Jesus, I am pulling my hairs with the simplest shit. I have a pdf of a comic book. I want to extract to fucking jpg because fuck pdf.
And no, I'm at my third rotten app and the quality is NOT the same, I am not blind.

So tired of proprietary shit.
This isn't a criticism or anything, but what kinda reader app doesn't handle pdf? I've got kindle and tachiyomi on my tablet, they both do pdfs... :thinking-face:

I don't even know if my reader handles pdf, it a matter of preference first. Like, I love pdf for documentation, tabletop rpg manuals, no problem, but when I read a comic book I like to use cbr/cbz. And likewise, don't offer me an illustration heavy document in epub if you want me to stay polite. Some formats are better suited than others for some tasks.

But maybe I'm exaggerating... ok, I will try, for curio's sake.

(To answer your question and be precise, I'm looking at cleaning up my data, sort things nicely, etc. And my comic book reader for iOS is Chunky, which annoys me to no end with a stupid bug, but I just compared it to the slicker Panels tonight and I think Chunky has a better IQ).

Edit -
It works. Maybe a tad slower, but that may be in my mind. Will abandon my crusade and keep the pdf as is, ASAP

GitHub - ToofDerling/CbzMage: Convert azw and pdf comic books to nice cbz files
It will transform your comic in a cbz (which is nothing more than a zip), you need to install ghostcript, tho.
The final quality will depend on the pdf quality.

Just finished the Lies of P demo, I'm really impressed! You control Timothee Chalamet is a world filled with all kinds of puppets. The combat feels amazing, the move set for the 3 weapons I used felt great with a good sense of impact on every attack. The dodge felt a little weird for me, but I'm sure that's just because I suck lol. There's also a big emphasis on perfect blocks and aggressive playstyle since when you get hit you can get a bit of health back from attacking the enemy just like Bloodborne. The mechanic when you can recharge 1 estus flask by whacking on enemies is a great addition in my opinion, and so is the sharpening mechanic. The Victorian era setting and the art style are on point, very Victorian, very Bloodbornian and the music from Hotel Krat sounded like something out of Symphony of the Night.

From a technical perspective, the game looks and runs fantastic (even on Steam Deck) and has FSR 2.0 and DLSS 2.0, no stutters from what I could gather but I noticed that the game had a lot of loading screens, is not as seamless as your typical From Soft game.

The demo has a ton of content (3 bosses!) and a great atmosphere, you can easily get 2 hours of gameplay out of this demo. I feel like this is not going to be another DS clone, the developers (so far) nailed a lot of the features that make Souls games great. This could be a special game if the final release is consistent with this demo.

TLDR: Bloodborne at home is looking great

I think I have a problem...

I have just grabbed (and installing) Diablo IV thekeats1999 # 1403 if you want to add me. I am very tempted to try Plagues Tale after reading up on them.

Yet I know I will probably spend most of my time trying to clear the current Savage Tier in FFXIV with my static and carrying on with my push towards Ginger Island in Stardew Valley.

On a side note, gave up on the iOS version of Stardew. The 1.5 version introduced just a few too many irritating bugs. After 70+ hours I restarted on the Deck version. Just another 40 hours to go too catch up...

Been messing around with Remnant from the choice bundle. Played for a few hours and enjoying it. The AI is kind of dumb but its fun enough Souls with guns.

But I have to say any time I play a Soulslike nowadays I immediately reminisce of the first Dark Souls. These Soulslikes exist as callback to do another playthrough.

The game will always be the benchmark. The perfect difficulty and design. Feels like the industry is chasing that high since but I don't think that it will ever be reached again. I wonder if FROM is able to do something interesting with the new Armored Core to really shake up the genre :sneaky:

Fae Farm is coming to Steam now, and got a release date of Sept 8. It was formerly a Switch exclusive... but I think I will still have to get it on Switch, even though I would prefer Steam.

My only IRL gaming friends are two girls I work with who are hardcore "casual" gamers(they love Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, and every other cozy game out there), and they are already excited to play it multiplayer with me. Unless there is crossplay between Switch and PC, I'll have to get it on Switch... or pay the insane $80 price tag twice.

On my Linux PC as well. No issues at all, and butter smooth.

For some reason I can't alter mouse sensitivity, though. It's greyed out in the UI, so I don't think it's Linux-specific. Not implemented in the demo?

While there will probably be some basic Soulslike aspects making their way into the new AC, I wouldn't expect it to belong to the same genre overall.

Yeah I noticed the mouse sensitivity thing as well (on Steam Deck/desktop mode). weird

I really liked the demo so far but noticed that the dodge is weird when you lock on to enemies.
some people in the steam forums mentioned its parry-focused, and some said that locking the game to 30fps makes it way easier to dodge, will have to try if it makes any difference (although i dont want to play at 30)

Yeah, the demo was technically impeccable. Not sure I like the game as such, though. It just feels so sluggish to play, and the long animation before he attacks was really not my thing.
What's throwing me off is the short range of the attacks. I always think I'm close enough to hit the enemy when I'm not.
The dodge feels a bit finicky as well.
But overall it seems to be a very good game. I'm always surprised by how much these DS clones lift from From Software's games though, feels like downright plagiarism at times.

I also feel that the dodge is weird, and I was reading about the FPS speculation on the steam forum a few seconds ago

Another weird thing I forgot to mention is that movement keys cannot rebound, for some reason.

I did a "setxkbmap us" without thinking much about it, but it continues to amaze me how many game devs seem completely unaware that there are several keyboard layouts in the world. I reeeeeeally hope that's just demo-specific.

The extra mouse buttons can be bound in game, but show no icons. Not uncommon.

Wow. The Cavern of Dreams demo is so good. I thought I was just getting a cozy N64 collectathon, but it's got so much more going for it. There's so much to explore and find here. I wish I could keep playing. This jumps to the top of the wishlist.

Just pointing Dungeon Travelers 2: The Royal Library & the Monster Seal and Dungeon Travelers 2-2: The Fallen Maidens & the Book of Beginnings released this past june 9th on Johren.
I don't get why this game cannot be released on Steam but well downloaded from the internets and put on my Steam library.
Valve and its weird judgment.

some articles I spied today as I did the daily news scrolling. They claim Intel is slowly filling the old budget card gap. Thanks to driver updates they're performing fairly well these days.

I dunno if I'd trust Intel gpu's just yet myself, but here's hoping they keep improving at a sane price point that can pinch competition.

Playing some Gears Tactics and Gears of War Ultimate to be ready for the Xbox showcase. Bring it!
I sure hope we get some good Gears news this year. Third-person Shooters are a bit thin these days... :blobweary:

It seems like a pretty good investment at the price point. As long as you're ok with 3060/3060ti like performance for DX11-12 games. They seem to be doing some heavy duty driver work. And yeah, 16GB VRAM is a fookin' steal by modern standards. Even the 4070ti only has 12...

It will be a slight improvement over my 2070Super but for 1440p should be fine
