Windows.

Time to put my tinfoil hat on.

HL3 will be released along the Steam Deck!:

Dunno if that Steam Deck thing will feel good in small hands. Looks bulky. Arrangement of D-Pad/Sticks/Buttons is also weird.

Would be nice but it’s not usually good to pre-purchase stuff especially new hardware.

Also is it mentioned when is the real delivery? Chip shortage etc.

@ only 2 (?) teraflops it probably can't really enhance the games since emulation will eat up power more than native, if it can even run them fullspeed (I think).
Emulation has generally little overhead on the GPU side. If a game runs sufficiently well on the CPU in the handheld running it at higher res shouldn't be a big issue. (The former will still be an issue for many games)

I don't find it ugly but then again all android phones etc. look the same to me but apparently some rectangles are waaaay different to others for some, I dunno.

And the first thing I do is throw it in a case and stick a screen protector on it so I never see the actual phone again.

It is a very nice case though.

eh, i'm thinking about it but for me the main point is the dock so i can take it with me and connect it to a larger monitor and have access to my steam library. I'm not sure how likely i am to use it when travelling but it might be taken into work for some dinner hour gaming or some games during Team/Department afternoons when i'd connect it to a big display an dpeople could play stuff.

I assume you can connect whatever you want to it via Bluetooth or a USB-C Dock so i doubt controller compatibility will be an issue.

I'll probably register my interest for the mid-range model if the only difference between them all is the storage.

As for how it looks put me in the "Eh? It looks fine and about what i'd expect for this form factor. How else could it look?" bucket. Again, Bezels aren't the work of Satan and pretty much all modern slab phone look the same to me. So what do i know?

Yo the SteamDeck sounds amazing. The IGN video totally sold me on it.
I generally play at my desktop, but taking my entire library on the go with basically PS4 power? Wow.

I mean I'd be just using it as comfy read VN in bed or outside companion machine, but that's still mighty tempting.

Well I'm assuming they didn't shove a crazy powerful CPU and only gimp the GPU side but rather balance it to similar synergy levels compared to desktop.

Should be pretty great for RetroArch and what not, I just don't believe it will do Yuzu so great yet. maybe Steam Deck 3. We'll see though, that'd be amazing.

800p screen and December is disappointing but that price tag is amazing. Valve is fucking crazy. It really is a portable PS4 with Steam library :cat-pizza-blob:
I'd say 800p is a good decision overall for a handheld in this category.

Both in hitting the price point and in making many more games perform better at native resolution. While consuming less power.
