Warning regarding AI: The Somnium Files 2 - controllers do not work if you're running Windows 11 (I personally tested this with DirectInput and Xinput pads, neither work).

Per the game's own Steam discussion forum, it appears to be some kind of conflict with the Steam overlay, and affects both Somnium Files 1 and 2. Spike Chunsoft is aware of the issue and are supposedly working on a fix. But for now, if you're planning on playing using a pad, you should hold off on picking up the Steam version.

I feel like I'm playing a different game from some people here.

Some pretty cool things happening. A modder has created a DLLS to FSR2.0 translation layer. Currently, it only works in Cyberpunk but with a bit of work can be made to work with other games in the future. Works under Proton so should work on SteamDeck.

I did turn off SteamInput, based on the feedback in the discussions forum my test units were a DualSense (DirectInput) and the 8bitDo Xbox Pro2 Wired (Xinput).

Just to be 100% sure, will test again using the standard Xbox `Series pad, wired and wireless.

Edit: What the hell?? Now both xinput and dinput work I'm 100% sure I had it off earlier. But everything suddenly started working after I plugged in the OEM Xbox pad, even the DS. I didn't change the SteamInput setting, I just checked to see if it was still off.

Anyway, whatever this was, the game apparently works now, so I'd better edit my last post to avoid dissuading anyone from buying this. Thanks C-Dub!

Continuing with emulation I'm amazed how good is right now original xbox emulation on PC.
Just tried Conker and DOAX1 and ran perfect.

and the more important Dino Crisis 3 worked perfect too.

can be rendered 4k just with few framedrops except on videos (this need to be improved) but wow.
xemu is amazing.

It's great finally seeing some actual strides on Xbox Emu after it was just kind of in limbo for so long.
Gonna chalk it up a bit to the generation that grew up with the device being old enough now to put in the effort for this.

I think it's mostly just that emulating x86 is incredibly hard. And the Xbox did enough strange things that you can't just run it on Windows, you have to properly emulate or virtualise it. It was always going to be hard work, and I think the console just didn't have the popularity that your Playstations or Nintendo consoles have had.

Little late but what the fuck man this looks like it was in a pretty advanced stage of completion. Either that or it was pulled from a fairly elaborate vertical slice. Otherwise there's no way a game will have that level of detail, effects, lighting etc. if it isn't close to the finish line.

the issue isn't DX12 (or more specifically D3D12). The issue is just that the ports don't make good use of it. It seems like a very widespread problem, though. Kinda hope over time, as more experience and best practices with DX12 and Vulcan accumulate, that things will get better. For anything that doesn't use RT, it's probably ultimately less work to just keep using DX11.

I like TMNT. Not really what I expected as I replayed SOR4 today and this play nothing like it. I don’t remember the old fight em up in the franchise playing like that either. Enemies are no sponge at all, engagements are super quick. It’s cool, it differentiate itself in a very samey genre.

Contacted support and they told me they were "in constant contact with the publisher" but that they couldn't give me a timeframe for when I'd get my code. So I asked them to refund my purchase and they stopped replying to me.

I don't know where they are located though, so my email may have gotten to them after office hours but it's the next day and still nothing so who knows? You'd think they'd have staff on even during the week-ends for when shit like this happens. Surely they wouldn't just sit on the keys until monday morning?

Just tested the FSR2.0 mod for Cyberpunk 2077, on performance mode, I got 20+ extra fps on my 1070, visual got a little worse, but I gladly trade a little of uglyness for 20+ fps, the only problem is the ghosting, if they can fix it or even mitigate it, would be perfect.

I should look at hardcoregamer101 books too. That being said, not sure either would fit my purpose right now, and no idea if any books or sites exist for what I’m looking for. TMNT basically supercharged my nostalgia and I would be really interested in video games essays that contextualize them within their market at the time. How to be clearer ? I’m not that interested that Super Raptor 3 Turbo released then and there with these options, I’m far more intrigued when there is a snapshot of society and pop culture at the time of release. The more I analyse my question the more I’m beginning to think I want a Tim Rogers book… maybe ?
Are there books in that vein ?

IIRC, when i got it they sent me an email that said that if I downloaded the pdf but cancel my order they would not refund the whole thing. In other words It would be a roundabout way of buying only a pdf version.

I'm not sure how it is where you guys are at but Honda has been "marking up" Hondas because of how hard they are to get, so even though MSRP may be $30,000 USD they are adding a $7000USD charge to it since they don't have many to sell. That's just dumb.

Almost all new cars are pretty much sold within 24 hours it seems.

During the start of the pandemy, mostly because shipping dates started levitating from the usual 3 months to 9/12 months. Now it's, unfortunately, the worstt time to buy a car because price is into the scalper territory for new and used as well. It's an identical situation compared to what we've seen in the gpu space
I bought a Ford in February 2020, they lend it to me only in July and according the dealer I was been even lucky because order from a week apart from mine were being delivered only in December (As an estimate)

I installed The Pathless yesterday and this is so far the first game where i really had to go all in for tweaking to extract best performance. If you just go with in-game settings and don't tweak CPU/GPU settings on Deck you won't go far. But if you tweak ini file and GPU power you can get above 40FPS with these settings

Keep in mind that real Render Resolution is actually 66% (tweaked in ini file and then i made ini file Read Only). You need to set GPU Power manually and it should be at at least 1300MHz (keeping it controlled by Deck pushes CPU more then it needs and doesn't give GPU enough juice). And so far min FPS is 43 and it goes above 50FPS dpending where you look.

Hmm, I don’t know what to do. I’m in the mood for a good old DRPG that I will probably drop midway because of how horribly repetitive games in the genre get, but really torn about which. I have Operation Abyss New Tokyo Legacy, Ray Gigant and the original Stranger of Sword City.
I’m eyeing Coven of Dusk, interested in Sword City Revisited and chomping at the bits for Undernauts, but this motherfucker is 40 discounted.

My available games choice is meh. I already tried Operation Abyss on Vita years ago and it already felt old at the time. And the game vexated me with hidden fucking non mandatory door in the first dungeon.
Ray Gigant looks pretty cool, but it is famous for being piss easy.
On the other hand the original Sword City steam reviews make it feels like a good emulation of slowly cutting your testicles hair with your bare hands.

I’m really. Not interested in Coven of Dusk whole pupppet thing and grindy as fuck endgame, but its reputation is solid. Sword City Revisited is famous for easying up the original to the point of sorta breaking it, cool. But 30. And Undernauts aestethics is just so damn cool. But 40.

Yeah, when I hesitate, I do it wholeheartedly.
