This video is really interesting.

Gamers Nexus is awesome for experimenting with longer form stuff. I thought this stuff was super interesting so it's cool to hear about what it does and how they use it l.

I just finished reading Part 1 of Chainsaw Man in color and oh boy it's something else reading it with color.

I think that in general reading manga in color has its benefits and also downsides.

Since getting a color page is a special thing, how ever the main downside to is, is that when it eventually gets printed in a volume that page will not be in color and there for will be much darker and harder to read.

Color isn't really needed in manga and even then I'm not sure that there are a lot of series that would be able to make a great use of it. It's mainly used for a promo type of thing to celebrate the series, which do look nice.

It's going to be hard reading Chainsaw man now in black and white considering just how good those color pages were.

I am sorry, but as a paying customer, I don’t want DRM in my games. Full stop. You are penalising the wrong people. It doesn’t matter if you benchmark your games and show they run better. Will those drm servers still be operational in 5 years, 10 years, 15 years and so on.

hell I used to rip all my DVDs just to get rid of the FBI/copyright warnings.

I am always surprised how far people are ready to go to defend AAA developer. And it almost always ends up with them saying how we should be easier on the devs because we shouldn't push them to crunch. I mean that's fine and everything but how long we will then just pay, sit and accept broken games at launch? And how long we will also sit and wait weeks and months for patches that do nothing?

These days I watch TV stuff. You can see my bad tastes at work in the Movie thread.

All this to say, yeah it was also a desperate attempt to have people post here, my setup is still far from what I would like it to be. No media server because it costs a pretty penny, but Plex over ethernet also chugged when trying to read a media a original quality. So I resolved to do it the easy way, hdmi with the TV as a second monitor, but fuck, talk about a media server for peons.

EA Black Panther rumors from last year confirmed:

The announcement doesn't explicitly say it's open-world as was rumored last year, but it probably is given that it refers to Wakanda as a "sandbox" and that the studio was founded by vets from Monolith's Middle-Earth games. Not to be confused with the AAA WWII-set Black Panther/Captain America game that was announced last year, which is probably a more linear sort of action-adventure game in the Uncharted vein given Amy Hennig's pedigree.

This is like SUPER underground Hardcore #Steam user territory. There once was a game that was a clone of Rock N Roll Racing called Motor Rock.

Apparently shenanigans are afoot and, afaik, everyone who legit bought the game are getting keys deactivated.
And then a screenshot of said game, "Motor Rock", being revoked from his account

* Edit; Although I just check in incognito mode, it seems like viewing tweets without being logged in works again? Can others confirm?

edit 2: the dev claims they will restore the revoked licenses

get the one thats like good NarohDethan

Also like wait until the AMD promotion goes into affect if you're buying a new new one:

The listed price by premium/standard edition is for Taiwanese Not american dollars, so I don't know how much that actually is
But it's divided up in that if you buy the more pricey one you get the more pricey edition etc

I do know that the like "top of the line" AMD card is essentially throwing blows against the 4090 but half the price, obviously until you throw in ray tracing but I have no idea on budget or whatever

As an aside ive been using an AMD gpu for years and years and the only time I've had a problem with one was when Just Cause 3 came out and the drivers didnt work but it was a brand new game so I mean.. Yeah...

Ah, another overwhelmingly positive early access game! I've been playing a lot of Boneraiser Minions and Brotato lately, might be time for another one. (just bought it)
You're probably going to enjoy it!

It's less complex in terms of mechanics than Brotato, but Halls of Torment might have some of the best "feel" of any Vampire Survivors clone ive ever played (and I play a LOT of those games). If you've ever played Diablo, imagine the satisfying feeling you get when you fire an AOE attack into a crowd of enemies. Theyve captured that perfectly!

Basically what kind of screen you're getting. VA tends to be more responsive but with lower color accuracy. IPS is the opposite richer and better color reproduction but worse response times.
I don't think the response time differences are perceptible to human beings(?), but if you don't play competitive games I'd always go IPS. The color accuracy is way more important.
Would an Odyssey G5 be better?

mhmmmm... not really?

They're both VA panels in this case.

The Gigabyte G34WQC and the Samsung Odyssey G5 C34G55T are two great gaming monitors. They both have a VA panel with a high contrast ratio but narrow viewing angles. The Samsung has a more aggressive curvature than the Gigabyte, but that comes down to personal preference. The Gigabyte is better for HDR content because it displays a wide color gamut and gets brighter. Also, it has a better stand as it allows for height adjustment. The Samsung has a higher 165Hz refresh compared to 144Hz on the Gigabyte, but overall, they deliver similar gaming performance.
RT'ings does list the Gigabyte as the current "best budget ultrawide." So I'd personally go with that if you're set on an UW. Or check out the LG 34GP950G-B, which is in the same price range, and features an IPS panel that supports G-sync and Free-sync natively. (But not over HDMI, so be careful about that.)

Edit: Scratch that, I was looking at the wrong LG price wise. This ~$400 area is a tough spot for Ultra wides...

Friends don’t let friends buy Razer! As I see you as a friend, consider this as an intervention before it’s too late!
For what it's worth, I bought two Razer mice over like 8 years, and they both still work for me (switched to the wireless Deathadder, and using the old one at my parent's when I visit for holidays). But they do both seem super flimsy, and the mouse wheel on that old Razer did not hold up super well.

I think you are mixing up VA and TN.

In general, in broad terms, it's like this:
  • TN: fast response times, terrible viewing angles, mediocre color and contrast
  • IPS: medium response times, good viewing angles, great color, mediocre contrast
  • VA: relatively slow response times (*), medium viewing angles, good color, good contrast
(*): The more recent Samsung high-refresh VA panels actually have really good response times for LCD technology. They are really the best of the lot in terms of panels IMHO, the problem is that you basically only get them in Samsung monitors which frequently have really dumb (firmware) issues.

Im curious how I will be tacking the next weeks with games. Baldurs Gate 3, Starfield and Alan Wake 2 are already ordered (have had BG3 in my Steam library since early access launch), then I bought a bunch of good looking games on the Steam sale, still not done with Diablo 4, only played a few hours of ToTK, not touched my copy off FFXVI.

And then ther's all those other games. Super Mario Wonder, Oxenfree 2, AC Mirage, Viewfinder, Remnant 2, Disney Illusion Island, Sea of Stars, Armored Core, Lies of P.
I don't care.

Have been waiting for it for a long time.

Have a promo copy of it on EGS and it's a lot of fun.

Now there's Ooblets and KH games left.
