Additionally, DICE GM Oskar Gabrielson is leaving the company to pursue a new endeavor outside of EA. The shake-up also includes Respawn's Vince Zampella taking on a bigger role as the new overall boss of the Battlefield franchise, while Halo designer Marcus Lehto is building a new development team in Seattle focused on injecting more storytelling into the Battlefield universe. Ripple Effect, the developer of Battlefield 2042's Portal mode, is developing a new Battlefield experience in the Battlefield 2042 universe.
DICE needed a shake-up for a while now. Hopefully Vince can fix the studio and the franchise.

Played through most of the tutorial in Mecha Jammers. Not overly impressed at the moment. It's weird, as it is lots of little niggles that are the cause and nothing overly major in and of themself. But adding up just leaves me a bit meh.

The initial problem is movement is point and click. However if I tried clicking into a shaded area or long grass area it wouldn't move directly into them. Instead I would have to walk up to it then walk into it, so 2 move commands.

Then, I accidently threw my gun in the combat section. I could see it on the floor, but there was no option to pick it up. There where other guns in the tutorial, but in the game proper this could get very annoying.

I can't reload my gun in the inventory, I have to equip the gun and then select the reload button.

Interracting with the party members in the tutorial brings up an inventory every time, however the point of the tutorial is to speak to the NPC. The inventory covers the option to talk to them, so you have to close this down every time you talk to someone.

Everything is down to rolls, want to hack a computer. Roll. Want to pick a lock. Roll. But from the tutorial there is no context to it. There is no indication of the skills behind it, what you need to achieve and what you have actually rolled. It just seems kind of pointless and could have been done in the background without you knowing about it.

There are minor issues with the translation, but only in the sense of there being "the" or "a" missing from sentances that just mean they read a bit odd.

On a more positive note, I love how the game looks. The music is excellent in an 80's John Carpenter/Bladerunner way.

I am going to perservere with it though. All of this is out of context of the game and story. It could well be these make more sense once you are in the game itself. Or that you won't be interacting with the systems as often so they won't be as big an issue.

Also had a quick go with Tormented Souls. Loved what I have played of it so far. Nice, creepy atmosphere. Looks like it is a flight not fight type of game, as the enemies appear to be fairly tough. My only real negative is the save system. I hate resource management of save files. Like the old RE games, you can only save by using a resource. However I do like the fact that the character narrates the story so far as part of the save.

On a related note, their previous game, VRITRA, is a rather fun shmup, with an impressive soundtrack, that is sadly extremely overlooked.

Random thought of the day but just realised that The Gunk is out very soon, like 2 weeks or so, and there's barely any actual footage of raw gameplay?

Looking at it all I know is that its 3rd person and you hoover up goo :confused-face:
Hoping it comes together given the pedigree of the team but such silence makes me wary

Just an FYI about Mechajammer it's most likely going to be buggy as shit and take forever for them to generally fix anything:

Whalenought Studios other game (Which I liked a lot) Serpent in the Staglands has a lot of quirky annoying as fuck bugs and that game was released in 2015. I don't think it uses the same engine at all but I don't know, Serpent in the Staglands was supposed to have an expansion or a sequel so I mean. yeah...

BGS sandbox games have never been about the main questline for me.

The primary draw has always been roleplaying in the sense of creating my own storyline via exploration & discovery. Something I've yet to see other genre peers replicate at such a level.

In most sandbox rpgs, environments are just static set dressings for visual variety as I beeline from one objective marker to the next. With BGS the interactive environments are the primary role-playing vehicle.

Everything else is just gravy.
I get it and its the biggest reason I love their games as well.

But its still a missed opportunity when you create an amazing giant open world and insert a throwaway missing person story in to the center of it all.

By comparison Geralt searching for Ciri throughout W3 was astronomically better in terms of character development, story telling and writing than fallout3/4. You can introduce a lot of side characters and give them arcs etc. Even New Vegas oozed with so much more style and compelling writing. The quests were more interesting and rewarding when you complete them.

I just don't want Starfield's story to be an afterthought. Especially when they are calling it Han Solo Simulator. I would love more interesting stuff regarding factions, companions and whatever alien stuff might be in it. I want it to have the gameplay of Fallout 4 mixed with syfy story telling of Mass Effect.

Shoutout to SaGa series lovers
Funny enough, I started my first SaGa game recently. I've heard a lot of good things about the series over the years.



I'm a few regions in with Urpina at this point, and I think I'm getting a good grasp of the combat system thus far. It's really the highlight here. It's difficult enough where you've having to use everything at your disposal to win, especially the Hard fights. The limited action points (BP), meaning you can't act with all of your characters every turn, or use the best abilities, combined with having to manipulate turn order to your advantage, and using status effects to your advantage makes for an interesting system.

Suffice to say I'm enjoying it so far.

I love Bethesda RPGs. Even now, after Fallout 76 debacle, I will always be there for a new game from them.

However I think I have only ever completed Fallout 3. I have put 100s of hours into each of them. I tend to play them as map exploration games, admittedly one where I get mauled by Cliff Racers, bears, dragons or giants every now and then.

I do need to go back and actually play New Vegas properly. When I kept getting killed by giant mosquito things, I gave up without realising they are meant to be difficult enemies.


I'm enjoying Townscaper a little too much
I have put way too many hours into it than I would care to admit.

Also, found another cool feature in Dorfromantik (not played in a little while). You can play the puzzle made and then at the game over stage, continue your map in creative mode. I love that feature.

I like BGS games too. But I hate their story telling and writing. Usually the first mod I search for to use on any BGS game is an alternate start mod. I like to play my own character in the world they make, and not follow their script. I've put 100's of hours into Skyrim and Oblivion completly ignoring MSQ nonsense lol.

I just like to be a cozy adventurer going from town to town doing whatever I designed a character to do/roleplay. Bethesda games are great for that in the big open sandboxes. (With mods to supplement even more quests and NPC's and places, etc...).

Unfortunately this is getting harder and harder. If Fallout 4 is anything to go by. The voiced-protag really deletes all your roleplaying possibilities and all the illusions of choice constantly confine you into the character they've pre-written for you. In FO4 you could never be a character of your own making. You were always and will always be the lost parent lookin' for their baby and it's annoying as heck.

I hope they don't force it so much for ES6 and Starfield.

Yeah count me in as someone who also loves BGS games! For me, games as a medium is at their best when it is virtual worlds with as much freedom as possible and I think Morrowind was the first game I felt took a good leap in what games could be.

I think the perfect game for me would be something like a combination for Minecraft and BGS games with the production values of Witcher.

The Intro to Mafia 2 is pretty great.
DONTNOD forgot to advertise Twin Mirror is out on Steam, since they didn't even mentioned it on social media (apparently, they forgot about the game as well :LOL:).

But, they prepared a trailer for the Steam release (which remains unlisted on Youtube; again, way to promote your games :thinking-face:).

I bought Fight in Tight Spaces to see how it fares, and thought maybe I would just refund it if it is not good.

Well, the plan didn't go too well. Because... BAM! THREE HOURS GONE. Incredible game, just incredible.

Highly recommend to deck building fans.

I'm 10 hours in Darksiders 3 and it's much better than I expected. I'm playing in classic mode though, so I'm not sure how bad the vanilla combat is.
It's a good game. Default combat is good as well.
The story really didn't do anything for me at all though.

Time for the 3rd and final new game in Wasteland 3.
First time around to find out about the skills and attributes and a little bit of the very early game
Second time to attempt at an optimal build and to find out where it fails, i.e. the brick wall where your team gets inevitably killed over and over.
Thrid time to finally get through the game (i hope...)

Jesus, at last I could play Crimzon Clover again.
Looks like going from a 1080p to a 1440p monitor changed things. Before that I had sound but no image, but now I have a tiny image, yeah !

No idea why the Nvidia driver doesn't upscale the game, no idea why lossless scaling doesn't if I set it to auto, but...
At 1.5 upscale I get a big comfy screen (at 2 the upscale doesn't fit and the score is eaten).

Not sure what I do wrong.

Now, Cave stop being stupid and port Guwange and the Esp series.

I never finished Wasteland 3, got quite near the end i think but then as kio says kept getting killed and so i dropped off it and haven't gone back. Shame, was a fun game till then.

I started Ittle Dew yesterday. It's nothing special but pretty fun. The puzzles are pretty nice.
Looking forward to the 2nd game, which I've heard very good things about.

They're both good, but I'd go with Blasphemous. The free DLC (that I haven't played) seems to have made it even better too.
Yeah, but on the other hand the first free dlc requires a new game + so as much as I'm interested in positive word of mouth I'm not sure I will go that far.
And I suppose the second one will require it too, but what do I know. I just asked the dev on twitter and got no answer, because PR is super hard like that. A least answer that you don't want to answer for the time being, motherfuckers.

I wasn't aware of that (which actually makes me more likely to give it a try eventually, cause I'd already completed it by the time they came out), I was more referring to the DLCs/updates adding some general QoL stuff that improves the entire experience (pretty sure about that at least).

New Game+ is just an addition, not a requirement to experience the new content (And the 2nd DLC indeed had general QoL improvements!).
And also apperently there's the final DLC in a couple days? In which case I'd probably wait either way and go with Bloodstained first.
