We should get some news on both NMH3 and DP2 next month - Thunderful is going to publish (or someone is going to leak it) their financial raport and XSEED is attending some sort of an event with new announcements and that seems like a good time to announce NMH3 for August.

P4 Arena Ultimax is, to no one’s surprise, a shit PC port.

Booted the game and it disabled my display. Had to remote in by VNC to find out what happened - it set my resolution to a weird resolution that my display didn’t support, so I changed it to 4K and that fixed it.

Audio only works if I set the game to Borderless windowed, quit out, reload and switch back to Full Screen.

I would keep the game on borderless, but it puts a black bar on the left of my screen and distorts the aspect ratio.

Garbage.

Earlier today, I saw several users "complaining" about the lack of effort from Square Enix on their PC ports, saying they are treated as a clear afterthought, and that feedback is fully deserved.
With SEGA, I don't understand why they seem to get a pass on most things they do. They release one 10-15 old title, and suddenly everyone acts like they are a company whose PC support (for Japanese titles) is extraordinary. I really don't get it.
At least from my perspective, the last SEGA game I really wanted to play was Valkyria Chronicles 4.

Not only did that release day-and-date on PC, it's the single best port of a modern JRPG on PC that I ever played (which I did not work on myself). In all its years of existence, Square-Enix hasn't managed to do anything of comparable quality in a comparable release timeframe even once.

Does Sega make some questionable decisions? Sure. Are they S-E tier? Not even close.

Yep. Sega is just weird. Squeenix is fucking bizarre.

after downloading the apks, i tried logging into geforce now, but as i did, it lead me to the main menu of geforce now; basically it didn't work (naturally), but at least it was worth it looking into it, hopefully won't be any consequences from this

even if i can't progress, i will rest with pride, knowing i am the only person on this earth to my knowledge who has shin megami tensei v officially from nvidia onto my very own samsung galaxy s20

Kinda OT, but since you brought the name up, I noticed that VC4 is currently -80% on Steam.

Played and enjoyed the first but never finished it.

Still, I remember hearing that VC4 was a return to form.

Worth it for a lapsed VC1 fan? Better than VC1? Worse?

I basically meant, Durante, that both companies have a lot of shortcomings when it comes to their PC output (both in terms of releasing titles on the platform, or in a timely manner, or the quality of the ports), and while Square Enix is frequently called out for their "misdeeds", SEGA seems to get a pass on almost everything, despite clearly falling short of their promises. :)
I see it quite frequently, even reading some of today's posts after my earlier post. Despite SEGA failing to deliver over and over again, and not announcing anything "new" (ports) in ages, people continue to give it the benefit of doubt, expecting those promised ports to be coming out soon.

Square Enix, at least, barely skips PC for new releases (although their ports are quite uneven; some are quite competent, others are a mess), and even treats the PC to ports of older titles that frequently come out later, if at all, on consoles.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 was indeed a good port, Durante, but SEGA's ports are also quite uneven, and frequently not without a fault.
As was reported today by another user, the latest SEGA port (that Persona fighting game) appears to be a complete mess of a port, with numerous complaints on the Steam forums, from controller problems, graphics problems, and more.

So, basically, Square Enix is, for all their faults, a company that releases a lot more stuff on PC than SEGA, even if their output quality is quite uneven, and SEGA may frequently handle their ports better than Square Enix, but on the oppositive side, they continue to ignore the PC for several of their new games, and for pretty much all of their "retro" re-releases, and the fact they occasionally release a port of a 10-15 year old title doesn't outweigh, for me, the lack of support they place on PC, despite all their promises.

Of course for me, who always enjoyed SEGA's output immensely more than Square Enix, this is bad news, and I would like for SEGA to take the PC a bit more seriously when it comes to their Japanese titles (I don't forget their European PC output, of course), and to see them fully support the platform with retro re-releases. Even Konami has been handling releasing some older console titles on PC in great shape (usually handled by M2), why can't SEGA do similarly, and release, say, a compilation of Shinobi titles?

Reason: typos galore

I think it's great. Mechanically and technically, it's either a flat out improvement or on par with VC1 on all fronts.

Except they don't get a pass, people bring up the "aggressively porting" quote quite frequently after all.

Square Enix, at least, barely skips PC for new releases (although their ports are quite uneven; some are quite competent, others are a mess), and even treats the PC to ports of older titles that frequently come out later, if at all, on consoles.
There's quite a few recent Square Enix announcements that do not include a PC version, such as Triangle Strategy, Live a Live HD 2D, Front Mission remakes (though since the Front Mission remakes are from the same studio as Panzer Dragoon, they may be in a similar situation and get a PC version later), the Chocobo FF kart racing game (though with the microtransactions it has, I guess it's a good thing).

Other than that, it's hard to see Square Enix in a positive light with the multiple EGS exclusives they've been doing lately (especially FF7 remake with its PS4 exclusivity plus another half year for intergrade plus EGS exclusive), and also the increase in price for their bigger releases (from $60/60€ to $70/80€ for the standard versions).

I just don't get it how Square is not learning anything from other Japanese publishers at all. Sega, Capcom, Bandai Namco and many other Japanese publishers are achieving more and more success on PC to the point that PC is becoming their primary platform, while Square still treats PC as afterthought.

This

but also

WHERE THE FUCK IS THE DEADLY PREMONITION 2 PC PORT????
Let me add to this:

Where is a working Deadly Premonition PC port?
Where is a No More Heroes 3 PC port?

Really, we need some more Japanese quirky games easily available on the platform. :)
As I mentioned in the previos page:

Sadly what ezodagrom said and on top of that we still have some other PC ports that leaked (or we suspect are coming too) that are yet to be announced.

Deadly Premonition 2? Either canned or delayed due publisher purchase by Thunderful group.
NMH3? I could see it announced in the next Xseed line-up.
SMT V? completely unknown when, sadly we don't have an estimation which makes things even more difficult.
Square Exclusives? Switch ones we do suspect will follow the usual path of 8-12 months and the EGS ones we don't know but should know in the next 30 days (yes, I'm going to give them all April too)

So yeah, it sucks to not know when things will happen :(

I was pulling the trigger on metal gear survive since it was really cheap on indiegala but I saw that it has an always online requirement.
Considering that the game has flopped, I don't trust them to keep the servers on for the far future

but didn't thunderful buy rising star before the financial report that talked about DP2 PC?
That is correct but after that financial report, Rising Star went completely silent so, if none of us have access to Thunderful reps, we won't know for sure what happened there, heck, was DP2 ever mentioned again in any other financial report after that one? :/

So yea, I think it might be canned.

EDIT: OK, maybe not canned and just delayed from 2021 to 2022 but, why would that happen tho? and I have checked the list of releases and DP2 is the only one that didn't make it, so.... outlook not so good.

Hogwarts does look amazing. I hope the finished product will be like it. Too many preview videos over the past decade that would not hold up later.

Hogwarts looks incredible but apparently it's coming to switch and not as a cloud game. Still waiting for confirmation on that but an amazon listing was spotted earlier. I can't even imagine how bad it'll look on there, but it also raises the question on how much more the game could be if it didn't have to run on switch. Hopefully the listing was a mistake and it's cloud only.
