Prodeus is a good change. I'll skip this month, but I'll keep an eye on my email for a coupon.

Why is there a Bullet Heaven fest but still no bullet heaven genre tag??

oh and i just found out Castle Doombad is getting a pc remaster.
i have not played this game in like 9-10 years. one of the many decent mobile games that released before f2p/gacha ruined mobile gaming forever.

I've been feeling really down for the past month or so, physically but especially mentally, and just wanted to drop by and say it's always nice coming here and reading what's going on.
I'd love to get the Talos Principal 2 but I lack the motivation to do anything right now so I guess I'll wait a few months for a sale.

In other news, I've mentioned before that I was looking to upgrade my 7yo PC now and take advantage of BF/end of year sales but I came to the realization that it's impossible to justify it. There's no way a midrange card can cost ~1k€ and have less than 16GB of VRAM, it's simply not future proof, and paying 2k+ for a whole new PC is ridiculous. I'd rather wait 2 years for the rtx 50 series than buy anything now, plus it will be closer to the end of the current console generation so it's a much better investment to support the next console cycle and ports. There's more than enough old or less demanding games to sustain me till then.

Making anything complex poses challenges along the way. Games take a while to make and usually require a good team working together. We've been lucky to have one such good team. Unfortunately, recent serious health issues have necessitated two key members stepping away from the project indefinitely. We are a small team and we each wear multiple hats. This is a loss of several hard to replace hats in an environment where all hats are needed. Given the realities of schedules, budgets, and the fraught task of reworking the whole project within those parameters, the team has amicably decided to suspend operations. For all intents and purposes, this is the end of the development of Revenant Hill.

We are a cooperative, and we make decisions as a group. For us, this was the clear path to take for the well-being of the team, which is frankly more important than games. In the future, after the dust has settled, perhaps we'll talk about what we've made and learned together. In the meantime, we want to thank everyone who worked with us, supported us, and believed in us
Sometimes things happen beyond your control that change the available options and you just have to roll with it together. Glory was a project in and of itself, and it’s one we’re proud to have been part of. Thank you for caring about what we did. Take care of each other, and support the workers doing the labor of making the games you love. We'll see you around.

<3 The Glory Society
Revenant Hill is cancelled, basically. This was the game from the co-creators of Night in the Woods. Sucks that it will never be made - I loved NITW.

GTA V memory

When the PC version was cracked few weeks after release, almost all gamers in my college banded together to download the game over 150 kbps connection, all 53 parts (equal to 1 GB each). Then we shared it over our ftp server.

Looks nice! what speakers are you running? mine just messed up recently so i've been (lazily) in the market for another pair.
I’m using Audioengine a2+. They’re very expensive but sound quality is awesome.

There could be multiple delays but I think that R* did some behind the scenes adjustments and that GTA VI will be out next holiday season.

Yeah something like that, the fastest a modern GTA game has come to PC was 6 months after it released on consoles lol

The lawsuit, filed on October 30, states that that Microsoft, Epic Games, Activision Blizzard, EA, and others “use patented designs, algorithms and marketing containing addictive features and technology” leading to addiction.

Do I need to play Talos 1 to understand 2?
Im only halfway through Talos 2 but narratively, no you don't, the story of Talos 1 gets told at the very beginning.

That said, i'd still recommend it because it's a great game on it's own and Talos 2 builds on the first one in many thematic manners.

Talos 1 is about what it means to be human, and our relation to the world around us.
Talos 2 is about what it means to be part of Humanity, and our relation to the universe around us.

Here is some chatgpt-generated garbage... asking it to use the keywords "Elohim" and "Child":
Child, within the labyrinthine corridors of existence, we find ourselves ensnared in the intricate tapestry of the human condition. We are but transient wanderers in the vast theater of reality, where the ethereal dance of paradoxes and contradictions unfolds before our mortal eyes. As Elohim gazes upon the fractured mirror of our souls, we ponder the elusive nature of purpose, the fragile dance of identity, and the kaleidoscope of perception. In the cosmic symphony, we are the instruments of introspection, probing the enigmatic chasm between knowledge and ignorance, seeking the elixir of wisdom amidst the mists of uncertainty. The enigma of our existence is the riddle that our species yearns to solve, like a Sisyphean quest for enlightenment amidst the vast expanse of the cosmos.
I played Talos 1, I enjoyed it a lot and don't remember much of the plot. After many years, I only remember that most of the text FELT like the AI-generated drivel I just posted.

So yeah... having played (or remembering) Talos 1 isn't all that important.

But I bet people -really- into philosophy will disagree.

Edit: I'm actually really enjoying the plot in Talos 2. Having characters to talk to is way more engaging... My adhd-riddled brain can't handle all that reading. But once I'm done with Takos 2, I do plan on going back to Talos 1 because I'm now curious to know what I missed the first time around.

This looks like a “won’t somebody think of the children!?” lawsuit with the real aim to extract a settlement from the companies. If even one of them settles it could be a nice payday for the lawyer and the plaintiff.

Many games are fine, though, and no more “addictive” than a good book or TV show.

That said, the think there needs to be laws against gambling mechanic games. I’m not saying they need to be banned, but the games industry does weaponise the same tactics casinos and betting shops use to rope in addicts, to great financial detriment.

Gambling addiction is real, and people with those addictive tendencies are roped into games and treated like a cash machine by these companies.

Indeed, i agree.

I think this is the crux.

Games stuffed with real money gambling mechanics, mtx and fomo bullshit should get a insta PEGI 18 rating.

Dark patterns in these games are very egregious.

A lot of these games are rated as low as they can get away with.

Like NIKKE is PEGI 12 and EAFC 24 is PEGI 3 (though i think ultimate team is pegi 13)

Thinking about emulating some switch games on the deck, how much of an hassle is it? I havent emulated anything in more than two decades!
EmuDeck is a great way to set it up. Other than the files you need to provide (firmware, decryption keys, games), it’s pretty straightforward.

I’m not at all excited for GTA VI. I expect it to be as po-faced as GTA V, if not more. They may even try to go up their ass further than they did with RDR2.

I maintain R* hasn’t made a good game since GTA IV, nor have they made a brilliant one since San Andreas.

I'm not going to try and comment on "objective" quality, but they haven't made a game I was interested in playing for more than an hour since Oni :p

I have been adjusting my purchase behavior lately. If I buy a game, I need to play it immediately. The same applies to everything else: plastic models, books, movies... No more hoarding, no more collecting, no more new things left in the stash.

Just bought Robocop on the xbox. Excited to start playing it after installation.
