B-b-but gamepass pcJust cancelled PS Plus and Gamepass, I'm a PC man now.
This. I know we can't do anything about this takeover as consumers. I'm just surprised to see people being happy about it. This probably won't end well long term. It's all fun and jokes until the massive corporation, which has a long history of doing so, decides to leverage their position to do something scummy.
I've never actually used gamepass on PC more than 2 times IIRCB-b-but gamepass pc
I have nothing but good to say about DELL. Top-quality, none of the garish gamer looks. (They save that for the Alienware line.) Both of my monitors are DELL's and I love them, especially at the price point.Yeah I saw an LG 34GP83A-B but it's 750 bucks haha
What about this one?
This tbh. I've never had a single Razer product last even a year. I don't get it. I switched to Logitech and now I only buy new accessories when I want to. Never had one fail on me or anything like that. (Except for a keyboard I accidentally spilled half a bottle of Wine on LOL.)Friends don’t let friends buy Razer! As I see you as a friend, consider this as an intervention before it’s too late!
Well, I got an LG Ultrawide and a Logitech mouse on the way lolI have nothing but good to say about DELL. Top-quality, none of the garish gamer looks. (They save that for the Alienware line.) Both of my monitors are DELL's and I love them, especially at the price point.

Ultrawide
not for me personally, i would rather just have a really big 16:9 one, like 55" or something like thatUltrawide is awesome
It is awesome. For all 10 games that support it lolUltrawide is awesome
Unfortunate but true. With Windows 11 at least you could split the desktop in half, and pretend it's dual monitor. It is awesome. For all 10 games that support it lol
Ultrawide support is commonplace now, even older stuff from my library support a 21:9 ratio like the Batman games. It is awesome. For all 10 games that support it lol
Personally I don't care about actiblizz at all, they've made 1 good game in more years than I can even bother remembering at this point and it was just a one time special deal (Sekiro). But if I were to imagine it was another company being bought, one I did care about, I'd much rather have tencent buy them than MS. At least they'd remain multiplat and by all accounts tencent seems to be as hands off as MS is reported to be (just without the insane mismanagement going on at most of MS' studios).Kotick wants out, so who is gonna buy them?
You've got a tossup of only a handful of companies that can actually afford them and would be interested in buying them.
Microsoft, Tencent, Saudi Sovereign Wealth Fund, Nintendo, Sony.
And if Microsoft is blocked from buying them, they'll move heaven and earth to stop Nintendo or Sony from getting them.
So that just leaves us Tencent and House of Saud. Throw in Elon Musk as a wildcard because that man spends money to be an Internet troll.
Pick your poison, basically.
The thing is, that it's waaaay easier to onboard people using UE, than a propietary engine.
So CDPR dropped their REDEngine that scales amazing with number of cores for UE5 that basically has no difference between 6 and 8 cores...
It is way easier to onboard people to make product that is in the end worse for end user. That's the main issue. What's the point of Lumen and Nanite when engine doesn't use hardware properly and doesn't scale well, and performs worse than 3 year old engine (or more). And this is engine that will dominate next 6-7 years. If we look entire industry in-house engines almost always performed better than 3rd party ones and used hardware way better than 3rd party ones. The thing is, that it's waaaay easier to onboard people using UE, than a propietary engine.
With that said I'm shocked that it took epic so long to "fix" (it remains to be seen if it works well) things like shader compilation (I haven't watch the video but I remember they explained that they had found a way to fix it).
And I'm surprised that with how widespread UE and epic race to be the ultimate middleware company how long it always takes them to fix/implement anything.
Yes, in-house engines will work better, because they're suited to the teams needs. But they require more effort to get people working with it.It is way easier to onboard people to make product that is in the end worse for end user. That's the main issue. Epic is showing Lumen today and 4A games released fully ray traced game (Metro Exodus EE) on consoles what 2 or 3 years ago.
Edit: I found the reserve cables in the box.How many WATS is that PSU? It most likely has another 8 pin tucked in somewhere, so definitely look first.
AMD cards are a bit more power hungry, so I don't know how safe it would be to do a 2x molex to 8-pin adapter. But generally speaking, if the PSU has enough power in that rail to do it safely, then it most likely has 2x 8-pin PCI-E available anyway.
It's a Sharkoon Gold 550wA decent quality 550w PSU should be fine imo, but I'm not a tech reviewer or have particular experience with this card of course. Usually official recommendations take into account some headroom for other stuff too, power hungry CPU, coolers, pumps, fans, etc. just to be safe.
One thing I have seen tho is that 6750xt, 6800xt, etc are relatively easy to safely undervolt, and can shave off up to ~50w of power draw for minimal (I'm talking 1-3% or even not at all depending on the game) loss in performance, so that's also an option. It's really just as easy as moving a couple sliders in the AMD software and running a test for stability (no possible damage to components at all).
Personally, I wouldn't be that worried as long as the PSU is relatively decent (gold rated hopefully) and not like a no brand/$40 one. But again, with the caveat that my experience with owning AMD cards is practically 0. Unfortunately, that's somewhere where Nvidia, even the disappointing 4xxx series, still has an edge.
It is way easier to train people to work on modern in-house engines today than it was years before. But it is more expensive to have engine team I guess so costs had to be cut. And UE is obviously designed to target console hardware first and PC second. So yeah I would be prepared for another few years of subpar PC ports. Maybe they will solve shader compilation but something else will pop up (like bad CPU utilization from that DF video).Yes, in-house engines will work better, because they're suited to the teams needs. But they require more effort to get people working with it.
And with how long it takes to make games now, they see it as a worthy trade-off (in an industry were people keep getting burned and with a high turn-over).
Do I like that more and more companies rely on one single engine and company ? No, but that's another story.
Unfortunately I don't know the brand, but I don't think it's that bad from a quick look around. As long as it delivers the full power it's rated for I think it should be fine with either card. It's a Sharkoon Gold 550w
And even if I do all that, there is still the issue with the enclosed PSU in the case.
If there are no other 8-pin 550W options that are comparable, I will possibly end up with the 4060TI, which has 8-pin 550W

Yeah, it runs like shit.I found the performance in Fortnite to be pretty unacceptable considering the visuals on display. I wasn't able to get locked 120 FPS on a 4090/13900K/64gb DDR5 with either software or hardware Lumen and their DLSS equivalent (so 1440P internal res I think?). Sure the lighting looked good at times, but everything else looked really mediocre. Forza Horizon 4/5 both look significantly better and run at 120 FPS at native 4K on the same rig (and their baked GI looks just as good as the real-time lumen while still updating with time of day). It's a bummer the creators of the engine don't have a better demonstration of it outside of the tech demos.
