Gotta be one of the best Choice months tbh.

7 of 8 on my wishlist never fookin' happens lol.

Edit:
Spoke too soon. The Death Stranding code doesn't work if you already have base DS.
But it was easy enough to delete DS from my account and then proceed. Which I guess is what people did with Control huh?

Anyone else having problems with this site not wanting to load today?
Me too. US East Coast.

3BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth has everything you asked for. Hall sensors for no drift, works with Switch, PC and Android, Bluetooth and 2.4g connection, extra triggers on the back and comes with the coolest charging dock. Go for it.
It's a toss up between the gulikit and that. I know the joys are the same.. but the gulikit supposedly also uses the halls for the triggers.

This Humble Monthly is better than I thought at first glance because I've somehow never heard of a bunch of these but they look fantastic. I already beat DS base edition so I'm not sure if I"ll claim that for replaying or just give it away.

It feels like options are really limited for controllers. For PC/Mobile/Switch, I can only think of 8bitdo which a lot of folks swear by if you are wanting something other than a DS4/5, Xbox, or Nintendo Pro controller, I have the Pro 1 and it is fine, but I still ever so slightly prefer either my Xbox XSX controller or DS4 controller. The only controller I know that has Hall Effect sensors is the GuliKit, but I have heard mixed reviews on it.
Was just looking at the gulikit. One of the 8bit supposedly has the same hall sensors provided by gulikit.

I hate the switch pro controller lol.
Just another endorsement of 8bitdo, I have one of their Pro 2 controllers which has an analog switch for changing modes (Switch, Android, etc.) and it's very comfortable and feels solid. Plus it is one of the rare ones where you can swap out the rechargeable battery for... more batteries (I use Eneloop) when it dies.

I have the 8BitDo Ultimate controller with hall effect sensors. Did a button mod using cheap keycaps I bought from the 8BitDo site that let me put the Xbox ABXY layout on the gamepad.

Best controller I've ever bought, to be honest. Great low latency on 2.4ghz, nice feel in the hand, rear buttons with 3 profiles able to be stored in controller memory (more than enough for my general use-case), amazing deadzones and the cradle is a great addition: it switches the controller off when docked, switches it back on when undocked and I haven't had to worry about battery on my gamepad since changing to the Ultimate.

Switching the keycaps wasn't very difficult I assume? Unless something radically changes at some point before I need a new controller, the Ultimate Bluetooth is probably my next controller as well. Though the internal battery will always be a bummer to me, I could deal with it since the controller is otherwise excellent.
In xinput mode, does the star button automatically get mapped as a screenshot button like in the series x controllers?

So in order to use the Death Stranding DC from HB I first must request to remove DS from my library, activate the key for the DC version from HB and then request to restore the OG?

Is this correct?

Well, TLoU was still crashing after today's patch but the hotfix driver from nVidia seems to have done something cause I was able to play for like two and a half hours without any crashes after installing it. The game is pushing my CPU like no other, though. I noticed the RGB plate on my CPU cooler was flashing red at the end there and when I looked in iCue it said the device was running in "failsafe mode". Not sure what happened because my temps weren't that bad. I mean, they were lower than during the shader compilation. As far as I can tell, it was because of the coolant fluid's temp. I'll have to try setting a more aggressive fan curve the next time I play. But at least I can play now. :steam_pigblanket:

As far as I’m aware, star button does not. But an update may have changed that. I don’t take screenshots so I haven’t tested it in a while.

As for changing the key caps, considering 8BitDo sell them, the process could’ve been easier. It’s not anywhere near as straightforward as changing the key caps as it is on the KingKong controller, but if you’ve opened up a small device before you shouldn’t have much difficulty.

In a lot of scenes my CPU draws more power than my GPU in this game which is wild for what the game is.

So its been over 2 years now since Kingdom Hearts came out on EGS and still no Steam release.

I can't believe Square sacrificed these games for some shitty moneyhat. They decide to this right when something like the Steam Deck came out too.

And looking at how insane the prices for these games are on EGS to this day.....

This is the type of stuff that makes me lose all respect for a company and never want to support them again in any way.

Fuck Square and fuck Sweeney.

Decision in appeal of Steam Controller lawsuit, mostly in favor of Ironburg.
Though looks like Valve still has chance to invalidate whole patent.

Could this case still have consequences for the Steam Deck? Or is the design used there different enough for the patent to likely not apply?

It is really something to be behold, and I hope Naughty Dogs will consider looking at this very carefully and fix things. It can't be the texture compression software, as that is also used in other games (Days Gone) that don't have such crazy high CPU usage.
In fact, I don't think it can be anything about 3rd party software, as the game is pushing the CPU even in completely static scenes, when you are just standing at an empty hallway or room and doing nothing.

If I didn't know any better I'd assume Naughty Dogs is running a crypto miner or something.

Why would you want the old version back if you get the DC version?
I've never heard of Steam restoring licenses after user-initiated deletion.

You're right about Step 1 and Step 2. I don't understand the reasoning for Step 3 however.

Seems the correct to do. Here is more information about it

Most likely +1 in the library for collectors. Or it could be save files that are not compatible with the new version

lack of achievements in many oindie games
How common is that, excluding EA games and all sort of 5-60 minutes long games? Don't think I've seen one since Undertale (and other devs are usually bullied into adding them by 'no achievements no buy ' crowd).

I am trying hard not to play games because of achievements. They are not the selling point for a game. Sure they are fun to unlock, but it's one time only and just ruin a second playthrough of the games

Two trash companies deserve each other :cautious:
1) They are permanent
2) Exclusivity is up, can be released anytime, but haven't
3) Exclusivity is up, but plans to release them once KH4 marketing starts

Honestly, if they are permanent, I wish Square/Epic would just say they are.
If not, I wish Square could tell us their plans

People are just left with nothing atm.

Good job Steam/devs. Shitty regional pricing, bad ports, lack of controller support and achievements in many indie games. you made me a Xbox boy again~
I completely understand the regional pricing complaint and parts of the bad ports complaint (but only when talking about triple aaa titles, rarely have any bad ports with indies and AA games).

However, I do not understand your complaint with controller support and achievements. There has never been better achievement and controller support on PC than today.

And if you like indies, PC will always be the emperor.

I admit, I don't really play a game without achievements. There are just too many games to play so might as well play something that's equally interesting to me but does have those steam features that I want.

I actually played a game yesterday without both achievements and cloud save, Ven VR, it was a letdown it didn't have them, but the game was decent fun, so I played through it anyway. It reminded me about how few games do not have cheevos and devs should be allowed to not add cheevos if they don't want.

Cheevos is a great bonus, but not played a game that doesn't have them is weird as hell to me.

RimWorld, one of the best games on Steam that also is played by thousands of people for hundreds of hour don't have cheevos.

The lootbox ruling against Sony in Austria is now legally binding. (I wrote about it in the last thread) Sony did not fight against the ruling, they had time to appeal until the 3rd of April.

(no english article as of yet)
here is an old march article after the initial ruling: Austrian Court classifies loot boxes as gambling

some facts:
  • The ruling is about FUT lootboxes from EA
  • the court case was against Sony, though. And it was ruled as gambling
  • It was a single person who won the case and Sony has to pay back 336,26€
  • There is no automatic ruling in Austria (or whatever the American court system calls it when one precedence case will be used in all cases thereafter), so any new person who sues a company about lootboxes will face the same long process as the initial person. (until the rule makers make lootboxes illegal country-wide)
  • but the law firm that won the case has "hundreds" of other cases ready to file against sony from victims of lootboxes.

The saddest thing of all is that these aren't even new games. They are old ps2 era games and the new one isn't even all that new anymore.

For them to just dump these games on a store nobody uses or spends money on is so dumb. Complete disregard for and mishandling of their own games.

Man I wish I'd played the ES2 demo before the EA price went up from $40 to $50 back in mid-Feb.

Gave it a spin last night and boy howdy is it great. Ticks all those boxes for a great arcade shooter. Exemplary sights, sounds & controls.

I typically look for more fiddly bits with space sims. For example latest patch update for SpaceBourne 2 had a bullet point,
• Added the ability to collect Stargate transit taxes from player-owned systems, and set the tax rate.
Now that the kind of dumb minutia I can get behind.

ES2 has a more lite approach with side activities like upgrading, trading, etc. But that's okay 'cause the focus seems to be more on the action. Kinda like how Colony Wars was no Freespace 2, but both were still baller af.

Gonna be real hard to resist Day One for this release.

Normally I'd assume Epic wouldn't spend/couldn't afford a lifetime exclusive on something like the entire Kingdom Hearts franchise. But like... this is Square-Enix we're talking about. The one company that I can kinda see being dumb enough to accept a low-ball offer without really understanding (or simply not caring) how idiotic of a move it actually is. At this point I'm no longer expecting KH to show up on Steam 100% and if it doesn't happen this year I'll just assume it's not happening at all. At least not anytime soon.

they are just waiting until everyone forgets those games are on egs, so they can release them again at full price with no discounts :smart-thinking-blob:
