To all my emulation enthusiasts here's a mod that you'll need to play Tears of the Kingdom with Yuzu and it runs WAAAAY better than on Ryujinx, but you need this mod otherwise it will not launch lol. Feel free to add the 60 fps mod as well, because it runs like a dream, only that the cutscenes are sped up, which is kinda funny. IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure to use the 16.0.1 keys NOT the 16.0.2, otherwise the emulator won't recognize the game. Activate the mod and you should be good to go :cat-heart-blob: .

I don't care if you guys are playing Tears of the Kingdom now, but I despise you for not showing a single bit of shame for playing the game this early through an illegitimate copy when there are obviously many people out there (AND on here) waiting for the release on next Friday.

Come on man. Show some respect to others. Discuss it through PMs or make your own ToTK thread (so I can click the ignore button on it).

You know,

We have an emulation thread.

And a console thread.

You can take the discussion there where it's more appropriate

Playing a leaked copy is one thing, but there's plenty of people who are looking forward to playing the game without you lot trying to ruin the experience for everyone else by posting unspoilered stuff. Take it to Discord or ERA where they belong.

Besides, emulation is bad in general, you all should be ashamed to even download any emulators.

The best way to experience Nintendo games is on their original console, nothing else will suffice.

Just put all your (not directed to a single person) discussion on the game into a thread. I don't care man. I never ignore people so please don't make me do it. And my request isn't even that hard to do.
You're right this is the Steam thread, that's why I wanted to mention that the game is really glitchy but has good performance on the Steam Deck... I'm just messing with you lmao. I didn't know this discussion would upset people, but I'm done anyway.

However this whole "Make a thread to discuss it" argument never works, because the Steam thread has always been like a general discussion thread where everyone could share their thoughts about the gaming world, and barely anyone visits those specialized threads (just checked the emulation thread and there have been only 2 posts made this week).

Besides, emulation is bad in general, you all should be ashamed to even download any emulators.
I said I didn't want to upset anyone, but this has to be ironic right? Because if it isn't this is definitely the stupidest shit I've read all day lmao

Is it ironic for wanting to experience the game as the developer intended? Pardon me for saying so, but playing a Nintendo game utilising a dynamic resolution with uneven frame pacing in low-resolution textures is an authentic experience. It is only made possible by the absolute mastery of the craft demonstrated by the extremely talented developers at Nintendo. :flare_utawaku:

Sorry for being a bit hotheaded. While I don't think my request was unreasonable, I think the best solution is to take a leave until next Friday. I will still make the next weekly "what are you playing" thread, but I am not reading anything and engaging in any discussion until then.

I am acting emotional because Zelda is just too important to me. See you guys later.

Its not an unreasonable ask. People shouldn't be posting unprompted spoilers from leaked copies of unreleased games regardless of platform the game is on lol

Hey I launched the game through that justanotherlauncher called Steam -thats the main reason I posted the video here- and it was more related to show people how well you can arrange your ROM/ISOs on this justanotherlaunchertm -in this case Switch games- than to show Zelda.
I have a particular crusade with this because people usually use steam to launch the emulator and then select the game inside the app (this is the main reason we are getting direct emulator steam ports like dolphin, retroarch…) instead of use console commands on the steam game parameters to launch the game directly through steam with its logo, boxart, header, etc…
That video is just few seconds of the beginning, is less than any gameplay Nintendo released on YouTube or some opening videos, or launch trailer you find from any game on YouTube.
It was helpful to discover there’s a 30fps & 60fps mod or it works even better than ryujinx with 16.0.1 keys (at least I had no idea about this).
It wasn’t my intention to talk about the game plot itself. I’m against spoilers too.

Those Steam reviews for Redfall are nasty. And only 900 people playing right now :negative-blob:

Arkane never made a big seller but still this is so much worse than I thought it would be. I figured it would be at worse an 8 out of 10 type of game that is very generic but gets better with content updates + healthy playerbase etc. This seems like its just fundamentally bad and they aren't gonna be able to do much to fix all of this. I guess they can move on asap and do something they've been much better at over the years. Maybe they do try to fix all of this. I remember Sea of Thieves also had a trash launch with terrible reviews and they were able to turn it around after a couple years. But yea seems more unlikely with a title like this.

Both Jedi Survivor and Redfall releasing in such a short time. Both with bad reviews and/or performance. Both costing 70$.

The AAA industry is fucking terrible right now. The next big 70$ to do this will be Diablo IV no doubt. Not because of performance or quality but I expect the servers to shit the bed for the first few days of launch. The BNet login queue will be frustrating trash.

The AAA industry has the feeling of being rather... unsustainable, shall we say?

We haven't yet seen the backlash as much on console, but I suspect when PS5 Pro rolls around there are going to be a lot of pissed off people who paid hundreds of bucks for a system that has no games, only for an improved version to release before the games do.

And we all know developers will just do an MVP on base consoles and put all the bells and whistles on the most expensive model.

would you believe it?
its a new episode of "game stuff not game stuff"

game stuff:

No More Heroes III's Steam port finally got updated to be the same one as the Microsoft version.
For those out of the loop; the ports of No More Heroes III were tackled by two different studios for two different platforms; one studio made a port for the PS5, and the other made a port for the PC. The problem is that the PS5 port had better graphics and visuals, while the PC port had the same graphics from the Switch. Later, No More Heroes III got released on the Microsoft Store, but instead of the expected PC port, they ported over the PS5 version - which included a lot of cool stuff.

Now our wait is over, as we can finally rejoice in playing No More Heroes III's better-looking version on Steam, and it's 20 gigabytes of download and it's also buggy as hell apparently why does this happen

not game stuff:
i am living off 50 cents
i am balls deep in assignments and exams
my plan is to eat oatmeal to sustain myself
life's great

Yo, Cassette Beasts is amazing. Anybody with any nostalgia for Pokemon should check it out.

It uses an AP system (similar to SaGa) that is immediately more interesting than PP. The type system has all sorts of weird, bespoke interactions, like using Fire on a Plastic type causes them to release noxious fumes and temporarily changes them to a Poison type. You get moves with special properties immediately instead of needing to grind/breed for ages. Monster designs are choice (Pomeranian with a fireball for a head? Yes, please). The soundtrack is killer. And perhaps best of all: you get to hunt down wannabe landlords to stop them from trying to privatize housing.

It's like staring into an alternate reality where Gamefreak actually improved Pokemon game-over-game, instead of just spinning their wheels.

the more I hear about Redfall, the more it seems like Microsoft should have just stepped in and cancelled it. increasingly seems like it was badly misconceived on a fundamental design level and that throwing more money and development time at it wouldn't have turned it around, and cancelling it would arguably have been less of an embarrassment to the Xbox Game Studios brand than releasing it in this state, especially as this is the first AAA Xbox console exclusive in nearly a year and a half.

They probably wanted to but with Gamepass its still content for subscribers. Bad or good its the type of cancellation that is very hard for MS to do. They treat the service like Netflix and like 90% of content on Netflix is basically Redfall lol.

Also I bet MS is pushing them to turn it around and improve the game with updates. Like Sea of Thieves and No Mans Sky...there has been plenty of examples but the downside those devs spent years fixing and improving the game while not being able to do new stuff. I hope Arkane doesn't waste time on this and immediately goes back to Dishonored/Prey style games.

I tried Age of Wonders: Planetfall earlier, but I didn't like it because exploration was so extremely slow and most of the battles played out the same. Is Planetfall very different from 3 and 4?
it is slightly different, yeah

Been struggling to find a game to sink into. Sorta spinning gears after I completed another game recently. Picked up Path of the Midnight Sun as it looks interesting and also Nevergrind Online which I am not 1000x sold on and may or may not keep. Someone mentioned Everquest and that suckered me in. I still miss early EQ.
