Yeah, each time I summoned Afterburner I was at 70 fps on my 5800X3D / 4070 on high settings. But YMMV as I don’t give a fuck about 1% low.

I don't like how much RE2R inspiration I see.

I don't want one of my favorite game series to turn into a genre it isn't.

I also hope the connection between Control and AW isn't too much, I'd rather want them to be their own things as much as possible, very dissapointed to see Ahti there.

The story and world lore was my favorite thing with AW, Im worried they will fuck around with it too much.

Gonna bomb on PC
And Epic did help fund the development of this game so it'll probably never come to Steam unless EGS disappears for good. The original game was kinda like a cult classic. Hopefully, it does well on console because Remedy makes some great games.

Rockstar Games caught selling cracked games on Steam

Users have found that some of Rockstar’s games on Steam have been previously cracked.

Game developer and modder __Silent_ found cracking group tags while looking at the hex code for some of Rockstars games on Steam.

By looking into the .exe files for Midnight Club 2, Manhunt, and Max Payne, the modder has found that even Rockstar didn’t bother with their own DRM, and re-sold cracked copies instead.

You can view the cracker tag found in the hex code of Midnight Club 2 below:

Finally got around to replaying Max Payne 3. Only played it once at launch and enjoyed it a lot back then. Game holds up really well. The gunplay is great and pretty much every object reacts to your shots as you'd expect. Good stuff.

How's everyone enjoying Starfield? Been playing it on Game Pass, and for some reason the game refuses to launch for me unless I use the Steam binaries paired with a crack for some really strange reason. Like the game will show the save syncing screen, dip to a black screen, and then close out of nowhere after 30 seconds of being on the black screen.

My current desktop is having weird performance issues with the game and dips below 60FPS, and so does my laptop no matter the resolution settings I use.

But onto the game itself, I feel like a bunch of things regarding traversal weren't communicated clearly enough, but I was able to get it sorted out. Force walking being set to caps lock, the weapon favorite system probably not being made clear, and the lack of a weapon cycle system on the scroll wheel are my biggest issues with the game setting aside the performance issues. That and you can't have people in their underwear after looting them when they die, which feels like a downgrade of sorts compared to Bethesda's previous games. There's a lot of small things that feel like they need polishing.

Overall, I'd give my time with it so far a 6/10. Has issues, but it's not the worst game I've played this year. Probably the most stable Bethesda game I've played at launch, but hopefully they fix the bugs and performance issues rather than relying on endless collections of mods and the slow download speeds on Nexus.

That said, when FSR 3 drops, really hoping either Bethesda or a modder looks into implementing that into the game, so 20/30 series NVIDIA card users, AMD Navi 1/2/3 users, and Intel Arc users can at least have smoother looking gameplay.

So it's like the Virtual Console claims of Nintendo apparently selling pirated ROMs, but it's actually true in the case of Rockstar. lol.

Never goes below 60, but I have the FG mod now so I'm at like 140 fps lol

5800x3d

4k, everything ultra, res slider to 75%
Oh so that's DLSS3 then? I guess that makes sense, ~30fps otherwise then?

Alan Wake 2 will probably recoup costs. I doubt that Epic invested more than $50M in it (Control was done on $30M budget if I remember correctly) and they won't spend huge amountof money (if any) on marketing. So they need to sell around 1.5-2M copies if I calculated correctly to break even. That is not that hard to achieve on 3 platforms. That is big reason why they started publishing branch, they can get money back that way because dropping tons of money on PC exclusives was never going to work.

Don't get your negativity at all, but I also loved Control and its established larger universe that includes the Alan Wake world. I personally doubt we will see anyone from the FBC officially (maybe a short appearance at the very end, when everything is done and dusted). As we already had elements from Alan Wake in Control, it doesn't feel that weird to have a meaningless cameo (as far as the plot is concerned) in Alan Wake.

I personally don't mind the RE2 inspiration, I did not like the combat in the first game, the use of the flash light was generally super slow, shooting was just bad for a Remedy game and it wasn't an overall fun experience. I remain sceptical, but it looks far more refined in the footage of AW2 we have seen so far, so if taking on inspiration from RE2 helps make the combat better, so be it.

I'm also not worried for a second about them "messing up the lore", not after the amazing Control which was basically 90% lore and 10% fun action game around the lore (don't mean that in a bad way). The idea of the investigation room in your head with Saga is just amazing. My guess so far is that with Saga you get the more grounded investigation, uncovering of secrets and low-fi horror, and with the Alan Wake sections we instead get complete insanity and far more action.

Really looking forward to this, will play it on day 1.

I kinda believe him, as dumb as that may sound. I have been playing the game and it is very heavy but it is also a big leap in environment fidelity, density and scale compared to Bethesda's previous games. I've also had zero crashes and noteworthy bugs in over 20 hours of gameplay. They should have optimized the game more but my feeling is that Starfield is indeed a next-generation game.

I'm enjoying Starfield, and I imagine I will still be playing it months from now. There are some good questlines, there is soooooo much content to explore, and it's the type of game I don't feel compelled to spend all my free time on, instead I can pick away at it when I feel the urge.

I do wish the characters were more interesting though. They tried, but they all feel like they have one defining "trait", and that's it. I kinda think they are all just ok, versus BG3, where I loved almost all of them(or felt strongly about them, anyway)

According to Remedy the remaster still didn't make any money so I wouldn't be so sure about AW2

The Steam version peaked at about 269k so Xbox and Windows Store made up about 73%. In a vacuum those numbers are great, but relative to the hype it feels a bit underwhelming. I know there were some expectations for 1 million on Steam alone.

Yeah I thought for sure it would have passed FO4's numbers in the first day but it only gained about 10k players over the early access peak. Steam was way, way smaller in 2015 when FO4 set its peak and given how huge bethesda games usually are (FO4 did 12m in one day) I thought it was gonna pass those steam numbers easily. We'll see what the weekend brings I guess but everyone was wondering if it could match baldur's gate's peak, not wondering if it can pass its 8 year old predecessor's peak.

Any low steam peak CCU will be handwaved away with "they are ALL playing it on Gamepass"

I mean not surprised but whatever. That price point should not be the new norm for PC games.

I'm happy I thought that Alan Wake was just OK (I didn't even bother to play the DLCs although I have them), since otherwise I'd be in the ethical dilemma of whether or not to spend money on EGS :p
Thanks to GDPR, Epic had to delete my Unreal account when they started that EGS nonsense. They won't get me back. Getting a cheap Series S is they only way I will ever get to play Alan Wake 2. Refurbished consoles went as low as 170 € on Amazon a few months ago.

The only good games Remedy ever made were Max Payne 1 and 2, rest range from mediocre to trash. :shrugblob:
MP1+2 are masterpieces though

Speaking on Starfield's performance, so far it's been okay from me, but I'm getting huge frame drops in new atlantis (on a 4070 btw)

Yup I agree. It feels next gen (doesn't always look it, but then other times it looks like one of the best games). Definitely a heavy game and will hurt some players who have been using older CPU's/GPU's.

I am curious what optimization means to many players though. I always compared to consoles as a baseline, so series X playing this game at 1440p and doing 30fps (medium/high settings), what are the equivalent PC parts doing, so if a GTX2070 is getting lower frames at medium settings then yeah not optimized but trying to get a locked 60fps won't happen.

I've read the Edge interview... you're in for a rude awakening, they are quite vocal about adding adapting survival horror from RE2 and adding a lot of thematic and visual elements from Control
