Ooooooo, coffee talk. Coffee is like, part of my identity at this point, for better or worse. I started drinking it around 9-10 because I got diabetes (type 1) and could no longer drink soda, juice, etc. and wanted something besides water to drink.

I prefer to drink out of travel mugs to keep it at a hotter temp longer, and have about 2 of those with regular (dark roast preferably) coffee with a tiny splash of milk per day, and another 2 of decaf. I still drink water, and very occasionally tea or something like Sparkling Ice but something in most teas gives me a stomach ache after like 4 oz.

My basic grinder I used for 10+ years died a couple years ago and I got one of those "burr grinders" and was surprised that it did, in fact, make tastier coffee, because I was super skeptical. My current coffee maker my partner got me can do lots of stuff but I make myself a (very basic) cappuccino every now and then with it as well which is nice (that's the only non-drip coffee coffee drink I seem to like).

I'm really happy to be in a city with a strong coffee culture, I have my pick of locally roasted beans and cafes to hit up, and even the grocery stores have local coffee on the shelves.

I've tested out going fully off caffeine for a couple months several times over the past 20 years and never noticed any difference in my health or happiness, outside of missing the more options of caffeinated coffee, so at this point I just go for it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back on mildly on-topic - indie games are really the only ones I tend to get "hyped" for where I'll wait for their release date regularly. AAA games you can almost always know exactly what you're getting, just a matter of how well executed, which you can't know until after release and usually several months of patches. I am excited for Miles Morales to come to PC since I haven't played it, but not likely going to double dip on the other. Other than that, and the inevitable GoW2/HZD2 PC versions, I'm not sure if there is a AAA game I'm optimistic about. Starfield might be good but who the hell knows?

I'm not going to support Acti-Blizz at all with money anymore unless there are big changes, and the only thing they have in the pipeline for me is Diablo 4, which I fear they're going to remove all the good ideas of D3 from and make it tedious again. Ubi is kind of the same thing, AC is the only series of theirs I sort of play and even then it's less than half the games and I haven't picked up the latest and I am unsure what they could offer in a new one to get me interested. Forza Horizon 6 might tempt me, but I hated the weekly car unlock GAAS FOMO stuff in 4, and how hard it was to unlock certain stuff in general for a person who played 2-3 times a week. Just let me play with the cars and do zoom zooms. I don't need 3 different currencies to unlock 800 cars over the course of 3 years.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

For me, the question whether any game needs a remaster or remake comes down to the following: does it still play well (controls, UI systems etc)? Is it a horror to set up on my modern Linux system? Does it look acceptable for my standards or not?
Those are quite personal reasons, of course.

When it comes down to Resi 4 (as well as the old fixed-camera angle games), I dont wanna play them as they are. Having played Resi 7, RE Village, the remasters, and the Revelations games, I wanna play Resident Evil like that.

I cannot stomach the tank controls of RE4, I do not like the fixed camera angles of the old games and the 2002 REmake – so if they end of remaking everything in the vein of REmake 2 and REmake 3, I'd be happy :) And of course I'm happy about RE4 being remade, the tank controls and the brown colour palette being my main gripes with the old version.

The Quarry

its a bit weird, it showed up as "Free to play" today, downloaded the whole game but upon starting only gave the option to "Play Demo" - apparently also people that bought the game only had that option until they linked a 2K account. The "Free to play" option seems gone now, tho.
Anyway, the game runs on Steam Deck & Linux - just not very well on the Deck (yet).

The "shrug" reaction

lashman I figured since it wasnt there before (Or, I never noticed it), you added it since you reacted with -what looked to me newly added- shrug reaction. But if you didnt add it, thanks to whoever did.

I also like how everyone reacted with a shrug to that posting :D

Playing Atelier Firis with my old Steam Controller, anybody know how I can up the right trackpad to rotate the view faster? It is quite a chore to get the character to face forward or look around while walking. Already maxed out the games own rotate speed.

So sad GenDesign games are published by Epic :(, no Steam release for the time being. :(.
I thought it was an just an economic agreement and not a distribution agreement.
I hope that, as usual, the development time of their next game is long enough to piss off Epic like they did with Sony or for EGS to start publishing on Steam.

Started to replay Resi 4 because of the remake.
Instantly played 8 hours without a break and thought, honestly, this really doesn't need a remake. It's still amazing.
Then i had to redo the whole mine cart part because i failed the QTE at the end.

Yea, maybe a remake will do some good afterall
Aren't the QTE's busted in the most recent port because of the framerate, you really really need to hammer the button fast in those. Or cap to 30 for some of it.

Y'ALL KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS!!!
Morbin' time?

Well, in my opinion it definitely is but I have no idea what kind of games you like.
I enjoy shooters the most, strategy (of the rts and xcom style tactics variety), as well as action, adventure in the P&C and 0therwise variety. And the occasional platformer. If it's not tradtional sports or 4x I'm in basically.

Quake remake
Mind spoiler tag it? Some people may not want to see this supposed leak.

Also I believe this is real. Just look at the logos of Overdose and Everwild. I seriously doubt a faker could design nice logo like these.

Edit; Guess I am wrong?

Quake remake
That remake, if true... I mean it's been rumored / spoken of for quite a while...

Do I dare get excited. Do I dare?!

Objectively there is less than 1% chance it meets my expectations, even if I moderate them slightly.

Quake remake
This looks plausible, but a few things make me lean towards it being fake, like Everwild being on there but not Pentiment, and TWAU2 coming to PC Game Pass when I don’t think any EGS exclusive has since 2019. anyway, we’ll find out soon enough

edit: yeah, almost certainly fake

It's fake apparently
yeah, it's easy to see if you look at the overdose logo

the logo doesnt have the three dots from the allegedly leaked logo, yet it still has the triangle V from the alleged logo, they took some bits of it and removed others, there's no other point in it unless they're a complete moron or something who is demented and simply forgot to add three dots to the O's

plus, that plague game is also apparently cloud which they forgot, gigantic doubt and huge omegaluls that people thought it was real

Going back to random encounters feels like a step back from arceus, I really hope they keep them in the new pokemon games, also the trading requirements for evolving pokemons are shit, arceus was simply great because you could simply get all pokemons in game without external help.
One QOL I hope they keep is being able to access the PC from the pokemon menu, it's really nice.

Honkai Star Rail looks great.

From what I've seen I like the aesthetics more than Genshin, but I'm unsure about the turn-based nature. I'm always a bit wary, because turn-based has a lot of potential to waste a lot of time if not done right, even more so in a live-service game you're supposed to play regularly.
Gonna check it out though whenever it releases.

This is focused primarily on stealth and manipulating light and shadow to deal with the rats in a medieval horror setting. It's very plot driven and has some (imo) great characters brought to life with very good performances. The VA for Amicia is definitely one of the stand out performances in gaming in recent memory.

I kind remember that at first you had to use WON and then move away from that to use Valves own stuff. I remember had to make a new account and all.

I remember this because I was playing on a friends CDKEY on WON but with the move that no longer worked haha.
