Im so far let down by the remaster, doesn't look too different from the original and Im having a difficulty time looking at Wake's face. Might get it on sale or something, but right now im at "not sure, my interest is not high enough for a buy".
Which is bad because Im a big fan of Alan Wake's universe. The original is one of my favorite games of all time.
As I said I could be wrong but AW Remaster really isn't worth 30$ for previous PC owners.
Watched Forspoken trailer. To be frank, it was pretty disappointing to me. I originally expect a Japanese action RPG, but it turns out to be an western openworld game... and the dialogues are pretty jarring. My PC also probably can't run it in full glory next year so I can wait for deep discount.

I implore fans of turn based (j)RPGs to give this a chance. If you want your turn based rpg combat fix, this one satiates it. It's not a very difficult game long as you plan your actions and upgrade accordingly.
Also the characters have their cute moments & animations, and the french dub is quite nice~
The shooting and stealth are ok and work well within the game.

There are light puzzles and they have a hub world later on that you explore to complete main story objectives but along the line you can find some areas to get treasure from etc.
The shooting and stealth are ok and work well within the game.

Just released? I'll restart the client to see what all the fuss is about then. I only use it to click "Download this update now." so i fully expect to be disappointed because i don't use Steam or other clients like you lot seem to. lol.

I was told there was a Steam client update this morning. I ignored it. People started talking about some new Downloads page in Steam. I closed my Clientrestarted it, the update applied and now nothing. The update seems to be a bit broken for some people. wish i'd never bothered asking, lol.
Make sure there's no background Steam process that is still running. If there is, force close it and try opening Steam again.
Nah, everything is dead. It's the age old issue where Steam gets it's distribution packages and manifests in a twist, can't rename files and fails.
I even renamed my old Steam folder to install a new fresh install and that's twisted too. I expect it's doing something to piss of my AV. I'll have a look.
Remind me to tell Steam Client updates to fuck off on the night of a big new game i want to play.
Ah, I stopped using 3rd party AV like a decade ago (using only windows security). 3rd party AV started feeling like they're just not worth the hassle.

The update is applied, the Steam process starts but then nothing. It's like it's not handing off to the next exe it wants to run.
It's not getting passed the Bootstrap process as the only log i have is bootstrap.log and it says "Verification complete" then nothing and nothing happens.
No GUI or anything, i have to kill the process in task manager to try it again. This happens every few updates with Steam, it's very odd.
Im using Windows security, Malwarebytes and common sense.

On a hunch i disconnected my controller and now Steam give me the logon screen. Very odd.
Logged in and totally not worth the hassle of dicking about for 20 minutes to get the client installed.
The download screen seems really odd. the game bars and text seem much bigger and in your face but the stats in the banner are in tiny text. Honestly prefer the old layout, it was much clearer and readable.

There might be some Persona news in the upcoming days. I don't think P6 will be announced just yet since my gut tells me that's the final announcement in fall 2022. Also there might not even be any content related to PC in general or even a video game. It might just be merchandise or a new anime.
Edit: Persona 5's fifth anniversary is on the 15th so it might happen on that day.

If it's in the coming days it might be a port of 4 or 5 on Nintendo Direct, that would make much more sense right now.

Just to clarify: The start of lost legacy is linear and has melee and some shooting but the visuals are nice and once you get past that, you get to the hub world part of the game.

Yeah it's good, at first the platforming is servicable and even commendable.
But then they add some crafty platforming and while I have some gripes, I'll give it props for including them.
Just wish checkpoint statues were easier to find in later dungeons =_=

This was a reply to an apparently deleted post about enemies on Tales of Arise being "Damage Sponges"...
Dunno, going to start playing soon but usually damage sponges in early game are because there's a mechanic the game wants you to start using probably a combo attack or elemental weakness. I've found when i'm whaling against an enemy for too long it's because i need to apply an effect or gem or upgrade or special attack or something and then i melt it. Usually. Of course, it could just be the enemies are damage sponges in which case, boooo!
edit: Also, i think because Tales of Arise is a combo-combat type game combat is designed so you get to do flashy things? You probably can't one-hit stuff until later on. Maybe. I'lll find out soon enough. I'm playing on PC so if it becomes an issue i'll just use a trainer tbh.

What am I looking at here ? I'm missing some context to be excited or nonplussed.
Played the Tales of Arise demo; it plays well on Linux*; looks nice (a biiit too much anime for my taste); plays like a typical JRPG (for me): it confuses the hell out of me, but easy mode and button mashing does the trick. And it has a ton of DLC, jeez. But since I liked Tales of Berseria (didnt finish that one tho, are there any story connections?), I might play this one.
* I should make a Linux gaming thread one day... I ditched Windows completely recently, since everything I want to play runs well on Linux, sometimes it requires some tinkering**, but largely its fine. And I only expect Proton to get better and better. And I expect devs to support it more once the Deck is out. I'm using Manjaro + KDE, that's Arch-based like SteamOS 3.0 will be.
** Life is strange True Colours runs fine too, but it crashes if you have internet connectivity at the startup. So the solution here is strange indeed: disconnect, start the game, reconnect once youve started playing.

Well, actually these weren't cards but some other thing but anyway - Atlus announced some merch for the anniversary and according to Animate store it releases on the 18th so if it's anything related to new games/remakes/whatever it won't be much of a secret after it's out (so announcement(s) next week are kinda likely?)

I'm looking into Windows 11 / buying a nvme ssd. Not prohibitively pricey, but wasn't there some horror stories about those little bastards overheating ? My PC is not exactly chill. On the other hand, one more TO would be cool, and might as well be direct storage compatible.
